The Sunny Beach is in the arms of Bulgaria. Bulgaria

Sunny Beach is a holiday city, always cheerful, noisy, hospitable, living in a 24-hour rhythm and never getting tired

Sunny Beach: non-stop resort

The city is a holiday, always cheerful, noisy, hospitable, living in a round-the-clock rhythm and never getting tired. Sunny Beach– one of the largest and most popular resorts in Bulgaria. More than 100 hotels, 250 restaurants, long sand beach, gentle entrance to the water. All conditions have been created for relaxation here, and they are thought out to the smallest detail.

For us, Sunny Beach is ideal in many ways. It is very well located, the airport is only 36 kilometers away. From the north the resort is adjacent to St. Vlas, from the south famous city 40 churches, . Getting there is not difficult:

  • You can take a taxi, 1 kilometer costs 3 leva;
  • on regular bus for 1.5 leva;
  • on a blue tourist train – 3 leva;
  • on a small boat from the pier, also 3 leva.

Sunny Beach is a safe and very clean resort. It is impossible to dig up a cigarette butt or a piece of glass on the beach. The sand is leveled, cleaned, and smoking is allowed only in specially designated areas. In the stores, no one bothers you or tries to force you to buy, everyone is welcoming, friendly, many understand Russian.

Looking for landmarks

There are no attractions as such in the city. It would be a stretch to include a water park, a casino, an embankment, and a pier among them. But no matter how you look, you won’t find historical buildings, monuments, sculptures, churches. The resort was originally planned back in 1957 as tourist area. The oldest buildings are hotels built in the Soviet style, and even they are now being modernized without exception.

For a rich excursion program, you can go not only to neighboring or Saint Vlas. We went to Varna, Elenite, for this you can to rent a car or use public transport. Comfortable air-conditioned buses run between cities. The schedule is indicated at any stop.

Prices for tours to the Sunny Beach resort

Last minute tours to Bulgaria to the Sunny Beach resort can be purchased from 25,000 rubles for two people. The package includes air tickets, hotel accommodation, and breakfasts. Tourist trips are carried out both from Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Beach

The length of the beach is about 10 kilometers, the width ranges from 30 to 60 meters. Underfoot there is only sand, without the slightest hint of pebbles. The territory is divided into free and paid areas. On the free ones you can come with your own towel and umbrella. Paid ones are more comfortable, equipped with Italian umbrellas and sunbeds; for a sunbed and umbrella you will have to pay 8-10 leva.

During the season there are many vacationers on the beach, the resort receives up to 300 thousand people at a time, but no one lies on anyone’s head, the size of the beach allows it. Paid sunbeds are at best only half occupied.

Entry into the sea is gradual, ideal for children and non-swimmers. Even at the buoys you can reach the bottom; the water will be approximately up to your neck. The sea is clean, algae, of course, appears periodically, but they are quickly removed. There is never such green water as, for example, in Anapa.

As for safety, there are many rescue towers and, accordingly, lifeguards on the beach. If the sea is very stormy, you will not be allowed to enter it. It happens that you can be near the shore, but you cannot go into the depths. If the lifeguard notices a violation, he will personally “catch” the wave swimmer.

Bulgarian Las Vegas

There is a lot of entertainment at the resort, or rather, at every turn. This is the Bulgarian version of Las Vegas. The entire embankment and adjacent streets are a large entertainment area where everyone will find something that suits their interests.

  • For athletes, these are fitness centers, mini-golf courses, tennis courts, volleyball and basketball courts, and shooting ranges. There are all kinds of water activities on the beach. You can ride on a parachute tied to a boat; this pleasure costs 50 euros;
  • For children - various playgrounds, animation, discos, children's clubs, an amusement park, trampolines, labyrinths along the embankment;
  • The city has many nightclubs and bars. Among the most famous: “Iceberg”, “Lazur”, “Viking”, “Soho”;
  • At a number of hotels, for example, "Kuban", "Laguna Park" There are small water parks; entry is free for guests of the respective hotels; everyone else can buy a separate ticket. The Action water park occupies a separate area of 36 hectares and is one of the largest in Bulgaria. Admission for children under 90 centimeters tall is free. Height from 90 to 130 - 19 leva for a whole day of visiting and 13 leva for three hours. Adults pay 38 leva for the whole day and 28 for three hours;
  • On the street, artists will draw a portrait, and in souvenir shops they will write your name on a grain of rice. Lots of fun like, hit as many balloons as possible with a dart, get a toy;
  • For lovers of gambling, there are casinos and slot machines;
  • Transport entertainment includes riding in open carriages around the city, traveling on bicycles and auto-rickshaws. Anyone can rent a bicycle or hoverboard.

Hotels in Sunny Beach – Where to stay?

If we look at the map of Sunny Beach, we will see coastline and hotels, hotels, restaurants, hotels, cafes. The residential sector is far behind. The resort is a real tourist Mecca, living for guests. Hotels of various levels and star ratings, apartments and even campsites. Find suitable option not a problem for myself. We tried different options and were always satisfied.

Hotels operate both on an all-inclusive basis and on a breakfast-only basis. Hotels with three or four stars are of a very decent level. The apartments are located in the depths, 600 hundred meters from the sea. But the road along the boardwalk does not seem long and tiring even with children.

In our opinion, the following hotels can be distinguished: Barceló Royal Beach, Planeta Hotel, Helena Sands Hotel, Palace Hotel. But there are many good hotels and apartments in Sunny Beach, so it all depends on preferences and interests. Some hotels offer health services, some are famous for their convenient location, and some have a very good spa area. Here is our selection of inexpensive and expensive popular hotels:

  • Hotel Bellevue - Beach Access— four stars, with all-inclusive service, in high season the cost of a room for two can cost from 100 €;

The resort of Sunny Beach (in Bulgarian Slanchev Bryag) is an amazing harmony majestic mountains and the gentle sea, the largest international resort in Bulgaria, with a beach stretching for several kilometers, the width of which reaches 120 meters, beautiful fine, golden-yellow sand and clear sea. The entrance to the water is surprisingly flat, the sea near the shore is very shallow, and children, even without knowing how to swim, can splash around in the shallow water to their heart's content. For the cleanliness of the beach and sea, Sunny Beach was awarded the prestigious international Blue Flag award (Blue Flag, a certificate of beach quality established by the European Commission for the Environment and awarded annually to areas based on the results of testing the cleanliness of water and sand). It is conveniently located in a crescent-shaped bay, surrounded to the north by mountain range Stara Planina, resorts Elenite, Sveti Vlas, in the south, just behind the natural sand dunes, literally 5 minutes away, on the peninsula, there is the ancient and romantic city - museum of Nessebar, the east is open, and in the early morning over the Stara Planina ridge, (almost there, where the mountain dies into the sea) the sun rises, the rays of which are especially beneficial for health. IN Lately a lot of new hotels are being built, the resort is expanding, roads and supermarkets are appearing (Perla Mladost - open all year round, open 24 hours a day in the summer).

