The best resorts in Corfu with a sandy beach. The best sandy beaches of Corfu

Good afternoon friends! The resorts of Greece are great for summer holidays at the sea. Today I will tell you about the most interesting beaches of the Greek Corfu according to the reviews of Russian vacationers.

Corfu Island is located at the intersection of two seas. On the one hand, it is washed by the waters of the Adriatic Sea, and on the other, by the Ionian Sea. Therefore, the best beaches in Corfu vary significantly.

The beach can be safely called a legend, it is incredibly beautiful and romantic, it is a thin strip of coast, delimited from the outside world by tall cliffs (100m).

Available at low tide only. When the tide comes, the water rises high and reaches the rocks. Tourists get to the beach via two steep stairs, which are not designed for people in poor physical condition. Due to the inaccessibility, there is no infrastructure at all.

A stunning place on the beach is the upstairs terrace. The view from there is dizzying, and the best photos are taken during the crimson sunset.

Another popular beach in Corfu. It is located 16 km from Kerkyra, on the western tip of the island. It got its name from the church of Agios Gordios - a beautiful temple that will be of interest to connoisseurs of architecture.

The beach is located in a bay, cliffs rise around. Olive groves and vineyards grow on them. The views are fantastic. They will delight selfie fans indescribable.

This is the best place for families with small children, there is a shallow sea with a smooth sunset, pleasant sand on the shore. The kid will appreciate this fact.

The infrastructure on Agios Gordios is well developed - there are sun loungers, umbrellas, cafes, showers, toilets. Large selection of water activities.

Nissaki beach

The beach is located between Kassiopi and Barbati, and consists of many tiny coves inviting seclusion. Finding a more romantic corner in Corfu will not work. The coast is strewn with large pebbles. The pebbles are snow-white and contrast with the blue waters. Nissaki is incredibly attractive at sunset. Lovers from all over the world come here to see the sun hiding behind the horizon, plunging into the blue depths.

The entry into the water is gentle, and the sea itself is rather shallow and warm, which is very important for families with children. Another group of tourists who adore Nissaki are divers. The clear waters are rich in animals that scuba divers love to look at.

There are many taverns along the coast, serving the finest lunches and dinners, teeming with fish and seafood.

Paleokastritsa beaches

Paleokastritsa is one of the best resorts in Corfu. The beaches here fully meet all the requirements that even the most spoiled tourist can present. Local infrastructure implies comfort, all imaginable and inconceivable amenities. There are many hotels in the vicinity of the coastline, which unites six beaches.

The main beaches of Paleokastritsa are sandy, with small pebbles in places. The water is cooler here than in other regions of the island. But there are practically no winds - thanks to the high cliffs covered with green vegetation, fencing the beach sections from each other, making the area picturesque. The sea is clean, the recreation area has been awarded the Blue Flag.

There are many activities on the beach for lovers of active recreation on the water. You can take a boat trip, go to the rocky caves. Such a journey will be remembered for a long time. Such beauty is difficult to imagine just looking at a photo, it is better to see it with your own eyes.

Sidari beach

Another interesting Corfu beach is Sidari - a kind of mix of picturesque landscapes and excellent infrastructure. The most diverse audience comes here - married couples, elderly people, young people. Active tourists have the opportunity to ride water quad bikes and paragliders.

Of particular interest are the small bays delimiting the sandy capes, they can be found traveling along the coast. One of the natural attractions of the island, which is associated with romantic beliefs, is called the "Channel of Love", and is a narrow strip of sea between sand dunes. There is a passage in the rock that looks like an arch. It is believed that if you swim under it, guessing the name of your beloved, the relationship will definitely work out.

Perhaps you have not yet decided which resort in Greece to choose, read the article. Alternatively, consider a Cyprus holiday. Comparison of these two countries from the point of view of a tourist who does not care where to go, if only in the summer at sea, read.

If you have interesting stories about your holiday on the island, write to me, I will definitely publish them in the section "Readers' Travels", see the details. And on the topic of the article, leave comments, I will read them with pleasure. Subscribe to updates, I recently changed the design, which made the resource more convenient for the reader.

This is all that I wanted to tell you today, I say goodbye for a while, see you again!

