Madeira (12) Tropical Garden Palace Monte. Funchal, Tropical Garden on Mount Monte Tropical Garden Monte

One of the most popular tourist entertainment in Funchala is a trip to Monta Mountain (in general, as it sounds strange, Mountain - Mountain :))
We did not exception, let's go like everything cableway Right from the old town on the shore.
Near bottom Station Pops have a large parking, so there are no problems where to throw the car does not occur.
We did not lose in our choice: the views from the cable car on the city are superior to the city, and the child loves the cable car very much.
If you look close to this photo, then there is almost on the top of the top of the church with two bell tower, this is our goal.

I speak excellent views! It is a pity only glass cabin challenges.
1.

And next to the church there is a thing of one of the strangest entertainment for tourists: skating on sleds from the mountain down.
Let me remind you that there is no snow on Madeira, so they ride on asphalt :)
True asphalt in this place is not worse than ice.
5.

We had a feeling that half of the city earns money to riding tourists on a sleigh :) It costs this pleasure of 35 euros.
By the way, Sanki is brought to the top on a pickup, so that work is very non-sharp.
We did not ride: I did not rise back any desire.
6.

The Church of the Virgin on Mount Monte is known that the last emperor of Austria-Hungary is buried here.
In the church you can climb the roof and enjoy a great view of Funchal.
True, for this it was necessary to come in the evening, and in the morning the sun would shine to your eyes: (
7.

Well, we go to watch a tropical garden.
8.

The garden is located on the terraces of the mountain, so it is very comfortable to look at its top.
9.

In one of the pavilions, an exhibition of African wooden sculptures ... All the same, Africa is quite close.
11.

And the blue tile reminds us that we are still in Portugal
12.

Central Lake Park with Waterfall and Islands.
And in the background, Monte Palace is visible, until 1943 it was one of the most fashionable hotels on the island.
13.

My birth, the park must Joe Berarda Portuguese businessman and a collector born on Madeira.
He bought this territory and founded the garden in 1989
14.

Monte Palace.
17.

I really liked the sculpture of the girl with a jump :)
18.

Below the palace begins the Japanese part of the garden, there are a lot of pagodas and murmur water.
20.

Very beautiful part of the garden.
22.

To the one who gaves what is behind this waterfall will receive 100 tokens from me!
23.

Zhenya What are you doing?
- I'm mane fish.

and after all, I successfully brought a whole cant!
27.

A lot of fish
28.

Well, on this track, the tropical garden ends, and we have a difficult rise back to the cable car station.

Other stories about Madeira.

The Palace and the Tropical Garden of Monte is the rare and worthwhile sight of the landmark on Madeira, which applies not to natural, but to man-made. And it really is: on such beautiful island It's just a pity to spend time on buildings and museums, here you want to get deep into the dizzying mountains, wander along the amazing, cut rugged the edges of the surf, study the ancient relict forests, waiting for what is about to hub on the cave of a prehistoric person. But Monte Palace is an exception.

On the map of the ocean abandoned far, the Ocean of the Palace appeared in the 18th century, when local lands acquired an English consul charles Murray. It was thanks to him that the beautiful estate appeared here, which he called Quinta Du Prazer (Quinta Do Prazer). Already in 1897, Alfred Guilermo Rodrigsh, who significantly rebuilds the estate. Being inspired by German castles from the distant banks of the Rhine, he orders to build a residence palace, later converted to the hotel Monte Palace Hotel. At the beginning of the 19th century it was one of the most fashionable and in the case of secluded places for recreation, many of the great world of this world came here in search of silence and calm.

But in the midst of World War II, in 1943, Senor Rodrigash dies, and his heirs later do not want to continue a profitable hotel case. The hotel is closed, he becomes the property of Caixa Económia Do Funchal. After, in 1987, the entrepreneur Jose Manuel Rodrigash Berardo redeems him, and on the map of the island again appears amazing Monte Palace Tropical Garden - the tropical garden of the Monte Palace.

The palace remained unchanged since the old days of Alfred Guilermo Rodrigsha, but the park straightenfully changed for the better. Here were amazing and rare for this strip of plants from different countries of the world, for example, heather from Scotland, Azalya from Belgium, Lavra with Canary Islands. Cedar, laurels and ferns are growing in abundance.

In the tropical garden, the Monte was planted amazing and rare plants for this strip from different countries of the world, for example, heather from Scotland, Azalia from Belgium, Lavra from the Canary Islands.