Beaches

The beaches in Bulgaria are all municipal, free, but a sunbed with an umbrella costs money (7 lev umbrella and 7 lev sunbed) Although you can just lie down on your towel or mat - there are more than enough free places, swim and sunbathe, enjoying the sun and sea. The beach is separated from the hotels by a pedestrian street - "Promenade". The beach season lasts from May to October.

Story

The Sunny Beach resort was opened in 1959 (its fiftieth anniversary was recently celebrated). Administratively, Sunny Beach is part of the city of Nessebar, the old part of which is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Bulgaria. The resort became famous back in Soviet years; It was prestigious to send children from the USSR and Warsaw Pact countries there. At that time, Bulgaria was almost the only foreign country, where children could be sent on vacation, since the Iron Curtain existed. Currently, the resort has many modern hotels and apartments for private residence.

Weather

The climate of the Sunny Beach resort is mild, the breath of the sea softens the heat even at its peak
summer, the average daily temperature in summer is 27 degrees, there is a lot of sun - about 1700 hours, the water temperature is from +20 to +26 degrees, and its salinity is two times lower than in the Mediterranean Sea.

Fromstory
...The sea is the main wealth of Bulgaria. Sea and beach.
Immediately after arriving, we threw our suitcases and went to the beach. So timidly, timidly, not yet knowing the way, poorly oriented. It was already evening, it was about six. The beach was empty, white umbrellas were closed, blue sun loungers were folded, there were no people at all - everyone was getting ready for dinner. The sun gilded the sand, the sea ahead licked the gently sloping shore. We stunned by beauty.
The beach spit is wide. The sand is white-golden. The coast is flat. The sea is opal green. Seagulls. The beauty for the eyes is incredible.

The sea and sky are like a giant open book, and the horizon is the binding line. On the top page there is a soft blue sky and clouds that look like thickets of corals, dolphins and fish; on the other there is a sea shimmering with mother-of-pearl that mirrors the sky.

A little about the Sunny Beach resort.

I read a lot of reviews and other information about Bulgaria, but I could not understand what the resort itself is - what is it? - an area with hotels along the sea with the same name as in Turkey, or is it a resort town. What is the infrastructure like? Is it possible to go somewhere in the evening, sit somewhere, buy something?
Now everything is clear:).
Sunny Beach - this is a huge city of hotels, it is considered the largest resort in Bulgaria and is located in the south of the Bulgarian Riviera near Burgas. Imagine figuratively: a semicircle of the sea, a beach line, a small promenade, a fairly wide, “thick” (~ one kilometer) line of hotels - restaurants - shops, behind it - a highway, then a line of simpler hotels - apartments - construction sites - shops for Bulgarians - bus station - stadium, etc. Sunny Beach itself is quite flat and not very green, unlike, for example, Golden Sands and Albena, which are located on a hill and surrounded by forests.

The sea on Sunny Beach is a bay in the form of a convex semicircle. If you stand facing it, then to your left you can see the quiet half-resort-half-village of Saint Vlas, and to your right the ancient town of Nessebar. You can compare Sunny Beach to a giant soup plate, along the slopes of which colorful hotel buildings and red-tiled houses flow down to the sea. But - this rather refers to enough high mountains on the side of St. Vlas.
Myself beach, incredibly long and horseshoe-shaped. Inside the horseshoe is the sea. The length of the resort (measured along the beach) is ~10 km. There are two piers on the beach - in the center of the beach and on its right side. Boats run from them to Nessebar. I will write in detail about the sea and the beach in other chapters.

Somewhere in the center of the resort, perpendicular to the sea, there is a main street, or it is - central alley. The main landmark is the Kuban Hotel - a long gray tower. This bustling alley divides the resort into two parts.. The left one (if you are facing the sea) is older, i.e. built up a long time ago, the one on the right is newer, i.e. built not long ago and continuing to be built up. Respectively the left half is much more active, noisy, lively than the right. Let’s even say this: excessively, excessively, overly lively. All this does not mean that the right side is quiet :), no, it is just as cheerful, but in moderation! This is an important understanding, because if you are not a fan of loud night fun, and you find yourself in the loud half, your vacation will be ruined.
Our hotel was (as you understand :)) on the right, quieter part of the resort. Accordingly, I will describe the sea, the beach, the territory and infrastructure of this part and near our hotel. I am not able to cover the entire 10 km space :).

The main components of your holiday. Sea and beach.

Marine chapter.

Probably, this is where it would be worth starting the story about Bulgaria, and not with a description of everything else.
Bulgaria takes it by sea.
The sea is the main wealth of Bulgaria. Sea and beach
.
Immediately after arrivalWe threw their suitcases and let's go to the beach. So timidly, timidly, not yet knowing the way, poorly oriented. Behind the hotel we crossed a narrow asphalt road and walked along a boardwalk lined with roses to the embankment and the beach. It was already evening, it was about six. The beach was empty, white umbrellas were closed, blue sun loungers were folded, there were no people at all - everyone was getting ready for dinner. The sun gilded the sand, the sea ahead licked the gently sloping shore. We were stunned by the beauty. The beach spit is wide. The sand is white-golden. The coast is flat. The sea is opal green. Seagulls. The beauty for the eyes is incredible.

The sea here on Sunny Beach is amazing. Ideal, in my opinion. It is such the right color - dimmed green, transparent and silky water.