Tatiana Solomatina

Today I will tell you about the peculiarities of a holiday on my favorite Greek island - Corfu. I have been to several islands of this wonderful country, but the island of Corfu has firmly taken the first place in my heart.

From skepticism to love

We rested on the island of Corfu in early September. I rode with a skeptical attitude - this place was highly praised, even suspicions crept in, but Corfu is a truly magical place, this is an island unlike any other in Greece. It has a strong Italian influence - especially in cuisine and architecture. And this is the only Greek island where you can see the Adriatic Sea. The second sea in Corfu is the Ionian. In principle, the features of the island are such that you can swim in the Ionian Sea in the morning, and in the Adriatic at lunchtime.

Vegetation and weather.

Corfu is very green. Compared to the islands of the Aegean region, it is just a jungle. But this lush vegetation has one caveat - it often rains and thunderstorms happen in Corfu. They are not lingering, but nevertheless the temperature of the air and water can lower. It is better to go here in July, August and the very beginning of September. Later, there is a risk of frequent rains. Yes, there are a lot of mosquitoes on the island in the evening, be sure to stock up on funds from them.

Corfu beaches

The beaches in Corfu are very diverse - sandy, pebble, mixed. Everyone will find something to their liking. There are long and extended, there are small coves. I'll tell you about the main beaches below in the review.

North coast of Corfu

In the north of Corfu - the Ionian Sea and sandy beaches. There are also beautiful sunsets here. The longest sandy beach in North Corfu - Acharavi beach... We were just staying there. The sea in this place is warm. The beach is comfortable, although sometimes it fills with pebbles with a wave and it will be inconvenient for young children to enter the sea (such a sinkhole is formed near the coast, and then again a flat sandy bottom). Adults - no problem.

There are many hotels along the entire beach, both large and small. It's a matter of taste - what to choose. The peculiarity of hotels in Corfu is that even three-ruble notes are often on the first line. This is due to the peculiarities of the structure of the island - it is elongated and there is a mountainous area in the middle, so the hotels are pressed to the shore. Not all, of course, but most.

Another sandy beach in the north of the island - Agios Spyridonus... Saint Spyridon is the patron saint of the island of Corfu. This beach has a chapel dedicated to him. The beach itself is in the bay, very picturesque and comfortable.

Also in the north of Corfu is the famous channel of love... This place Sidari... The place is generally quite calm, sandy beaches, but very compact. There are a lot of people on the beaches (since the beaches themselves are few). There are both small apartments and large hotels, but large ones are located far from the coast. For example, there is Cyprotel Panorama VIllage, which I considered as an option for myself, but abandoned this idea because of a child who would find it difficult to go to the beach.

The whole coast in the area Sidari very picturesque because of the folded rocks. It seems to me that living here on the beach in an apartment would be a good option.

West coast of Corfu

The west of Corfu is the Adriatic Sea. It is colder than the Ionian and there are mostly pebble beaches. Nearby, the water is clear, and when viewed from above it is inky blue. The vegetation is lush and picturesque. In the west of Corfu is the famous Paleokastritsa.

Not far from Paleokastritsa there is a castle Angelokastro... A stone staircase leads up to it, and from above there are magnificent views of Paleokastritsa and the Adriatic.

There are two wonderful beaches down the west coast - Glyfada beach and the beach Agios Georgios... Both are great. Sand, wide coastal line. At the very end of the Agios Georgius beach, there are picturesque cliffs.

This is Glyfada beach:

This is Agios Georgius beach:

East coast of Corfu

On the eastern side of the island of Corfu is the capital - the city of Kerkyra. Be sure to visit the old town and the sea fortress, they are very atmospheric. The old town is reminiscent of old Italian films. Narrow streets, shutters, clotheslines, canary cages ...

In Kerkyra, there is a Liston street, modeled on the Parisian Rue de Rivoli.

The temple of St. Spyridon is popular with tourists. The relics of the patron saint of the island of Corfu are kept there. If you are traveling by car, there is a large free car park along the harbor. There are many cars on it, but if you wish, you can find a place.

The sea on the east side of Corfu Ionian is very warm. This is the strait between mainland Greece and the island. There are hotels for every taste, I will write below about the hotels that I have considered and in which our friends were.

