What is the best island for a vacation in Thailand? The best islands of Thailand - a complete overview of unique places.

Surprisingly, but the question "which islands in Thailand to choose for a vacation?" is still relevant, despite the fact that it would seem that a clear answer has long been given to it on the network:

  • for the civilian beach holiday- Phuket
  • best island - Koh Samui
  • for lovers of beautiful and untouched nature - the "island" of Krabi

But is it really so? We will try to answer this question based on our personal impressions received from each of the places described below.

It is likely that in many ways it is, but we take the liberty of disagreeing with that. We agree with the first point, but only partially. Phuket is civilized - that's for sure, let's even say that it is too civilized and this is one of its disadvantages. There are not many tourists here, but a lot, with all the ensuing consequences - high prices, bustle, noise, the local population is not too happy for you, etc. We don't know about you, but personally to us, to fly across half the world to plunge from one city bustle into another is somehow not very good.

Well, and calling the beaches of the island the best in Thailand can only be a stretch, there can be no question of exotic beauty. One of the most civilized and "touristy" - yes. Nature here does not shine with originality and exotic beauty, and even mass tourism has done its dirty deed, practically burying it under its own service.

What else did mass tourism bring here - the notorious "Western values" and culture. The result of this was that the local population, for the most part, puts money at the forefront, in any case, does everything to "squeeze the money" to the maximum. Yes, a tourist in Phuket is a money bag that does not deserve any respect. And we ourselves are to blame for this.

Forgive me, but such everyday rudeness, snobbery and lack of culture on the part of vacationers can hardly be found anywhere else in this country, except that Pattaya will not yield. But Phuket itself and its beaches are not so bad, however, everything about the island is in this section.

Popular hotels in Phuket

Koh Samui

Samui is many times better than the previous place. Sorting through the islands of Thailand, deciding where it is better to go, it should be preferred over many others. It can be called a universal island, here everyone can find a vacation to their liking - civilized and almost wild beaches, parties and deserted silence, urban civilization and rural wilderness, it all gets along here.

As for nature, it is simply gorgeous. Of course, not a bounty, but tropical exoticism is present here. Again, purity and transparency sea water not comparable to Phuket. You can snorkel tolerably and see some underwater beauty. However, you shouldn't expect something supernatural from snorkeling on Koh Samui. More about beaches.

The prices on the island are not the cheapest. it is quite large, and the tourist business has densely "occupied" only the north-eastern and eastern coasts, in other areas they are more humane. There are many shops, including several supermarkets. In the latter, besides the fact that you can buy everything you need, you can also eat tasty and inexpensive food. "Island" Krabi

No matter how sad and surprising it may sound to some, we will have to disappoint - Krabi is not an island, but one of the provinces of Thailand and it is located on the mainland. There are also problems with untouched and exotic nature, to put it mildly, and the beaches are not very suitable for swimming - shallow, the water is unclear. It is likely that when they talk about the luxurious nature of Krabi, they mean the numerous islands located nearby and belonging to the same province.

They are the main objects of numerous one-day sightseeing tours and more often than not, their photographs are cited as proof of the beauty of Krabi. Almost all the islets are small and uninhabited, only a few have hotels, but not everyone can afford the prices of living in them. In general, everything here would not be too much fun for independent budget travelers if it were not for Ko Lanta.

Best hotels in Krabi

Koh Lanta Island

Strictly speaking, this is not one, but two islands - Ko Lanta Noi and Ko Lanta Yai. The first is inhabited exclusively by Thais and has absolutely no tourist infrastructure. The second one is almost ideal for tourists seeking quiet rest, clean sea, beautiful beaches and nature. But let's immediately notice, for those who are interested in sightseeing vacation and all sorts of sights, you should not go here, this is not here.

Well, fans of a beach holiday in all its variants will like Lanta. It seems to us that the island is somewhat similar to Koh Samui, but at the same time much calmer, provincial cute and very cozy. Briefly familiarize yourself with it the best beaches.

Prices are not the lowest, but definitely lower than in neighboring Phuket and in Krabi. There are no supermarkets, but there are many small shops and several large markets. With food, as in any part of Thailand, there are no problems.

A small number of private housing rented for long-term residence can be attributed to some minus. But there are plenty of hotels - from bamboo bungalows to multi-star ones. The sea is clean, the water is clear, but you don't have to take a mask with fins here, there is no snorkeling, however, as in all of Krabi.

Who cares about our budget for a month's vacation in Phuket and Koh Lanta this year, you can. All information about Lanta - in.

Top Koh Lanta Hotels

Phi Phi Island

Phi Phi, thanks to active advertising from travel agencies, is almost associated with the Maldives for many. What can I say, the island is really beautiful and interesting, but it is clearly overpopulated and overcrowded with tourists, including package tourists. Personally, we liked it, but we would hardly have stayed on it for more than 5-7 days, it is too crowded.

By the way, there is an opinion that the island is very expensive to live in, both in terms of housing itself and in terms of food. We do not know, it seemed to us that there are different price categories. Of course, more expensive than in neighboring Ko Lanta, but not more expensive than in Phuket in Karon and definitely cheaper than in Lipa.