I remember that I imagined an almost ideal product of the work of glossy magazines, the beach bag was weighed down under the weight of various important products, without which it is “impossible” to stay at sea - sunscreen for the body, sunscreen for the face, after-sun cream for the body, after-sun cream for the face, spray to save hair from the sea and sun, lipstick to save your lips from the sea and the sun, cream to save your heels from the sand, as well as five swimsuits for changing wet ones... The cost of the junk in this bag was compared with the cost of the vacation itself.

For what? Who came up with all this? Spread synthetics on yourself and protect yourself from natural energy and a lot of useful substances. What could be better and healthier than sea water and soft velvety sand on the shore? Is it really possible to swim in the vitriol water of swimming pools? The salinity of water in the Black Sea is 18 grams of salt per 1000g of water (in the Mediterranean Sea - 36 grams). The surface layer contains magnesium, potassium, sulfate and bicarbonate salts. Everything has a beneficial effect on the human body. The sand on the beach is soft and golden, also rich in medicinal salts. Yes, just the sight of the beach, mountains and these distantly visible towns is good for your health!

I am for a quality cream against sunburn, but we must stop there. Dive headlong into the water, swim from your belly until you’re blue in the face, open your eyes in sea water, lie on the water like a starfish - with your arms and legs spread out, look at the sky and listen to the rustling of the sand at the bottom, swim behind the buoy, swing on the mattress, throw balls and raise splashes, plow the sea with a scooter and breathe in the fresh wind, collect shells and properly squeal in fear at the sight of jellyfish, build sand castles, bury yourself in the sand and run on the sand. Give your hair to the wind, sun and sea - see how it shines. Wipe off the manicure and pedicure from your fingers and see how healthy and pink they become. Do not wash off the salt from your body five minutes after bathing; wait a little and see how soft your skin becomes.

People who call a vacation by the Sea “vegetable” are people with latent complexes. It seems to them that by calling a vacation by the Sea a “vegetative existence” and exchanging it for running around the sights in the heat, they emphasize their “education and broad outlook.” On vacation, you need to give your body rest, not stress. Immerse your body, exhausted and overwhelmed by artificial values, in real living water, give it the opportunity to receive unlimited benefits from the sea, let it recover, and then start sightseeing. By the way, there are many attractions, but your body is one and only.

By the way, if you are friends with sports, then here in Sunny Beach you can run along the sea. I was always looking for a beach that didn’t have restrictions in the form of piers, like in Turkey, and screams “show your pass on our territory,” so that there was such an endless strip of sand and so that no one got in the way :). Here I realized - I finally found THIS place, however, I need to get up early in order for the last point of the requirements to be fulfilled :). During the day you can run along the sea, but in zigzags - overtaking the walking mass of vacationers. A couple of times I rushed barefoot, in a swimsuit, like a light-footed doe through the water and sand, about a kilometer each time - great!

Beach Chapter.

Sunny Beach is perfect resort For children's recreation .

The sea is ideal for children, children and teenagers. Very flat bank, i.e. By Turkish standards, you will reach, for example, a buoy, and you will still be knee-deep. You just need to be more careful with the waves - the shore is shallow and flat, and the waves with foam are strong and addictive - you need to watch the child. The sea is clean, the water is clear. There are a lot of tiny shells on the sand in the water near the shore - children love to collect them, if you go deeper into the sea, you can feel with your foot on the smooth sandy bottom, something hard - these are already large living shells - ratans. With some skill you can get them by grabbing them with your feet or diving.

You can see tiny crabs right on the shore - children are delighted. Jellyfish swim in the sea - these big, snotty, transparent caps with a bunch of tentacles. But here in the Black Sea, jellyfish are not dangerous, they don’t even sting and you can stroke them, and when these sea creatures are thrown ashore by the waves, you simply cannot drive away the children - an enthusiastic crowd of little fans immediately gathers around them. The sand here is simply amazing - fine, soft and light, it is easy to build with and it does not stick wildly to towels and other things. In Turkey, for example, it’s impossible to sit on the hot sand - it’s practically a sizzling frying pan, but here it’s beautiful! Adult uncles and aunts are serious competition for little sand builders. Having not played enough and not having made sand cakes in childhood, now they selflessly erect such towers, such fortresses, dig such canals, and sculpt such things - that Salvador Dali can be safely sent to retirement.

Mandatory purchase - a circle and a mattress. We walked around for a very long time and enthusiastically chose these accessories. The choice is rich. What is there? From the abundance of children's small mattresses, boats, circles, armbands, vests, crocodiles-bananas and other joys, we settled on a red chic circle in the form of a car with a plastic steering wheel in front and with safety tapes crossing in the opening of the circle (so as not to slip out). But as it turned out, we were in a hurry - the circle should be soft and should not have hard parts, because when a child gets into the water, he wants to press the circle with his chest, and the steering wheel gets in the way in front - this is inconvenient. (A year later we bought a huge and soft plane).

The mattress we chose was terribly beautiful :) - transparent red with palm trees, but it was pumped up a couple of times on the beach. (Circle - 7 leva, mattress - 10-20, depending on the design). We also came to the sea with our own bucket, shovels and rakes, but it turns out that buying everything here is not a problem. There is also a large selection of different accessories for games and diving - balls with rackets, masks, fins, waterproof goggles, etc. There are plenty of balls, and they are especially cute and funny, just for kids - small ones with a fist, in the form of a watermelon and so on..

One day a large Swedish family settled on the sun loungers next to us, and we noticed that Swedish children have incredibly beautiful baby towels, the girl's is soft pink with cats, and the boy's has multi-colored geometry. Then we also went searching. We bought a couple - one in Nessebar with ducklings, and the second in Sunny Beach with Winnie the Pooh. In both cases, the child chose and was incredibly delighted with the selection process. (Children's towels - 8 leva). We bought a beautiful and huge towel for ourselves, since there are kilometers of them, with all kinds of designs - it’s impossible to pass by. (Adult towels from 10 to 20 leva).