Not far from Kerkyra there is an architectural monument - Achillion palace... There lived Empress Sisi. The palace is small but pretty, with a well-tended garden around it. Most of all, I remember the pattio courtyard with Greek statues and the giant statue of Achilles.

North-east coast of Corfu island

The north-east of Corfu is a mountainous area, as this is where Mount Pantakrator is located. There is a small monastery on it. It is absolutely possible to climb the mountain by car, the main thing is that there is no fog, it interferes with a comfortable ride on serpentines. The mountains are very beautiful, quiet and easy to breathe.

And along the northeastern coast of Corfu, there are famous hotels and villas. This is the most respectable area of the island. Brad Pitt's villa is also lost somewhere here.

One of the coves in the northeast:

In the same part of the island is the former capital of the island - the fishing town of Kassiopi. It contains the freshest and most delicious fish.

On the south We did not reach the island, but according to the stories of the locals, there are wide sandy beaches and strong waves. Surfers go there.

Roads and car rental

You can rent a car in Corfu. It is better to do this not in a hotel (prices will be overpriced), but in rental offices. Keep in mind that problems with broken wheels and broken windows are not covered by any insurance. Insurance also does not work on a primer. The roads to Corfu are difficult, in some places there are quite steep serpentines (not for beginners driving), and in some villages there are such narrow streets that two cars simply cannot pass.

Kitchen to Corfu Greek, but with a strong Italian influence. Delicious pizzas are cooked in wood-burning ovens. The signature drink in Corfu is kumquat liqueur. It's so orange and looks like cough syrup.

HOTEL Acharavi Beach. We stayed here. The hotel is 3 stars, located on the 1st line from the beach, the rooms are both standard and studio (with kitchen). The food is very decent, although not a very large selection. For dinner 2-3 hot, snacks, salads, desserts. Everything is delicious. There is a beach bar with panoramic windows and a good selection of cauldrons. 2 swimming pools - adults and children. Rooms are small but comfortable. The only thing did not like- lazy maids (poorly cleaned) and a cot (not a bed) for a child on extra. location.

HOTEL Cyprotel Panorama VIllage(3 stars) in Sidari. Not a bad option if you are ready to walk to the beach for 10-15 minutes (downhill, back uphill). The beach is sandy, good for children - shallow for a long time. In general, I liked Sidari, it is quite calm and picturesque here.

HOTEL Corfu maris in the town of Benitses. Pay attention to this option. This is a small hotel with almost no territory. But he stands right by the sea, he has his own little beach, all rooms with sea views and the hostess is Russian (married to a Greek). Places here are sold out instantly. The hotel is quite budget. The cooks are very much praised and, which is a rarity for Greece, there is porridge for breakfast (you can feel the Russian hostess). Of the minuses - on one side of the hotel the sea, and on the other - the road and quite busy. But if you don't beat up the noise of cars, you can safely go here. Another plus of this place is that the airport is near, it is quick and convenient to get there. I wanted to get here, but did not have time - they sold out all the rooms.

HOTEL Messonghi Beach Resort(3 stars). Our friends rested here. This is a good place for families with children. Shallow beach, warm sea, there is a children's mini-club, slides, swimming pool, animation.
With numbers - how lucky. There are new surroundings, and there are old ones. They are very scolded and at the beginning of the vacation you can go to swear about relocation to normal conditions. The rest of the hotel is good. There are always a lot of people in it, but if this does not frighten, then choose it.

HOTELS Louis

And one good piece of advice to you. Beware of the hotels of the Louis system, for some reason they don't like Russians. I lived at the Luis hotel on the island of Zakynthos and it was not a good experience. The problem is that for some reason Russians are massively accommodated in the worst rooms. In Corfu, my friends got into history. There are two or even three Luis hotels in Corfu. One of them is located on the gorgeous Glyfada beach, the other is next to Kerkyra. Our friends who bought rooms in the Luis on the beach were sent to the one in the city, citing the lack of free rooms. And this is when booking through a tour operator and strongly in advance. As a result, instead of the sea, there was a pool, as well as scandals and a ruined vacation.

