To do this, you need to find the island of Bali on the world map, and the map must be taken in Russian. There are many different resorts in Bali, and having familiarized themselves with them in advance, tourists can choose any option. The most popular among travelers are the resorts located in the southern part of the island. In addition, there are wonderful recreation areas in the north of the island, as well as resorts located away from the coast.

It is difficult to say which resorts on Bali are the best, since each tourist chooses based on his desires and capabilities. Let's look at the most popular holiday destinations in Bali.

Nusa Dua- This luxury resort, built specifically for wealthy tourists. Hotel prices in Nusa Dua are significantly higher than prices at all other resorts. Nusa Dua is considered the most prestigious resort, since there are no houses of local residents on it. There are many private villas on Nusa Dua, as well as luxury hotels where tourists who are not used to saving on their vacations stay. Nusa Dua is a secluded place with security at the entrance; the likelihood of meeting local residents in Nusa Dua is very low.

The most famous place on the territory of Nusa Dua there is a Galleria center where various boutiques are located, a huge selection of quality products is presented, there are duty-free shops, and there are also many restaurants on the territory.

On the territory of the Nusa Dua resort there is the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue Park, where the huge 20-meter God Vishnu “watches” over the tranquility of the island. Also in the park's amphitheater, various performances based on local dances are held every day, which attract tourists.

Another attraction of this resort is the Pirates restaurant, located in a tree. It's really unique place, where luxurious food is served, and the most important thing is the view that opens up to the restaurant's visitors. It is especially pleasant to watch the sunset while sitting, practically, on a tree. There is also live music every day.

Nusa Dua is a place that every tourist traveling to the island of Bali must visit. And although booking a hotel in this area is a little expensive, you should still visit the Nusa Dua resort, which you can get to on your own.

Tanjung Benoa

Tanjung Benoa, a relatively new place on the island, is a kind of continuation of the Nusa Dua resort, as it is only a 10-minute drive north. By the way, there is a free bus between Nusa Dua and Tanjung Benoa, so residents of Tanjung Benoa can travel to Nusa Dua every day.

In Tanjung Benoa, the standard of hotels is lower than in Nusa Dua; there are mainly 3 and 4 star hotels, and accordingly the prices are lower. But judging by the reviews of tourists who vacationed at the Tanjung Benoa resort, the service of these hotels is very high. Therefore, the price of a holiday in Tanjung Benoa, as well as its close location to Nusa Dua, are the main advantages of this resort.

Tanjung Benoa is a quiet coastline for a relaxing holiday. If you look at the world map, you can see this resort on the very edge of the island of Bali. The resort is surrounded on all sides by the ocean, so the tides are the strongest here. There are many fishing villages in Tanjung Benoa, and also, as the Balinese say, Water Sport is actively developed here.

On the banks of Tanjung Benoa there are temples of different religions, there is a Balinese temple, Buddhist temple, a mosque, and also a Christian church. This is the only resort on the island of Bali where so many religions are represented.

Tanjung Benoa is mainly visited by young couples, as well as newlyweds who want to spend their holidays in a calm and secluded place. This is one of the most relaxed resorts, during the day it’s a beach holiday, and in the evening there are restaurants of any cuisine that are within walking distance from the hotels.

Kuta

This is another Balinese popular resort, considered the busiest on the island for two reasons. Firstly, Kuta is a coastline that attracts surfers, both professional and beginners. There are many surfing schools in Kuta, and the main advantage of this place is that the waves here are small in size, and there are no reefs or rocks that the waves can wash over. Therefore, the beach in Kuta is mostly urban.

Secondly, nightlife in Kuta is much more active than in other resorts. Kuta is a resort where everyone who wants to spend their time in clubs rushes at night. The main place of Kuta is Casablanka, where most of the discos and open-air establishments are located.