A sunbed on the beach costs 6 leva, an umbrella is also 6 leva. The first day on the beach we paid for the entire set, i.e. for 2 sunbeds and an umbrella 18 levs (~9 euros), then we lost our minds and doubted whether we had done the right thing. The fact is that we definitely only need an umbrella, well, we can take one more sunbed, and that’s just “to have it.” Lying quietly on it and sunbathing when you are with a child is useless :). Not a single moment of peace - apply cream, put on a Panama hat, change panties, take out a banana, run for a ball, run for shells, build a fortress, swim, dry off, and again all over again. There were no problems with places on the beach. We always took the sunbeds closest to the sea. In front, near the sea, there are usually “freeloaders” - i.e. people sunbathing on their towels. They are not allowed to open their umbrellas on the first line, only away from the sea, behind the rows of sunbeds.

No one lay in front of us and did not block the sea for us, because we were constantly building complex fortifications :).
There is a lifeguard tower every 100m on the beach. If it hangs on it green checkbox- the sea is calm, you can swim; If yellow- you can swim, but on mattresses only near the shore; If red- the waves are strong and you can’t swim. It should be noted that a couple of times after lunch, after putting the child to bed at the hotel, I swam in such waves. The pleasure is extraordinary. Firstly, it is quite safe, because it is shallow, and you are not afraid that a wave will cover you and carry you away (as I did once in Spain). Secondly, you get an indescribable thrill when you jump on such waves, when you fly up to the crest and fall, snort, spit and prepare for a new attack. Because of such wave lovers, the sea was crowded - adults lined up in a chain and, with childish delight, rushed onto the approaching waves.
And once my sleepy dreams on the mattress were dispelled by demanding whistles - I raised my head - who has been whistling so annoyingly for half an hour? It turned out to me... She swam far, but the flag was yellow.

There are many different beach activities on the beach - parachutes, scooters, bananas, huge circles, etc.

The most expensive pleasure is a parachute - 40 leva, the cheapest - a banana - 10 leva. Not far away, under the awnings, they give a massage - full, for 1 hour - 50 levs, partial, 15 minutes - 25-35 levs.
There is a changing cabin and toilet on the beach. There is a volleyball court. Croquet courts are very popular along or near the beach promenade.
If it's lunch time, many foreigners (we copied from the Swedes) snacked on what looked like very appetizing sandwiches on a grilled bun from a nearby beach cafe.
The beach and sea are clean, but everything depends on you and me - unless the vacationers themselves throw bags and cigarette butts there :) . During the day, female cleaners walk along the beach with large garbage bags, and in the evening, special machines sort through the sand.
It should be noted that I am now only describing a piece of the beach near our hotel (as well as the Neptune Hotel).

Because the beach is different everywhere. Near us it was very wide, the piers did not block our view of the sea, but were quite far away. When we walked along the sea in one direction - to the central pier, and in the other direction - to the second pier at the Burgas Hotel - the beach changed. This remark especially applies to the direction towards the center - the coast was a little steeper, the concentration of people was much denser, the beach itself was narrowed by cafes advancing from the resort line, so there was more crowding here. I don’t know if this is good or bad, who likes what. In the direction of “Burgas” - I liked the picture much more - there is little development, an almost flat coast, the beach is wide and excellent, there is a lot of space free from sunbeds to sit on your towels.

I wonder what widespread tattooing of the population has reached its peak- here in the south, you can just appreciate its scale - on children, adults and the elderly. The first and last ones are especially impressive. The sight of a scorpion on a fragile child’s shoulder or an eagle with open wings above the butt of some German pensioner is too killer cool.

I already wrote that the beach opens up very beautiful view. I want to repeat myself and end this naval chapter here. To do this, I will comment on the official information: “In the northern part the resort closes with the last elevation mountain range Stara Planina, which creates a magnificent harmony of the combination of mountains and sea". - The point about harmony is absolutely correct :). There is both the sea and harmony and they are truly magnificent.

Story “In the arms of Bulgaria. Mosaic of impressions. Sunny Beach"

Series of Bulgarian posts:

Sunny Beach (Bulgarian: Slanchev Bryag). Bulgaria.
Black Sea coast Bulgaria.

The largest seaside resort in Bulgaria, occupying an area along a long golden sandy beach (8 km). The resort is more focused on organized holidays in hotels and boarding houses. The name “Sonnenstrand” is also in use, as the Germans call the resort, “Sunny Beach”, as the British call the resort.

Directly from Burgas Airport to Sunny Beach you can take municipal bus No. 10 Burgas - Sunny Beach, it goes through the airport. True, the stop on this route is not at the airport itself, but on the far side of the entrance to the airport near the highway interchange bridge, a five-minute walk from the airport terminal.

The price of a ticket for bus No. 10 in the summer of 2019 to the bus station (Bulgarian: autogara) in Sunny Beach was 6 leva (~3 euros), travel time ~30-40 minutes.

At the Burgas airport itself there is a bus stop number 15, which transports passengers directly to the city of Burgas.

There is also a bus from Sofia to Sunny Beach and Nessebar; you can get there in about 7-8 hours.

In the summer of 2019, on the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria in Sunny Beach, in Sveti Vlas, in Nessebar, in exchange offices when exchanging euros for Bulgarian levs, the rate was set as follows: for 1 euro they gave 1.91 Leva, in banks resort area the rate was a little better: for 1 euro they gave 1,918 Leva. In the city of Burgas itself, the rate in banks is much better - for 1 euro they gave 1.948 - 1.95 Leva (close to the official rate in Bulgaria).

Bus number 8 "Nessebar - Slanchev Bryag - Sveti Vlas - Elenite" runs every 40 minutes in the summer.

Sunny Beach is all about scope and scale, unlike the resorts north of Varna, which are more intimate and cozy. This is a huge number of hotels and restaurants. Moreover, unlike other resorts, the majority of Sunny Beach hotels have recently been renovated and brought into line with international standards.

The history of Sunny Beach began in 1958. Hotels began to be built where previously there were two large wells that supplied water to the city of Nessebar. Sunny Beach is the busiest party scene in terms of nightlife place of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. Most budget European youth go here, and not to Golden Sands. In the summer, the pop festival "Golden Orpheus" takes place here, for serious people - a decade of symphonic music, and for the lazy - fashion shows and beach sports competitions. The centers of nightlife at the resort are the Mania and Iceberg clubs. They are not much different from each other. Entrance costs ~4-5 leva. In "Mania" there is mainly techno and house music, and in "Iceberg" there is a little bit of everything. There is also “Lazur”, it is located almost on the beach, the entrance also costs 4 or 5 levs. There is a wide variety water activities: banana ride - 8 leva, jet ski - 25 leva. There is a parachute ride and all sorts of other things. There is also a water park with a free minibus to the place, entrance is 26 leva per person, in the evening it costs 19 leva.