What else is good about the island of Corfu - from here they take them to the mainland to the eighth wonder of the world - Meteora. The tour takes a whole day, but the sight is worth it.

If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them.

Wish you all good travels and vacations!

When going on vacation to Greece, there is an opportunity to visit the best beaches of Corfu - an island washed by the Ionian and Adriatic seas. Since there are many beaches, we have compiled a description of the best of them, focusing on photos and reviews of experienced tourists. All of them can be found on the map.

Please note that all the beaches in Greece, and therefore on Corfu, belong to the municipality, so admission to them is free, but you will have to pay for the services of using umbrellas, sun beds, beach towels, renting equipment for swimming and diving.

One of the best beaches in Corfu is Paleokastritsa, located near the village of the same name. The cape, surrounded by rocks, looks very picturesque, the sea is always calm, however, cool, so even in June it will hardly be possible to swim. But the beach is sandy with a gentle entrance to the turquoise water, which is very convenient for families with children. There is a pier in the middle of the beach, from which excursions to the grottoes and caves go. You can stay near the beach, which has 3 places among the sandy beaches of Greece, in hotels:

  • with its own beach, swimming pools for adults and children, two meals a day;
  • with roof terrace, sun deck and two swimming pools;
  • with rooms equipped with a kitchenette and a restaurant with delicious meals.

The beach is located in a bay, so those who like big waves, please do not worry. The water warms up well here, so you can safely go with children. In taverns on the beach, where you order food, you will be offered free sun loungers - you can combine business with pleasure. If you don't order anything from food or drinks, you will have to pay for trestle beds and umbrellas on the beach.

You can settle in:

  • with double and family rooms, water slides, children's pool and club;
  • with an outdoor pool and stylish rooms;
  • with a terrace where you can admire the beauty of nature in fine weather.

Ask tourists which beach is wide in Corfu and find out what Barbati is. It consists of large white pebbles and has a rather steep entrance to the sea, which is not very convenient for children. But the water is very clear, famous for its high iodine content. Sun loungers and umbrellas on the beach are paid. You can have a hearty snack right on the shore. On weekends, many Greeks come here to hang out to loud music and pump up cocktails in local clubs. You can stay nearby in:

  • with pool, terrace and coffee maker in every room;
  • with comfortable rooms and breakfast;
  • with rooms with all conveniences and free Internet.

Dassia Beach, located in the eastern part of the island, is surrounded by olive groves. It is long, but narrow, sandy, but with small pebbles, which can be felt when entering the water. The descent into the sea is gentle, and the water is much warmer than in the western part, therefore it is considered one of the best beaches in Corfu for families with children. There is also something for divers to do here. You can visit cafes, bars and taverns in the village. Night clubs work for young people. You can settle down more expensively near the sea or cheaper, but with the prospect of walking a lot:

  • suitable for those who want to live in close proximity to the beach;
  • also located near the beach, offering guests to visit the sauna, beauty salon, kids club;
  • will surprise you with the pool and jacuzzi.

If you look at the photos and descriptions of the beaches of Corfu, you will notice that Kavos on the southeast coast of the island attracts young people, because there are many bars and discos working here. And if you climb to the top of the mountain, towering on the beach, you can admire the beautiful view. Families with children will love the sandy beach, warm sea and free sun loungers. There is also a place to stay here:

  • with new furniture in the rooms, tea accessories and bottled water in the rooms;
  • with rooms opening onto a terrace with a sea view and air conditioning for an extra charge;
  • with rooms with Ionian Sea views, private beach access and sun terrace.

The third most beautiful and comfortable beach in Corfu is the white sand Acharavi beach. And although it is located in the northern part of the island, there are practically no storms here, and the water is much warmer than on the western beaches. The infrastructure here is developed like nowhere else on the island - there is everything for a comfortable stay and food for tourists. You can choose hotels for every taste and price:

  • with 5-star rooms, pool and car rental;
  • with a fitness center and kids club;
  • with kitchenette, garden and wireless Internet.

If you want to visit a nude beach in Corfu, then you definitely need to get to Myrtiotiss, and if you are an adherent of the traditional swimsuit holiday, then settle near Benitses Beach, located in the southeast. The beach is covered with sand with an admixture of pebbles and has everything you need for relaxation and entertainment. Here you can ride a boat, catamaran or take a boat excursion. The hotel complex is also well developed here:

  • with its own access to the beach, ideal for the privacy of two lovers;
  • with rooms, mainly overlooking the sea;
  • offers guests comfortable rooms with balconies.