Kuta is home to the Tanah Lot Temple, which is distinguished by the fact that it was built on the edge of a cliff on the ocean. Also near Kuta there is a forest, which is a natural habitat for them, and the monkeys there are peaceful, and tourists are always welcome, especially those who feed the monkeys. In addition, the main water park of the island is located in Kuta.

If we talk about hotels in Kuta, then there is a large choice here, there is a segment of 3-star hotels, good 4-stars and luxury 5-stars. In Kuta you can meet tourists of all income levels and all ages. In addition, on the narrow streets of Kuta there are many shops where you can buy any goods and souvenirs.

Kuta is a place that should definitely be visited, even if another coast was chosen as the main resort. Judging by the reviews of tourists who visited Bali, namely Kuta, in January 2013, this place is crowded with travelers from different countries, and traffic jams often occur here. Therefore, you should move around this Resort on foot, or leave closer to the morning.

Sanur

The complete opposite of Kuta is Sanur. This is the quietest coast in Bali, an ideal place to relax with children. It's family run and relaxing holiday. Entire families most often come here to relax. In addition, at this resort you can meet travelers who are over 50 years old.

Sanur was one of the ancient resorts. Sanur is distinguished by the fact that there is a lot of greenery and flowers, huge trees grow everywhere, and there are few tourists on the streets of the coast. Sanur is famous for its snow-white beach and calm ocean, there are no waves and no surfers. There are few cars on the roads; bicycles are more popular.

This resort is the center aquatic species, primarily diving. From Sanur, the fastest way to get to volcanoes or hot springs. In addition, a short distance from Sanur is the island of Plau Serengan, where you can see huge sea turtles.

In addition, in Lovina, tourists are given a unique opportunity to both swim and swim with these sea animals, holding on to their fins. Spending time in a pool with dolphins is not only a pleasant and fun activity, but also good for health, since dolphin therapy is a way of treating humans using ultrasonic waves.

Ubud

One of the most picturesque exotic and cultural resorts The island of Bali is the resort town of Ubud. This city is located closer to the middle of the island away from the coast. The jungle that envelops the city, rice fields, growing fruits of various exotic fruits, as well as a significant number of temples - all this creates an extraordinary atmosphere of calm and tranquility.

It is important to note that Ubud is home to many tea and coffee plantations, as well as banana palms, mango trees, papaya and other exotic fruits. All these fruits can be found in the markets in Ubud, where only the freshest and most collected from the plantations are supplied.

This resort is suitable for couples of any age seeking privacy and tranquility. This resort is suitable for people who practice meditation and yoga. It should be noted that Ubud is famous for the works of masters of wood carving, fabric painting and jewelry. Also, only in Ubud you can buy handmade jewelry, wooden figurines, sculptures and much more.

In fact, there are many different resorts in Bali, and they are all good in their own way. Kuta should be chosen by those who prefer to lead an active club life, as well as those who want to learn to surf. Nusa Dua is a luxury resort for those who do not skimp on their vacation. Sanur - the best place For family vacation. Tanjung Benoa - quiet place, especially suitable for newlyweds, Lovina is an unusual coast with black sand. And Ubud will be chosen by those tourists who want to get acquainted with the culture of the island in more detail.

And the most important advantage of the island of Bali is that during one trip you can independently visit all the coasts of the island, since they are located not far from each other. Having visited all the resorts, you can decide for yourself where it is better to relax in Bali. What all resorts have in common is the presence of a beautiful beach, clean ocean and excellent service, which is in no way inferior to European standards.

Features of all resorts in Bali

The presence of ocean tides is a distinctive feature of Bali. The fact is that the water level can change significantly over the course of one day. Each hotel has an information board indicating the times of high and low tides. Also, by finding a world map in Russian on the Internet showing changes in water levels in the ocean, you can plan your schedule in Bali in advance.

Another feature of Bali is weather conditions. The island has two seasons:

You can go to Bali at any time of the year. Although trains in Bali are not cheap, there are still several ways to save money on your holiday.