Sunny Beach is better than Varna or Golden Sands in terms of “night fairies”. It’s not that the price is better, but there are simply more such establishments. Such clubs are called erotic show "Rendezvous", erotic show G o-G o Girls, Vip Girls, etc. Near the beach in the late evening you may be offered to have sex right next to the sea on the sand for 50-70 leva. Whether you need such adventures - decide for yourself.

You can, in principle, go to Sunny Beach with children, there is plenty of entertainment for them here, but you won’t get evening silence. This is a noisy resort, focused on youthful enthusiasm and energy. Henna tattoos are very popular; they last for 2 weeks. Prices for food are standard for Bulgarian resorts, the most expensive lunch and dinner is no more than 30-40 levs. The market is an ordinary flea market, mainly Turkish goods are sold there. Clothes and shoes are cheap but of acceptable quality. I advise you to buy things made in Bulgaria, the quality and price will please you. You can have fun by riding on all sorts of carriages and trains along the shore. There are a lot of lifeguards on the beach; they work on the principle of reinsurance. The entrance to the sea, as elsewhere in Bulgaria, is gentle, the beach is sandy.

One of the most famous hotels in the resort is the high-rise "Kuban" ("Kuban"), built, as the name suggests, during socialism.

It is located almost in the center, and there is a stop nearby for minibuses that go from here to different directions. As a result, the hotel is used as a reference point for meeting with friends for further celebrations together.

Meet Bulgaria.

Along the border, Bulgaria is embraced by such countries and seas as: WITH– Romania, on YU– Greece, on Z– Serbia and Macedonia, on IN– Black Sea, on SE– Türkiye.

Do you know what mountains are in Bulgaria? Raise your hand and come to the board. On YU And S-W– Rila, Pirin and Rhodope mountains (Rilo-Rhodope massif). On SE– spurs of the Strandzha Mountains (Turkish name Istrandzha).

The Balkan Mountains can be called the heart of Bulgaria, because the Balkans, or Stara Planina, cross the whole of Bulgaria in the center with Z(h-1.5-2t. m) per IN(h-600-800m) and divide it into Northern And Southern.

Northern– treeless and plowed Danube Plain. These are Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo, Pleven, Varna, Tolbukhin.

South- mountainous region. These are Plovdiv, Burgas, Sofia.

There are passes through the mountains, through which highways are laid.

Between the mountains there are basins - Karlovskaya, Kazanlakskaya, the climate of which is ideal for growing rose oil crops. The Danube hilly plain and the Upper Thracian lowland are breadbaskets.

Bulgaria owns a “piece” of the Black Sea 378 km away. The Black Sea coast is low, there are many beaches, and sometimes steep shores. Previously, the Black Sea was called Pontic, Cimmerian, Scythian, Blue, Tauride, Ocean, Surozh, Holy.

The main river of the country is the Danube, as well as the rivers Ropotamo, Veleka, Iskar, Kamchia, Struma, Maritsa, etc.

Bulgaria overtakes in number mineral waters majority European countries. Mineral springs there are warm (t-35˚) and hot (t-60˚), mountain and plain, and even radon and radiation. Balneological resorts - Hisarya, Bankya, Velingrad, Kostenets, Moni Prohod, Varshets, Sapareva Banya.

Bulgaria is an exporter of tobacco, lavender and rose oil, which is valued much more than gold. And also Bulgaria is the fruit queen - the largest exporter of apples, plums, peaches, apricots, and grapes. But where are you, on what counters are you lying, Bulgarian pe-e-rsi-i-ki!?

The Bulgarian women's national costume is a dark woolen sundress, a white fluffy embroidered shirt, a colored belt, a bright apron, rawhide shoes with patterned woolen stockings and a silk one-color scarf tied at the crown, and a living flower tucked into the left. And for men - a white or yellow-brown suit, and a flower is slipped under the cap at the temple.

Some Bulgarian cities have been declared museum cities by the state. This is Veliko Tarnovo - former capital medieval Bulgarian kingdom. Koprivshitsa, where every house is a testament to the talent of Bulgarian craftsmen. Melnik is the smallest town in Bulgaria, where all the houses, clinging to the picturesque hills of light yellow sandstones, have signs nailed to them stating that they are of cultural value. And others.

Ancient Bulgaria was inhabited by Thracians (Sofia is the former Thracian city of Serdika), along the Black Sea coast by Greeks (Sozopol is the former Greek colony of Apollonia, Varna - Odessos, Nessebar - Messembria), and Slavs. The history of Bulgaria is characterized by names and words - Khan Krum, Khan Asparukh, Byzantium, Avars, brothers Cyril and Methodius, Prince of Kiev Svyatoslav Igorevich, Tsar Simeon, Ottoman Empire, Russian-Turkish War, Russian Emperor Alexander II, Russian generals Stoletov and Skobelev. The country existed under the yoke of Turkey/Ottoman Empire for 500 years. (For comparison: Rus' was under the Tatar-Mongol yoke for 200 years).

A little about the Sunny Beach resort.

I read a lot of reviews and other information about Bulgaria, but I couldn’t understand what the resort itself is - what is it? - an area with hotels along the sea with the same name as in Turkey, or is it a resort town. What is the infrastructure like? Is it possible to go somewhere in the evening, sit somewhere, buy something?

Now everything is clear.

Sunny Beach is a huge city of hotels, it is considered the largest resort in Bulgaria and is located in the south of the Bulgarian Riviera near Burgas. Sunny Beach itself is quite flat and not a very green place, unlike, for example, Golden Sands and Albena, which are located on a hill and surrounded by forests.

Sea on Sunny Beach it is a bay in the form of a convex semicircle. But - this rather refers to the fairly high mountains on the side of St.