Paradise Beach is considered by many to be the most beautiful beach in Corfu, which is why it was called the “paradise beach”. You can get to it only by sea, as there are high cliffs around. Moreover, the boat has the right to drop anchor fifty meters from the shore, and then it will have to sail. On the left side of the pebble beach there are paid sun loungers with umbrellas, on the right there are huge boulders. The water is so clear that you can watch the fish. Of course, you won't be able to settle in this place, but there are some good offers in Paleokastritsa nearby:

  • located in a very picturesque location near two beaches;
  • located on a mountain, so beautiful sunrises and romantic sunsets are guaranteed, although you will have to pay extra for air conditioning, refrigerator and beach towels;
  • with rooms in Provence style and with obligatory balconies in the rooms.

To get to the most beautiful beach in Corfu, Porto Timoni, you will have to overcome a long descent, but you will see virgin nature and swim in the cleanest sea. If you don't want to go on foot, then you can sail there by catamaran. But you should definitely take an umbrella from the sun, as there is no shade there. And to fully enjoy this beauty, you can stay in hotels nearby:

  • although it is located 2 km from the beach, there are wonderful views from there that you can admire right from the balcony of your room;
  • located 3 km from the beach, where guests are offered clean rooms, restaurant food and relaxation by the pool;
  • located in a picturesque place, and you can admire the beauty of nature, leaving your room on a large balcony.

In the ranking of the best sandy beaches of Corfu, Glyfarda ranks first. It is a golden-sandy beach with warm water, surrounded by rocks, where families with children, as well as surfers or scuba divers like to relax. There are many cafes, playgrounds and attractions here. Some sections of the beach have a paid entrance. There are only five hotels near the beach, the rest are located in the village:

  • with tennis court, swimming pool and kids club;
  • with modern rooms and sun deck;
  • with local specialties in the bar.

Another sandy beach in Corfu is located in the northeast of the island. It is better to visit Kassiopi in summer, as strong winds blow here in September. The beach is equipped according to the latest requirements of civilization, and at the same time, a picturesque view opens up from it. There is also a stop where:

  • located in the vicinity of the city, close to tourist attractions;
  • with spacious comfortable rooms and restaurants in the immediate vicinity;
  • with comfortable rooms with bathroom and kitchenette, and a long list of additional services.

Messonghi and Moraitiki beach

This beach on the island of Corfu in Greece has a double name, as it is located in the vicinity of two villages of the same name. Messonghi and Moraitiki boast a sandy beach, clean sea water that warms up wonderfully and the equipment needed for a comfortable stay. And you can settle in:

  • where it is recommended to order breakfast and dinner, and at lunchtime try local dishes right in the cafe on the beaches;
  • with a good territory and a children's disco;
  • adapted for family holidays.

The island of Corfu, washed by two seas at once - the Adriatic from the west and the Ionian from the east, is very popular both among the Greeks themselves and among tourists from all over the world. Corfu is famous not only for its connection with ancient Greek myths and interesting architectural monuments, but also for the most picturesque landscapes, excellent climate and amazing beaches.

The beaches of Corfu are truly magnificent - soft golden sand and small pebbles, the cleanest sea, well-developed infrastructure, a variety of entertainment options for vacationers of all ages. On the beaches of Corfu, it is comfortable and safe to relax even with small children, since the coast is flat and the sea near the coast is shallow.

Nissaki

Nissaki is located in a cozy bay, the shores of which protect it from strong winds and waves. This picturesque Corfu beach is located in the northeast of the island, between the resort villages of Barbati and Kassiopi. Nissaki Beach is a great place for a calm, measured rest, usually it is not too crowded here and you can easily find a secluded place where no one will bother you. Romantic lovers love Nissaki very much precisely because of the small coves where you can hide from prying eyes and admire the delightful views of the sea.