In addition, in the Monte Garden, two very beautiful fish were created and populated artificial lakes. On it allegorically float black and white swans. The first personifies Australia and New ZealandTheir bright gather - Iceland and Scandinavia. But a special piquancy park, according to which, by the way, walking peacocks and military roosters from Indonesia, give all sorts of stones, marble dragons figures, vintage emblems, intricate niches and pagodas, sculptures and buddha figures, lights from different parts of the world. Moreover, it is not just a boulder or tasteless gazebo-Novodel. Here you can see the collection ceramic tile 15-20 centuries, as well as a bizarre panel of 166 terracotta tiles called "Adventures of Portuguese in Japan."

The Three-storey Palace Monte deserves a separate mention. Today, there is a museum in his walls, on two floors of which sculptures are exhibited, and on the third - a collection of minerals from different parts of light. For example, the exposition "African passions" is famous for modern Zimbabwe sculpture (1966-1969). The exhibition "Secrets of Mother Nature" demonstrates one of the best collections of minerals from Brazil, Portugal, South Africa, Zambia, Peru, Argentina.

Another attraction of Monte Palace - Natural viewpoint At an altitude of 600 m, from where the magnificent view of the fun and lead-azure Atlantic Ocean.

According to powerful paths, the park you can ride on a small trailer, which will cost another 4 EUR. You can go to the palace-museum for free (but it is impossible to get into them by passing the garden and 12.50 EUR). Another local fun is a descent from the park down on wicker sleighs, which push two dozen peasants to serpentine. Safe, but the increase in blood adrenaline is provided, the cost of 25 EUR.

Tropical garden, located on Mount Monte in Funchal - Perhaps one of the most famous tourist places on the
island. In general, Madeira is extremely rich in his parks and gardens, but at least even some of them do not
it seemed possible - Jardim Tropical Monte Palace chose a tyk method and never regretted it.

The garden is located on the top of Mount Monte, the slopes of which are tightly built up by the city houses of Funchal. Simplest
the way to get there is to use the funicular, the station of which is located on the embankment, not far from the center.
Loading line a little more than 3,700 meters passes over the whole city and itself is very thorough
fifteen-minute attraction. Actually, I was so carried away by the shooting of the city from the height of a bird's-eye
i planted batteries even before we got to the place. In general, during the walk in the garden, periodically
removing the battery and making different shaman acts with them, managed to make a couple of dozen personnel.

In general, by chance, looking at the return home) in the booklet that we were given together with tickets, we
surprise found that there not only was a wonderful map of the territory, but also various routes were brought -
compiled by interests. For example, a route for interest in Flora and fauna. Or route for notes
history and art. Or combined - including the first and second. By itself, all varying degrees
saturation and with different times of passage. We were completely impossible in a couple of hours, by chance
choosing turns, and it seems to be most part possible. Although, judging by the same map, something after all
missed.

2.

Personally, I was generally very pleased with the eclecticity of the cultural part of the route. In addition to traditional Portuguese
ceramics in the tropical garden showed a very thorny collection of African sculptures - partially along the tracks and
in the form of a fairly impressive exposure in the museum building. The museum itself, however, did not have enough battery.

3.

From the entrance to the garden to the central pond leads such a walkway, with ceramic panels, in pictures narrow
heroic Portuguese history. We, however, immediately turned into thickets - it was more interesting to wander on more lively
parts of the garden, and here, as we noticed, mostly sharing pensioners.

4.

The history of Portugal on the ceramic panels will curse as a colorful comic - not even owning the language and it becomes
it is clear - who spawned someone who poisoned who poisoned, either, who won whom who won whom, and who went around.

5.

In addition to African motives and historical comics, some tracks are decorated with work performed in
traditional Portuguese painting technology on ceramics - Azulju.

6.

Here is one of them - close-up.

7.

Another corner is not far from the museum. Abstractionism is adjacent to antiquity.

8.

As for the flora, Mart, apparently, not the most successful month for visits - although Madeira is rightfully
called floral island, early spring blooming plants units. But something we still saw.

9.

The park also includes small pools with water plants.

10.

Or thick bamboo thickets - mainly in the Japanese part of the garden.

11,

Painted peacocks, who are completely calmly walking next to the pavilion of the four elements. There
you can admire other birds, but the rest are not so free - together sit in a large cage.

12.

One of the fountains in the garden. Personally watch fish (or on whom there are babies?).

13.

Actually, the Palace of Monte - for the history of its existence, the building managed to change many owners, in this
the moment here is the Berardo Foundation - an organization that is engaged in the preservation and development of the garden.

14.

View of the palace from the observation deck.

15.

View of the city with the same observation deck in front of the palace. Far at the bottom you can see the port and the central part
Funchal, and a wonderful pagoda in the frame is part of the southern Japanese garden.

16.

Wall in the territory of the Northern Japanese Garden. The history of the Japanese Portuguese relations is painted.

17.