Somewhere in the center of the resort, the main street runs perpendicular to the sea, or it is central alley. The main landmark is the Kuban Hotel - a long gray tower. This alley, bustling with life, divides the resort into two parts. The left one (if you are facing the sea) is older, i.e., built up a long time ago, the right one is newer, i.e., built up not so long ago and continues to be built up. Accordingly, the left half is much more active, noisy, and lively than the right. Let’s even say this: excessively, excessively, overly lively. All this does not mean that the right side is quiet, no, it is just as cheerful, but in moderation! This is an important understanding, because if you are not a fan of loud night fun, and you end up in the loud half, your vacation will be ruined.

Our hotel was (as you understand) on the right, quieter part of the resort. Accordingly, I will describe the sea, the beach, the territory and infrastructure of this part and near our hotel. I am not able to cover the entire 10 km space. But I will say this, one evening we walked very far along the embankment, walked about 3 km at least, and ran shamefully - deafened by the loud music pouring from every cafe, and stunned by the endless line of Bulgarian tents with Turkish junk. At this point, the feeling that we were in Bulgaria disappeared, and a vague thought appeared that we were walking through our clothing market.

A huge number of tourists wander along the embankment, and you won’t be bored, because in addition to restaurant and shopping outlets, savvy Bulgarians will extract money from vacationers in any way possible way- you can look at Jupiter through a telescope, you can buy donuts, you can drink freshly squeezed juice, you can take a photo with a python and a sad alligator with its mouth wrapped in tape, you can feel like Robin Hood by renting a bow and arrow, you can drive a rickshaw, you can drive a typewriter with bicycle pedals, you can use an electric car, a little further they ride on a carriage with horses, children run to the rides, and adults to the creepy (literally) bungee.

At this point, perhaps, I will dwell in more detail. A bungee rope consists of two huge support pillars and two thick springy ropes hanging from them. Those who want to get enough adrenaline are tied with belts like a paratrooper, attached to the ends of ropes and launched upward like a catapult. Unfortunately, ropes prevent you from flying into the Bulgarian night sky.

Even a simple introduction to this attraction in the form of staring with an open mouth makes your hair stand on end with fear. “Sheets” and “fucks” rush either in an increasing direction - if the catapult man flies to the ground, or in a decreasing direction, if he is carried upward. Only the Finns are silent on this attraction, and they are also trying to do a double somersault in the air. We know, we already know these impenetrable northern people, we rode a Finnish tornado in Tampere, where I indescribable horror the voice disappeared, and the hands were rooted to the sticks that had to be held on, and the Finnish children occupied the first, most dangerous trailer, and also performed steps with their hands and feet. Since childhood, they have ridden on such tornadoes, and then the catapult seems like a ride on a train.

I understand that the above may create a negative impression of the resort. But - we were there a couple of times, you need to walk along the embankment to orient yourself in the folds of the terrain and just in order to understand that you don’t need to go here. The best way leaving the embankment means walking along the beach, approaching the night sea, taking off your boots and splashing your feet on the warm sea waves, under the dark Bulgarian sky strewn with stars, walking to your hotel or just taking a walk. And the sensations given by the night spanking seashore artificial ones are completely clogged. Nobody forces you to go to the embankment, right?

I will write about restaurants, shops and souvenirs in the corresponding chapters.

There are no street names in Sunny Beach. There are many streets and alleys, but no names. Therefore, the names of hotels serve as landmarks there, for example, the “Bally” supermarket is located near the “Diamant” hotel. You will definitely need a city map, keep that in mind.

Another interesting point in Bulgarian hotels. There is no Turkish isolation here, just so that “this is your territory, and this is ours”, “here is a bracelet and a pass card for you.” There is no such thing here.

Subtleties of choosing a place to relax.

Test: is Bulgaria suitable for your holiday or not?

I have already covered the topic that the reviews of our compatriots in Bulgaria are 70% negative. – I’ll try to decipher why the image of Bulgaria is like this: dirty Bulgaria, smelly Bulgaria, disgusting Bulgaria, all Bulgarians are goats and idiots. Why does this happen? I think the point is that our people perceive a holiday in Bulgaria as an opportunity to save money wildly.

And this is true, Bulgaria offers very economical prices - for example, the 3* Kotva hotel was offered to us for 400 € for 10 days. But at the same time, when buying such a tour, our people consider it appropriate to harass the maids, demand that towels be changed once a day, be offended by the lack of delicacies for breakfast and dinner, and long way to sea. Such people also easily shift the responsibility from themselves - for choosing a hotel, for choosing a tour operator - to the Bulgarians. We Russians have such a mentality, remember, Chernyshevsky was still rushing around in search of someone “to blame.”

Bulgarians are very friendly, even shy, they treat Russians interestingly - brotherly, as if they were their own, I can’t find any other word. There is no need to draw general conclusions about Bulgarians based on the representatives in the market stalls. This is the same thing if you go to the clothing market in Konkovo, talk to the sellers and on this basis declare what Russian goats. Even in shops and cafes, Bulgarians are intrusive in a Slavic way, that is, in moderation; there is no such stupefying, stupid, aimless barking and sparkling eyes as, for example, in Turkey. We had “misunderstandings” a couple of times, but the friendly attitude for the most part completely covered up this small negative.

Looking ahead, I’ll say right away - Bulgaria is definitely a place where you will return more than once. Only for this you need to meet two conditions: define your goals, i.e. position yourself correctly, and choose your hotel very carefully. The hotel is 90% of your comfortable stay. If you don’t miss, then your holiday in Bulgaria will be called fabulous; if you miss, you will call it disgusting.

What was important and necessary for us on this trip, what we were looking for? The sea is clean and childish. Sand on the beach, not rocks. The weather is not stupefyingly humid heat. Quiet place. Good infrastructure: hotel, food. Children's entertainment. Interesting sights. Shopping.

I will write about everything in detail below. I give everything a 5. Except the weather.

I want to emphasize once again, and I myself am always surprised, how different we all are. Therefore, I cannot and will not advise anything. If possible, of course, it is better not to save. You need to choose the option that suits you yourself. If you, for example, are active people who dance and have fun, then, undoubtedly, fun places await you that are closer to the center.