Nissaki is popular with divers - the crystal clear water allows you to see rich marine life and explore caves

Nissaki is also popular with divers - crystal clear water allows you to see the rich marine life, the beauty of underwater landscapes, as well as explore the caves formed in the rocks. The beach is also suitable for families with children - the entrance to the sea here is rather shallow.

Near Nissaki, there are several taverns serving the freshest fish, seafood specialties and excellent local food. A little further, there is a fishing port where you can hire a boat to go fishing or sailing along the coast.

Sidari

Sidari Beach, located in the vicinity of the village of the same name, is considered the youngest in Corfu - it is always fun and lively here. By the way, Sidari beach, like Paleokastritsa, was also mentioned in our other article about Kerkyra -.

Sidari is a long coastal strip, as well as several coves separated by high sandy capes. One of these capes is separated by the Lovers' Channel - a picturesque and romantic place where couples in love love to meet sunrises and sunsets. They say that a couple who have swum through the channel holding hands will never part; if you are in search of a soul mate, you need to swim under the arch formed in the rocks.

Lovers' Channel - a picturesque and romantic place

The infrastructure of the Sidari beach in Corfu is well developed - there is a rental of sun loungers and umbrellas, paragliding, yachts, ATVs are organized, a diving and surfing school operates. In the immediate vicinity there are many cafes, restaurants, bars, clubs where music and fun never stop even at night.

Peroulades

On the famous Peroulades beach, located two kilometers from Sidari, tourists come not to swim and sunbathe, but to admire the magnificent sunset. The beach itself is a narrow strip of sand, over which one hundred meter cliffs rise - so narrow that only one sun lounger can fit on the coastal strip. You can go down to Peroulades beach only by rather steep wooden stairs, arranged right in the rocks. During high tides or light waves, the coastal strip is completely flooded with water.

Upstairs, on the rocks overhanging the beach, there are several parking lots, as well as a tavern with an open terrace, from where you can enjoy a delightful view of the sea - here you can have a glass of great, a delicious dinner, and if you wish, stay overnight. Peroulades beach is quite popular, therefore, tables in the tavern and apartments must be booked in advance.

Agios Gordios

The best beach on the west coast of Corfu, Agios Gordios is located about 20 kilometers from the city. Not far from the sea, right in the coastal zone, is the church of Agios Gordios, which gave the name to the place.

This magnificent sandy beach lies in a beautiful bay surrounded by quaint cliffs overgrown with olive trees and vineyards. The sand on the shore of the beach is very shallow and soft, the descent into the sea is long and gentle, and the sea is always calm, thanks to which Agios Gordios is very popular among tourists with small children - children are happy to splash in shallow water.

Agios Gordios lies in a beautiful bay surrounded by quaint cliffs

A series of small holiday cottages stretches along the beach - each cottage has its own access to the sea. Both on the territory and in the vicinity of the beach there are many bars, cafes and taverns where you can eat or enjoy cool drinks, as well as a small shop and a souvenir shop. As in other beaches of Corfu, you can rent umbrellas, sun beds, air mattresses, catamarans here.

Paleokastritsa

Paleokastritsa beach, considered the best in Corfu, is located in the village of the same name, 25 kilometers northwest of the capital of Corfu. The beach area consists of six sandy and sandy-pebble beaches surrounded by picturesque cliffs and green olive groves.

There are a lot of cozy bays with a gently sloping coast - covered by rocks from waves and winds, they are the best fit for a family vacation: you can swim and sunbathe here even with small children - it is completely safe.

There are many cozy bays with a gentle coast in the beach area of Paleokastritsa

Paleokastritsa is also loved by divers: the coastal underwater world is striking in its diversity and splendor, in addition, one of the best diving centers in Corfu is located in Paleokastritsa. From here, excursions to rocky caves go, which can only be reached by water - by boat or boat.

The best beaches in Corfu are located mainly on the western side. Among them - Agios Gordios, Paleokastritsa and Glyfada... With clear waters and lush greenery, Corfu's beaches attract many tourists every summer. Almost all of them are sandy, although there are several pebble areas among them. It is believed that the water on the west coast is colder than on the east.

The most famous beaches in Corfu

Paleokastritsa

Paleokastritsa is perhaps the most famous picturesque village of Corfu, 25 km northwest of Kerkyra. "Paleokastritsa" literally means "Old Fortress". Sources claim that the fortress really stood on a rocky mountain, where the monastery of the Virgin Mary is now located.