  • Firstly, you can go to the island during the rainy season; the period from November to March allows you to get a certain discount from travel companies.
  • Secondly, you should book and pay for the tour 2-3 months before it starts.
  • Thirdly, you should compare and choose the best flight option, since the flight can be either direct or with a transfer, and none.

Judging by the reviews of tourists who were on holiday in Bali, this island is becoming more and more popular. Previously, this destination was considered exotic, and until a couple of years ago, the only foreigners on the island were Australians and Japanese, who are geographically closest to Bali. However, now the picture is changing, and more and more tourists from other countries are choosing Bali as their holiday destination. Bali is a place you want to visit, a resort you don’t want to leave, and an island you definitely need to return to.

The areas of Bali are very different and have different microclimates, infrastructure and nature, but together they make Bali a multifaceted and unique holiday destination. The south of the island is more populated and more tourist developed; the north and center of the island also attract tourists, albeit in smaller numbers. The east of the island offers a more calm and measured holiday. The western part of the island is chosen by tourists who want privacy and a taste of more traditional Balinese life.

Despite the relatively small size of the island of Bali, its different parts have a different atmosphere from each other.

There are eight municipalities (kabupaten) on the island of Bali.

1. Badung
2. Buleleng
3. Bangli
4. Denpasar
5. Gianyar
6. Jembrana
7. Karangasem
8. Klunkung (which includes the islands of Lembongan and Penida)

However, do not think that the municipalities and districts of Bali are the same thing.

But in this article we will not describe the administrative regions of Bali (more precisely, municipalities). The fact is that this information will not be very useful for readers who are planning their vacation on the island. Instead, we will tell you about the areas of Bali that tourists will need information about when choosing a place to stay on the island.

The choice of one or the other depends only on internal beliefs, personal preferences and financial capabilities. The entire coast of Nusa Dua is almost a continuous strip of 5-star hotels, the territory of which is quite problematic for those who do not live in a hotel.

The beach area is almost completely divided between hotels, which also helps protect guests from the close attention of others and annoying tourists who cannot afford a luxury vacation. On hotel premises you can often find expensive spas, beauty salons, swimming pools and golf courses, parks and pedestrian areas, recreation areas and chic restaurants. The Nusa Dua resort itself is a well-polished area for those people who are not used to counting money, value comfort and can afford a holiday of absolutely any cost. Film and television stars, musicians, politicians, athletes and other representatives of elite society, including those from Russia, often relax here.

If you are a budget tourist, then you should not think that Nusa Dua is completely inaccessible to you paradise. In order for you to relax in these places, it is enough to drive away from the coast, where you can rent housing. You will have to travel to the beach from afar, but you can choose open areas or the beaches of those hotels where access from the street is not blocked. In principle, all Bali beaches are open and free areas of land, but still some hotel owners somehow seek restrictions on visiting the beach located on the territory of their hotel.

Nusa Dua Beach is quite influenced by the tides, but even during high tide you can relax comfortably on the coast. The timetable for the occurrence of this natural phenomenon is contained on signs near the beaches of all resort hotels. Strong waves that occur here from time to time usually do not prevent tourists from sunbathing or swimming in the ocean.

On the territory of the Nusa Dua resort there is a large shopping center - Bali Collection, which can be reached on foot from almost any hotel. This place is considered the center of supermarkets, shops, boutiques, cafes and restaurants. If you decide to go shopping, then remember that prices here are slightly higher than in other Balinese resorts, but the goods are of excellent quality. In the same mall, in the gallery, in the evening they show various performances of national themes.

Thus, in close proximity to the fashionable Nusa Dua there is the resort of Tanjung Benoa - simpler and more accessible, less pretentious and expensive. Such proximity does not in any way detract from the merits of this place, but on the contrary further emphasizes its spontaneity and difference from its neighbor. Middle-income people who are accustomed to active entertainment and good service.

Tanjung Benoa can offer vacationers excellent opportunities for recreation and entertainment: cleanest beaches, azure clear waters ocean, boats, parachutes, jet skis, bananas and other water activities.