If, for example, you really want to save money and have a good rest, and are ready to walk to the sea, then hotels await you not on the first line, but much further from the sea, or on the quiet village outskirts - St. Vlas or Ravda. If proximity to the sea is important to you, but saving is no less important, then this option can be achieved through hotel service - it will be lame, as will the quality of breakfast and dinner, but you will admire the sea view from the window. All in your hands.

Sunny Beach is a 10 km long resort! Can you imagine how many large hotels, small hotels and apartments there are? If you make the right choice (and for this you need to work hard), then Bulgaria and the Black Sea will give you a great holiday.

Sunny Beach is ideal for holidays with children (more on this in the “Sea” chapter).

Successful components of your holiday. Our hotel.

One excellent English-language travel search site helped us choose a hotel. They have a hotel rating next to each place you request. And since the users of this site are cunning comrades mainly from the UK, Scotland, Ireland and others who understand European service countries, then the objectivity of assessments helps to make the right choice.

Relying on the opinion of a tour operator is very risky. I realized this when I saw with my own eyes the options offered to us in Moscow - “an excellent, quiet little hotel Kotva” and “the luxurious Victoria Palace hotel, which is considered 4*, but we guarantee you that it is all 5*.”

Then, now, having returned from Sunny Beach, I assessed the location of many hotels with my own eyes, and, in principle, I can now clearly identify some that had previously told me nothing.

Our hotel: Riu Helios 4*.

This is the first line, the beach begins immediately behind the promenade. This hotel deserves all the compliments that the tourists who spent their holidays dedicated to it. But it has its own pros, and quite significant minuses.

We were processed very quickly, our passports were left for the day, they can be picked up from the reception only at 12 o’clock the next day - that’s the order. The room is a huge suite. The child’s bed is separated from the adult’s by a huge closet, creating such a comfortable private space for everyone. The room has a kitchen and stove. Sofa (folding out), armchair, coffee and desk tables, TV and refrigerator in the minibar. Bathroom with shampoos and other cosmetic items and even music. Air conditioner. Huge balcony. The hotel really has an excellent sea view.

Cleaning is perfect. It is customary for them to throw towels on the floor in order to be changed. Why? This is due to savings and environmental protection: the less often you wash, the less different detergents are used, the better for nature. This is the logic. We wanted to support the green movement and rarely throw towels on the floor, but they changed them anyway, without a sign. The Bulgarian maid is very friendly and hardworking. Leva was left as a tip upon departure.

The hotel building itself has a horseshoe shape. Inside there are swimming pools for adults and a small shallow one for children. Sunbeds and towels are free. There is animation and a children's club.

Food in a restaurant is a special matter. For a buffet at the resort - 5 plus. We had breakfast and dinner. To avoid verbosity, I will easily use one big word - delicious. No matter what you try, everything is fine. These are sensations long forgotten and clogged with our terrible products. Of course, it doesn’t happen once in a while. There was a feeling a couple of times that it could have been better, but this is from the series “the best is the enemy of the good.”

Breakfast: there is always a lot of yogurt, including delicious Bulgarian sour milk (more about it below), additives to it - walnuts, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, dried bananas, strawberries, pears, dried apricots and raisins, muesli, cereal . Omelette, delicious cold cuts and ham, cheeses, feta cheese, fried tomatoes, fried ham and sausages, hot beans and corn, hard-boiled eggs. Pancakes with jams and honey. Omelet to order. Table for those who cannot have sugar. Juices. Coffee is brought in thermoses with milk. You brew the tea yourself in a special teapot.

I have some complaints about the breakfast.

Children's claim. There was no porridge. What should I feed my child? This cunning man immediately understood the situation and took strict control over the filling of sweet dried berries: strawberries, raisins and dried apricots into yogurt. It is imperative that there are “aphids knocking/three pieces” of dried apricots and strawberries. Healthy supplements in the form of spitting nuts. Harmful pancakes with sweet jam threshed.

An adult claim. Breakfast didn't change, so it got a little boring. Omelette with toppings to order - it was a show with pouring tomato juice and raki into a frying pan and lighting a huge fire on it. But the omelette itself was simply worthless - burnt and terribly dry.

Dinner is excellent. Juices, water, beer, wine - at your own expense. Several times there was Bulgarian national cuisine. We really enjoyed. A girl in a national embroidered bright costume greeted us at the entrance and offered bread and salt. You break off a piece from a lush loaf, dip it first in salt and herbs, then in honey and wash it all down with a glass of rakia. Very tasty tomatoes, feta cheese, cheeses, Bulgarian basturma-shaped sausages, eggplant caviar. We ordered wine.

There are always several types of meat in the trays - chicken, turkey, rabbit, duck, lamb, pork, veal, beef, to order (separate line) - fried suckling pig with gravy, grilled fish, squid. Just don’t think that all this is given together - I’m just listing the menu for different evenings. There were soups - which is very important for me - I fed them to the child. There was a cheese table - various cheeses, including my favorite brie, with nuts and grapes. Desserts - cakes, pastries, sweet things in bowls. Fruits - all kinds, but not very tasty. The only exceptions are melon, grapes and bananas. Everything is very beautifully served with bright national Bulgarian napkins.

There are many Germans, Swedes, English, Poles, Czechs and Russians in the hotel. It’s interesting that only the Russians are greedy at the buffet - there is as much on the plates as the last time, while the Germans have little. One day we were embarrassed too. Near the dessert table, the chefs placed a huge watermelon with a skillfully carved figure of a lion. “Oh, the Peugeot emblem, look, look,” two highly cultured girls “explained” to the child. Only at the end of the rest it struck - this is a lion not from the emblem of the Peugeot car, but actually from the Bulgarian flag.

At dinner, a separate Kinder table was set, that is, for children. Oddly enough, it contained potato balls deep-fried until brown, similar cheese slices, spaghetti with ketchup and pizza slices. Do they really think that children have such tinned stomachs? In a questionnaire to evaluate the restaurant’s service, which was handed out to us one evening, I wrote that, in general, a children’s table implies the presence of something boiled, boiled and porridge-like, but not sausages and fries. We never took anything here.

The child ate soup, very soft turkey, chicken, rabbit, baked vegetables, potatoes, and tomatoes. And then... desserts. Got it... I couldn't help it but tear it out of my mouth. He threshed like Robin Bobin Barabek, and even pointed with his finger - this one is “tasty”, and this one is “last/middle”. I hunted for a sweet rice dessert for him, but they were only given them a couple of times.