Another fragment of Japan is the statues of samurai. In general, the abundance of Japanese elements in the design is due
personal Founders Father-founder - Joe Bernard. He was so fascinated by the Eastern culture that he tried
recall the appropriate atmosphere when creating this garden.

18.

One of the most concentrated images of Madeira - photographs of the central lake. It is surrounded from all sides
walking tracks and viewed almost from anywhere in the garden. Generally, here we had an extra reason
to glad that we arrived at no season - for visitors could be counted on the fingers and no one interfered
take pictures. I suspect that in the midst of the summer next to the lake is not pouring into.

Monte Palace is an incredibly beautiful manual attraction of Portugal. This beauty is located on Madeira Island. Already the island itself is a magnificent landmark of the country, and the palace, built here, perfectly complements amazing Island. The palace appeared relatively recently, compared to other Palaces of Portugal. In the 18th century, the local land bought an English consul and built a manor to himself. And at the end of the 18th century, this estate bought a rich man who decided to rebuild the building and build a residence palace, which was later converted to the Monte Palace Hotel. In the early 19th century, the palace became a very popular place to relax. Many high-ranking people came here. After all, this place is incredibly beautiful, with a magnificent tropical garden, ocean view and complete silence and calm. To date, the palace has retained its primary appearance. A museum is now located in the walls of the three-story building. Two floors demonstrate sculptures, and the third floor is a collection of minerals from different parts of the world. The palace has an incredibly beautiful natural observation deck, which offers an excellent view of the fun and the powerful Atlantic Ocean. Special attention requires a tropical garden belonging to the palace. There are amazing and rare plants for this strip, which were brought from different countries. Even in the Monte Garden, 2 lakes were created, where beautiful and unusual fish live. Also, Pavlins stroll in the park. There are various sculptures around the park, such as dragons figures. Madeira Island necessarily worth a visit to see this incredibly beautiful palace and his exotic park.

This article was conceived by me as beautiful,))) And I specifically tried to coach it to our female holiday.
But she is still about Madeira).

Today I invite you to visit the tropical park.
In addition to general words that in the park is very beautiful, I was advised to come there from the morning and spend there day. Because "time flies imperceptibly." This is true.

The tropical park is on the mountain, right above Funchal in the village of Monte. Actually, if you are accurate, the park is called: "Tropical Garden Palace Monte".
The story of this wonderful place:

In the distant 18th century, I liked the English Consul Charles Murray plot of the Earth of the South Church in this village. Good to be a rich consul. He bought this plot and turned it into a wonderful corner, which called the "earth of joy." (My translation is approximate, but the essence is as follows).

In the 19th century (1897), this land goes to hold Alfredo Guiherme Rodrigues and the new owner builds a hotel here. The hotel's building was more like a palace. He was called Monte Palace Hotel. The hotel enjoyed success. Guests from Portugal and abroad stayed in it. What is just one view from the mountain on the bay of the capital. Everything was great, but after the death of the owner in 1943, his family refused to engage in the hotel business and the hotel fell into a decline, and then completely closed.

For a while, the land and buildings owned a credit institute.
And since 1987 there is a new owner. Entrepreneur with a very difficult name for me.
Tropical park Currently, it is also museums, exhibitions, cafes and many, many wonderful exotic plants.

You can get to the park in the cabin cabinet. About twenty minutes and you are already at the entrance. Pleasure is ten euros. True, if you take a ticket there and back, then pay fifteen. I do not know why, but the rise did not make a special impression on me. Approximately the same species I admired from the window of the bus every time he drove out of the hotel in Funchal, or returned back.

The photo is made from the bus window. In the cabin cabin glass was dirty and did not want to photograph.

In addition to the cable car there is an opportunity to get to Monte on an ordinary by flight bus. The ticket costs about 2 euros, and impressions, believe me, no less. Roads are narrow, driving drivers. Bus lines 20, 21, 22 and 48.
There is also a taxi. But "Our people do not go to the bun for a taxi." Therefore, I do not say anything about the price.

You can go to the park not only from the cable car. There are two more inputs if you came here by bus. Babosas input just north of the main entrance and one more - Monte from the west side.

To determine and at least rudely attach financial expenses. Calculate. The entrance to the garden is also 10 euros. Children under 15 years old accompanied by adults for free. The ticket price includes wine tasting on the terrace.

Some powerful paths in the garden are wet and pretty slippery. In addition to comfortable shoes (I always advise it) there is another option not to slip. Drive in the garden in a small trailer. This pleasure costs 4 euros.
Visit of museums is free. Free you offer and taste the wines on the terrace.

If you want, you can go down on wicker sleigh after inspection of the park. There is such a local fun. Two peasants accelerate the sleigh right on the road, and you are sitting in them and appear, because the road is serpentine. So, here you will have to post twenty-five euros.