Not so long ago this is now resort village was a small fishing village and the main waterway of the city. Today, the port still operates here, but for other purposes - renting out vessels and equipment for active water recreation.

Tanjung Benoa Beach stretches for one and a half kilometers and is a wide strip of pure white sand. Just like in neighboring Nusa Dua, low and high tides are a standard phenomenon. You can find out the schedule of this natural phenomenon at any hotel.

Tanjung Benoa is a fairly young resort not only in Bali, but in Indonesia in general. Despite the fact that it began to develop quite recently, it has already gained enviable popularity and has become one of largest center water activities in this region.

The highlight of the resort is the fact that there are buildings representing various religious denominations modern world: Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam and Christianity.

It is noisy, often dirty, but at the same time very fun and interesting.

The best beaches are Tuban, Kuta, Seminak and Legian in Bali. Kuta Beach, famous for its wide strip of sand and noisy surf, is considered the most suitable for surfing. The remaining beaches are located on both sides of Kuta and are considered its logical continuation, albeit calmer and cleaner.

Seminyak has luxurious villas and unusual restaurants. If we talk about the coast as a whole, then calm swimming is practically inaccessible here, as there are underwater currents and powerful surf. Swimming is only possible in areas marked with red and yellow flags. Kuta is the best place for beginner surfers: large waves, as well as a complete absence of corals and underwater rocks, make the resort a suitable place for beginners.

Most bars, clubs and restaurants are open until the morning, but there are also those that close around midnight. Here you can leisurely cruise through the city streets, periodically visiting open bars until dawn. You will be accompanied by thousands of other tourists, who, just like you, are wandering around in search of adventure. Holidays are not available to every tourist, since the main segment of hotels is within 3 – 5 stars. As for cheap housing and hostels, this is very difficult here.

Sanur beach is clean, calm and quiet. There are practically no waves here. During low tide it is shallow near the shore, and to reach the depth you will have to walk for a very long time. This is why Sanur is considered favorite place for holidays with small children. Ubud

Indonesia is famous not only coastal resorts, but also those that are located in the wild jungle. One of these places is considered small town in the heart of the Balinese jungle - Ubud. It is nestled between picturesque rice terraces, river valleys and jungle-covered hills. Ubud is a place where you can not only have a relaxing time, but also get acquainted with the culture and history of the region.

The journey from the airport will take about an hour. If you are not ready to spend your entire vacation in such a place, then you can come here from any seaside resort in Bali for at least a few days. There are a lot of attractions, temple complexes, museums and art galleries, including some quite unique ones.

Bali resorts are quite diverse. If you want all the most expensive things, then you need to go to Nusa Dua, the fun nightlife– in Kuta, relaxation and tranquility – in Sanur, solitude with nature – in Lovina, getting to know the traditions of the island – in Ubud. It's time to make up your mind and hit the road!

The mere mention of Bali evokes thoughts of paradise. This is more than a place - it is a mood, an aspiration, a “tropical” state of mind. Bali, famous Island Gods is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the planet. Here, it would seem, everything is there: terraces of rice fields, white sandy beaches, picturesque green hills, alluring jungle thickets, harsh and majestic volcanoes, dense mangrove forests - places of stunning beauty that will take your breath away. All this coupled with an abundance of luxury resorts, SPA, excellent waves for surfing, beautiful coral reefs, interesting sights and amazing local culture attracts about three million tourists to the island every year. It's warm here all year round(air and water temperature 26-28 degrees), but it is worth considering that from December to March it rains, and it is unlikely that you will be able to sunbathe. The flight to Bali is long - from 12 hours, a visa (up to 30 days) can be issued at the airport.