Several times we had problems with seats. Breakfast starts from 7.30-10 and you need to get up early to easily grab a table, otherwise you will have to circle hungry birds around the busy ones. Dinner starts from 18 – 21, and I recommend taking tables in the open space, weather permitting.

We were lucky with the hotel. Excellent infrastructure, all amenities, delicious food - what else does a person need to have a good vacation? All this helped to perceive the situation positively, and if things don’t work out for you with the hotel, you will be annoyed.

However, I still I’ll add a big fly in the ointment to the above-described barrel of honey. This “tar” almost ruined our entire vacation - blaring music from a certain karaoke bar-restaurant nearby. At first we were glad that our huge corner room overlooked a quiet green space. It turned out that we didn’t notice the speakers behind the trees. It was loud horror. All daytime sleep and nighttime sleep were in question. It was impossible to fall asleep under mostly German screams. At night they ended at 11.30, i.e. Moscow time at 00.30, and during the day they could be chaotically activated at any minute.

I especially felt sorry for the child who tossed and turned under his sheet, pulled it over his ears, and could not fall asleep. And it was especially difficult for the first three days, when acclimatization was underway, and we went to bed early, then in the evening we walked until late and came to the room when the pandemonium was already over. We wanted to change the number, but then changed our minds. I really didn’t want to pack up my things and move again, this time, and most importantly - where, because music (if not this, then another) can be heard from everywhere. We were saved by cloudy weather, which cooled the German urge to dance and sing.

A little about other hotels.

Then, walking around the center of Sunny Beach, we realized that our disco under the windows was a kindergarten, compared to what happens in many other hotels. And only after that I understood what the negative feedback was based on. Now, if you end up in a bad hotel, consider your vacation wasted.

An example of such a hotel is Victoria Palace 4*(it was offered to me in several agencies). It looks very modern and beautiful, the first line by the sea, everything is fine, at first glance, if you do not pay attention to the fact that it is located in the very center, even, or rather, the epicenter of noise in the central part of the embankment. This is how he is characterized.

Victoria Palace:

Opinion of tourists: “This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. My partner and I stayed here recently for 2 weeks and regretted it almost immediately. First impressions of the hotel were good, the building itself was quite impressive, but thats where the good points end. Our first week in the hotel was relatively without incident apart from the terrible food. Most nights we avoided the free for all buffet by going to the local restaurants where the food was also somewhat disappointing but better than the slop served in the hotel! MacDonald’s became our staple diet before long as at least you know what you"re getting. If you do go there, don"t be fooled by the impressive photos of the Victoria palace. This hotel claims to be 4/5 star but I"d be hard pushed to give it a 2".

~Translation: “Horror.” Horror. Horror. Food, service, everything. Never set foot here again. This is not 5*, but 2*"

Here is another roughly similar example - a hotel Kotva 3* positioned by our travel agencies as “quiet”. If we got into it with a child, then after arrival I would personally and seriously talk with the manager of the travel agency, which intensively promoted him to us. This hotel is located quite far from the sea, firstly, and also almost on the central highway, that is, if your windows face this side, you will admire the passing stream of cars and buses.

But, for example, in my opinion, good hotels: Neptune Beach4* And Riu Evrika4* (not particularly advertised by our agencies). The first one was located next to our hotel, it is also on the very first line. Their advantages are a gorgeous full view of the sea, a nearby beach and their own sun loungers, and a quiet embankment.

Here are the opinions of English and Swedish comrades about these hotels:

Neptune Beach:

Tourists' opinion: “Neptun Beach hotel was really nice. No complaints at all. Hotel was cleaned all the time and the room we were in was lovely-looked like just done up and had laminate flooring. We only ate breakfast which was basic but did the job. Restaurants were good and the there were plenty of bars. Neptune Beach is in the center of everything. Small path at the back of the hotel then its sandy beach with plenty of sun loungers. Hotel has nice pool area and enough sunbeds. We found Sunny Beach to be nice and very cheap. First time ever we came back with money! If we went again we would definitely go to the same hotel. Spotless.”

~Translation: “Just a great hotel. Excellent room, food, bar, location. Very close to the sea! We recommend it to everyone and will come back!”

Riu Evrika:

Opinion of tourists: “The hotel is made up of several situated blocks around a huge pool and gardens. The hotel is excellent great, very clean and lovely staff, very kind. Right on the beach and the beach is beautiful. We were all inclusive during our stay and found the food to be good. Breakfast was a mixed hot and cold buffet with berry smoothies some mornings that were delicious. The snack bar offering burgers, Pizza, salad, kebabs was fine if you wanted something by the pool. Evening - always a good variety and a special each evening. We planned to eat away from the hotel for a couple of evenings as during 2 weeks the food can get a bit repetative but in the end we didn't bother as we enjoyed the food in the hotel. In addition to the buffet resturant there was “a Bulgarian restaurant that you could book at no extra charge. This served traditional dishes and had a good atmosphere.”

~Translation: “The hotel consists of several buildings, there are large swimming pool and garden. Excellent hotel, very clean, friendly staff. Right on the beach, the beach itself is great. Breakfast includes hot and cold dishes, very tasty. There is a lot of choice for dinner. Everything is very delicious. We dined in restaurants several times for a change, but then we enjoyed going to the hotel restaurant. In addition to the usual, in our hotel we also had Bulgarian cuisine with national cuisine and a great atmosphere.”

I also really (!) liked the location of the two hotels - this Bourgas 3* And Europe 3*. In appearance, these are huge, skinny gray buildings that look like Soviet high-rise buildings, but the location for three-star hotels is chic - almost in the middle of the beach, almost on the sand, a view of the sea, there is nothing loud in the neighborhood, there is a pier nearby.

The promenade ends/ (begins?) at Neptune and Helios, and around Burgas and Europe there is almost silence, the beach and sea on one side, and not far away a busy, cheerful street with cafes, shops and other entertainment on the other. You are guaranteed an excellent sea view, but of course, due to the food and other service – they are very much criticized here. You can probably vary it wisely, for example, take breakfast and eat in restaurants.