The village has six sandy and pebble beaches surrounded by olive groves, which are scattered throughout the area. The water is very cold here and the underwater world is very interesting. There are small boats that go to isolated beaches - small coves with turquoise water and numerous caves. The main beach of Paleokastritsa is quite small, but very famous for its cold waters and amazing views. It is considered one of the best beaches in the Greek islands and is surrounded by many bars and taverns, so it is rarely quiet during the day.

Agios Gordios

The Paradise Bay of Agios Gordios is one of the largest bays in the western part of the island, easily accessible by bus, taxi or private car. The resort village is located in a beautiful bay surrounded by mountains, olive groves and vineyards. The picturesque long sandy beach is fully developed and offers opportunities for all kinds of water sports. The beach is always crowded and noisy - thanks to the shallow and warm waters off the coast, many families with small children rest here. Don't forget to take a photo with the local symbol, Ortholithi, a massive rock emerging from the water at the southern end of the bay.

Glyfada

Glyfada is a picturesque green bay where the blue sky meets the emerald sea. It is one of the most popular beaches on the island, located 16 km west of Kerkyra and adjacent to the Gulf of Agios Gordios. Glyfada has been awarded the Blue Flag for its crystal clear sea. An extended strip of soft golden sand is surrounded by powerful cliffs. The beach has sun loungers and umbrellas, shops and taverns. Glyfada attracts mainly young people, it is noisy and fun. The beach is also perfect for families with small children, as there are shallow waters, clear water and a fairly calm sea. Glyfada is one of the finest examples of the island's sandy beaches and an excellent choice in close proximity to the capital of Corfu. In addition, there is a riding club, a golf course and Aqualand water park just 4 km away.

Mirtiotissa

Mirtiotissa is a small sandy beach on the west coast of Corfu. English writer Lawrence Durrell called it the most beautiful beach in the world. Myrtiotissa today is one of the most popular places on the island of Corfu, although not so long ago only a select few knew about it. The beach owes its name to a beautiful monastery, which stands on the side of a mountain, high above the sea. In fact, there are three miniature beaches nestled right under the steep cliffs. The left one, with golden sand, just over 20 m in diameter, is the most famous nudist beach on the island.

Nissaki

Nissaki is one of the most beautiful beaches in Corfu. A beautiful sandy coast surrounded by rocks, located between the villages of Barbati and Kassiopi, 22 km north of Kerkyra. There are only a few tourist attractions on this small beach, which is located off the road. The bay of Nissaki is protected from strong winds, and the entrance to the sea is very gentle. The water is clean, so snorkelling lovers can admire the underwater inhabitants. Near the beach there is a small picturesque port where fishing boats dock. The beach is surrounded by good taverns serving fresh seafood and local specialties.

Issos

Golden sand and azure sea - this is how you can characterize the Issos beach, located 35 km south of Kerkyra. The endless coastline with unique sand dunes and crystal clear waters is ideal for a family holiday. The rich local flora divides the shore by Lake Korission, the island's unique ecosystem. On its shores you can find waterfowl, ibises and herons, as well as turtles, otters and other animals. The beach is well equipped, along with many tourist sites, a lifeguard tower and a water sports center. Issos experiences strong winds and is the best windsurfing and kitesurfing spot on the island. Lush forests and a lake provide a unique hiking environment, while high sand dunes offer beautiful sunset views.

Channel of love

The village of Sidari, located 36 km from the capital of the island, is known as one of the best tourist resorts in Corfu. Not far away, just to the west, is the famous "Channel of Love" ("Channel d'Amour"). This is a tunnel compressed by rocks on both sides. By tradition, couples who swim through it together will live happily ever after, and those who have not yet found their soul mate will soon find a soul mate. There are beaches with golden sand and shallow waters next to the canal, which are great for families with children.

Logas Peroulades

Logas Peroulades is a narrow strip of sand surrounded by the tallest cliffs on the island. It is located 36 km northwest of Corfu town and is considered to be one of the most beautiful places on the island. This beach is famous for its sheer vertical cliffs and beautiful azure sea.