Bali – a mix of cultures and religions

Perhaps the most alluring of Indonesia's islands, Bali is a unique fusion of cultures and religions. The main population is Hindu, but there is also a distinct sense of Southeast Asia. Bali has this eclectic mix that sets it apart from its neighboring islands. The locals are very friendly and smiling and it seems that they are not at all tired of the crowds of tourists. One cannot deny them a sense of humor; when they see a bald tourist, many will immediately wink slyly and say that the rain has been canceled, saying that their head is clear as a clear sky.

The island, which resembles a fish in its outline, is quite small: 150 km from east to west and 80 km from south to north, which is very convenient, because... There is only one airport in Bali, and in terms of sightseeing too. But it is large enough to maintain a calm atmosphere, despite the enormous influx of tourists. Here everyone can find a secluded corner and relax in solitude.

Geography of the island and the main resorts of Bali

South Bali is by far the most visited part of the island. Resorts such as Kuta, Bukit Peninsula, Sanur, Denpasar, Jimbaran, Canggu, Legian, Nusa Dua, Seminyak are all in the south.

West Bali is Negara, Pemuteran, Gilimanuk and national reserve West Bali.

Calm coastal villages: Amed, Candidasa, Besakih, Kintamani, Padang Bai, the active volcano Batur with a lake at the foot and the highest mountain on the island, Mount Agung - this is the east of Bali.

The quiet coastal islands in the southeast are popular among diving enthusiasts.

A chain of mountains with volcanic peaks, some of which remain active, runs through the center of the island. On the northern side of the ridge there is a rather narrow lowland, and on the southern side there is a plain, which is the center of Bali culture. Lush valleys and terraced hills where rice has been grown for centuries.

Ubud is the main cultural and tourist center of Bali.

It is these serene landscapes that surround Ubud - the main Cultural Center Bali. In numerous museums and galleries you can trace the history of Bali, get acquainted with arts and crafts. But to absorb a little of the local culture, it’s worth seeing colorful performances with traditional music and dances.

In Ubud you can find many ancient Hindu temples and observe the rituals performed. There is an abundance of all kinds of art centers and workshops involved in wood carving, batik and other local crafts. The most convenient way to ride through the narrow streets of the town is by bicycle, but you can also walk and see the sights. Ubud is the heart of Bali, a place where the island's spirit and culture come into focus. Maybe that's why there are so many tourists here, even though the nearest beach is almost an hour's drive away. To explore at least part of the attractions of Ubud and its environs, you will need at least a week: the sacred Monkey Forest, the Goa Gajah complex with a unique cave, Tirta Empul, built on thermal springs, the Yeh Pulu ensemble carved directly into the rock, the tombs of Gunung Kawi, the Chapel of the Mother Goddess ...

Kuta is the surfing capital of Indonesia.

A completely different resort town of Kuta. It is noisy, bright, here during the day the beaches are filled with surfers who have chosen the local tides back in the distant 1960s and 70s, and after sunset the nightlife is vibrant: many bars and nightclubs entertain the public almost until the morning. There are wide beaches with golden sand, luxury hotels, an unimaginable range of spa services, yoga is very popular, and a lot of shops and souvenir shops. During the day, the public relaxes on the beach or in the Waterbom Park theme water park, and in the evenings they admire the sunsets, which are magnificent in Kuta. People often come to this place for wedding ceremonies and honeymoons - the atmosphere is conducive to this.

Magnificent Nusa Dua – Balinese luxury hotel

In the south of Bali there is the Bukit Peninsula, in the eastern part of which there is a closed area with a number of 4*-5* hotels, a walking area with boutiques, restaurants and bars, a golf course, a conference hall, and most importantly, a wonderful beach with light sand. All this splendor is called Nusa Dua. The resort is considered elite, the staff is well-trained, there are no annoying street and beach vendors, in general, this is a slightly different Bali - luxury & premium.

Family-Friendly Resorts

For a family holiday, the calm and clear waters of Sanur and the well-protected beaches of Jimbaran are suitable. But surfers, along with Kuta, have chosen Seminyak. It should be taken into account that the entire coast of the island, where it is more and where it is less, is subject to tides. There is no need to be afraid, because... Most hotels have a schedule posted and so on. natural phenomenon you get used to it quickly.