More information. The tropical garden is open daily from 9:30 to 18 hours. Come on December 25th.
In museums you can get from 10 to 16:30
Museums are impossible to visit separately from the garden, you want to the museum - buy a ticket to the garden.

In general, runs away. But if you think, they are offered for this price, too, a lot.

All with dry information is completed.

Imagine, we enter the park. Inhale. Feel? What air?

What? Cool in the morning? January, winter. And you again in a light blouse? So do I.
Do you know, go first in the museum?

What? There are several of them here. Let's start with the hotel?
The hotel itself looks not very presentable. But this has its own charm. See the old palace, as in a fairy tale. Not a very big palace.

Sculptures meet us already in the Alley leading to it.

Some I really liked.

The girl jumping on the horse just fascinated with its ease and badger.

Inside on the first floor, the collection of minerals and precious stones. On the second - the collection of sculptures from Zimbabwe.
Beautiful, interesting, entertaining.

Not tired of admiring sculptures?
Go to the African Pavilion. He is in a separate building. Here you can take pictures. Figures are pretty same, I'm not an expert, but funny.

Especially when you find out the character. Well, for example, monkeys who do not see do not hear and say nothing.

Pavilion "Mystery of Nature" struck me. I usually use any opportunity to look at the minerals, I saw quite a lot. But the samples collected in this pavilion are great.

About the semisot of pieces and everything as one, fascinate beauty and surprise the value. From Brazil, Portugal, South Africa, Peru, Argentina and North America.
Especially good amethyst grottoes.

Such a bright, saturated color, divide is given. But this mineral loses the intensity of color, being in a lit room. Not immediately, with time. Surprisingly, they do not even take pictures there. I went around the entire pavilion twice. So I liked it.

In Street, warmly, you can get out of the room.

The tropical garden travel guide indicates four routes. Flora and Fauna route for 2 hours 30 minutes. The route art is an hour and a half, mixed (apparently gallop) for one hour and on the train everything can be driven in just twenty minutes.
I decided to see everything and spent in the garden all day.

Right at the entrance met an ancient olives.

The tropical garden covers an area of \u200b\u200b70,000 square meters. I will not be able to describe in detail all that I saw there. I was very struck by fern trees.

They seemed to come from the tutorial pages ancient Mira. I probably would not be surprised if a couple of dinosaurs came out of the pillars of Palm Forest.
Palms in the tropical garden are a lot and different.

Trees are all wonderful and many are familiar only by pictures or are not familiar at all.

Well, the more interesting is to watch, but I didn't even try to memorize the names, too much, not remember.
In the end, it is not so important. Today is a festive attitude.

Plants in the garden are collected from all over the world. Basically, of course, tropical corners. Silver trees, hydrangea, clivia from South Africa, Azalea from Belgium, Himalayan orchids, giant sequoia from America, acacia from Australia.
By the way, Azalea. Here, I have not seen any such huge anywhere.

But the tropical garden is not only plants. Wonderful combination of flora and sculptural elements. Here are the Portuguese coat of arms of different times and just sculptures.

Wonderful clivia

And orchids.

Angelic Trompets and Giant Fuchsia.

And other unfamiliar flowers.

Actually, the garden is divided into areas on topics. East End The park is called Laurisilva and is represented by the rainforest. It stretches from the museum pavilions in the north to the terrace in the south. The middle part of the garden occupies the palace and the lake.

South Palace - Orchids and a peculiar corner of Japan.

I liked this place most.

Elements of Japanese park architecture, small reservoirs with huge fish. By the way, the fish is almost all - gold.

To the west of the Palace Palm Farm.

Under the palm trees, here in the photo shooting.

What are there only no palm trees.

And west west again with a reservoir and fish again.

After catching the Avenues of the Park, we again rising in the mountain of the Western side. We admire the paintings on the tile. I read that these are copies of paintings.

Originals are B. national Museum in Lisbon. These paintings depict the entire main history of Portugal, starting with 15 and ending with the 20th centuries. A person who does not know this story and does not own the Portuguese language remains only to pass and admire the appreciation all this magnificence "Yes, beautifully."
We go around the palace and the lake from the north and get a Chinese park.

Well, it seems we have already walked around. Did you decide how to return to the fun?
If on the cable car, then we go out where you came. If you go to the northern gate, turn to the right, you will go to bus 22. If left, then you will be offered to descend on wicker sleigh. Like that.

In the same time, the emotion and emission of adrenaline in the blood is provided to you. Local drivers guys risky.

P.S. I was pleased to tell you about the park today. Show photos.
Let there be many colors in your life, let her please you and surprises daily.