Unsurprisingly, given the volcanic nature of the island, black sand is the norm, but there are beaches in the south that have fine-grained white sand.

Sights of Bali

Bali's most famous attractions are its countless Hindu temples. Each village has the right to build and maintain at least three temples, but wealthy villages are not limited to this number.

There are nine main temples located at strategic points throughout Bali, which are designed to protect the island and its inhabitants from dark forces. The most important for the Balinese is the Mother Temple (Besakih), located on the slopes of Mount Agung. The Uluwatu Temple on the southern tip of the island is very popular.

Temples are rarely the same in design. Each decorative detail is strictly thought out and has an earthly or spiritual nature. There are also common elements that are unchanged for the vast majority of temples. This is primarily a division into three courts: Jaba (outer court), Jaba Tenga (middle court) and Jaroan (inner court). Each of these courtyards contains separate structures and shrines of varying levels of importance.

The multi-level pagodas, covered with black palm fiber roofs, are very elegant. The number of tiers must be odd.

To enter any temple, you should wear a sarong, which you can rent, but it is more convenient to buy and always carry with you.

Natural attractions of Bali

All of Bali's mountains are dormant volcanoes, but some are still active. The magnificent Mount Agung (3142 meters) dominates the East Bali landscape and has remained tranquil since 1963. Much more active is the Batur volcano, constantly smoldering and periodically producing emissions. You can climb it in a couple of hours - it’s one of the most accessible active volcanoes throughout Indonesia.

Come to Bali too - you will have a good holiday!

This is Bali: so small and so big, so noisy and so calm... so different... Here you can watch how the mahouts wash and train the elephants and take a ride on the gray giant; freeze at the stunning view from the top of the mountain and admire the sunset; lie on the beach all day and catch the best wave of your life; see a lot of new and interesting things and just have a wonderful time relaxing.

P.S. Fans of all-inclusive holidays in Turkey may be disappointed by the island. In general, those who have visited Bali are divided into those who fall in love with the island once and for all and those who understand that this place is not for them. But it’s still worth coming here, otherwise how will you know...

There are many places closely associated with the island of Bali - Sanur, Denpasar, Uluwatu, Kuta and others. They differ from each other not only picturesque nature, but also the degree of tourist flow, price and proximity to the beach.

For those who like constant movement, fun, and big company, we recommend going to the Seminyak and Kuta areas. These are places of constant parties and active nightlife. In addition, here you can rent motorbikes or a car at any time. Shops, cafes, nightclubs are located nearby, whereas, as in other areas, you need to rent to get to them vehicle or take a taxi.

Do you want to be in the center of the surf crowd and don’t like too much gloss? Then head to Kuta. Here you won’t have to overpay for service or food. You can easily find a hotel costing $15-20 per room. Seminyak is Kuta's more expensive neighbor, where a more affluent crowd hangs out. There are restaurants with European interiors, designer boutiques, expensive hotels

with decent service, cozy villas.

For surfers, as well as for those who want to learn how to conquer the wave, you can choose the areas of Canggu, Ungasan, Jimbaran, Pechatu, Uluwatu. Here you will experience the true flavor of Bali and get in touch with the sport of surfing. In Chang, picturesque greenery, real villages, and rice fields are everywhere. There are no organized, fenced beaches with sun loungers in this place, since there are large waves and it is impossible to swim.

For those who do not need the ocean, who are looking for solitude in the green vegetation of the rice terraces, you can rent cozy house in Ubud. This is an area with real Balinese villages with fresh air, greenery, winding forests. Each village is engaged in a certain craft: making wooden crafts, silver jewelry, cutting stone statues.

The areas of Lovina, Candidasa, and Amed are more deserted and less popular. In these places, hotels and beaches are secluded, and young people will find them boring.