Koh Lipe Island

Ko Lipe is one of the smallest tourist islands in Thailand, but at the same time one of the best, in any case it was not so long ago, it is gaining popularity very quickly. It is located within the boundaries of the sea natural park Tarutao, which already says a lot.

The size of Ko Lipe is not at all large, no larger than any of the Gili islands in Indonesia (by the way, we highly recommend visiting them) and one hour will be enough to get around it around the perimeter. But this does not mean at all that there is nothing to do there, lovers of beach holidays and nature have something to please themselves with.

There are enough hotels here. the island is small, then from any of them, there are literally a few steps to the sea. But, if you are thinking of this piece of paradise, book your accommodation in advance via the Internet.

The sand on the beaches of Lipa (there are 4 of them) is coral and snow-white, which means that the water is very transparent, with beautiful turquoise and emerald hues, which is the best way to spend the whole day on them, from dawn to dusk.

Well, snorkeling lovers will definitely not be bored here, you must take a mask and fins. Read more about Ko Lipe and how to get there in this section.

Once, making a kayak trip on the uninhabited islands of the reserve, among other pleasures, we got an unforgettably vivid impression of snorkeling in these waters. In our opinion, the underwater world here is one of the most beautiful in Tae.

As for nature - deserted beaches with white coral sand, crystal clear warm waters, coconut trees and Robinson's life in a tent, on uninhabited islands, and even with Friday. What else do you need for a heavenly holiday?

Best hotels in Koh Lipe

Koh Phangan Island

For our taste, Koh Phangan is one of the best islands in Thailand. Not to say that large, but perhaps one of the most versatile, if I may say so. There is everything here - beaches (many and very different, choose according to your preferences), elephant safaris, fishing on mountain rivers, temples, yoga centers and much more.

And, of course, the famous FuLL Moon Party - an ode to the grandest beach parties in Asia, held every month on a full moon night. However, fans of such events will not get bored on other days of the month. A little more about Koh Phangan and its beaches can be

If looking for you nice beaches, clean sea and bounty landscapes, some dashing wind brought to Pattaya and you are full of despair, looking at the surrounding reality, do not despair, rest can still be saved - go to the Koh Kood island, located nearby.

Of course, if you came by buying a tour, then everything is more complicated, because the money for the hotel has already been paid, but in this case you can please yourself, at least a little - you can buy at least a two-day excursion, in Pattaya they are offered everywhere. Koh Kood is a tiny, quietest island with wonderful beaches and tropical nature... The tourist business is gradually "taking control of it" and the island is not changing for the better, but we found it still like this.

Of course, these are not all of Thailand's islands, but only the most popular ones. In addition to them, there are many others, no less interesting, beautiful and noteworthy. For example, we really want to visit Ko Tau, we hope this little dream of ours will come true someday.

Koh Kood Island Hotels

And finally - the calendar of cheap flights to Thailand, perhaps the best of the tools for finding tickets known to us.

While some are attracted by a peaceful, relaxing holiday in a secluded place, others prefer noisy parties or love adventures. The islands of Thailand are ready to satisfy all the needs of even the most discerning holidaymakers.

Thailand on the map

Long gone are the days when 230 islands of the country, located in Gulf of Thailand e and Andaman Sea, were distant and exotic resorts for our country. Today they have firmly established a reputation as a paradise on earth, where every tourist will make their dreams of a resort come true.

Where is it located and how to get there?

(formerly called Siam) is located in South-East Asia, on the peninsula Indochina, in the neighborhood of Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia and Myanmar. The area of its territory is comparable to that of France. The country consists of 4 regions. Not all of them are equally visited by tourists. Thus, the northeastern part of Thailand, the Korat Peninsula, belongs to poor territories that are not popular among vacationers.

The central part of the country is rich in fertile plains, where rice is the main crop. The southern region stretches for hundreds of kilometers and is famous for its beaches and exciting resort life.

From Moscow to Thailand there is direct flights from Vnukovo and Sheremetyevo airports to Bangkok and Phuket. The flight takes approximately 9 hours. If you want to save money, you can choose flights with connections to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong or Tashkent.

A quick search form will help you buy a plane ticket. It is enough to enter departure cities and arrival, date, number of passengers.

It is theoretically possible to travel by train. It can be done if you travel through Kazakhstan and China, however, this method of travel is too long and irrational.

Climatic conditions

Thailand is located in the tropical zone. average temperature air in summer days exceeds 30 C, water - 28 C. In winter, it is only a few degrees cooler here. Best period for recreation - from December to April, when there is no rainy season and high waves. Tropical rains dominate the country from April to November.

High season in the country - the period from November to March, when the weather is stable and sunny and there is no sweltering heat.

The period from May to October is not the best time for rest in Thailand. The weather at this time is too changeable and unpredictable: on a good sunny day, a tropical rainstorm can suddenly break out. However, there are also advantages. There are much fewer tourists, housing prices are falling at times, and there is no stuffiness and smog in the cities.

Visa

If the planned period of stay in the country does not exceed 30 days, no visa needed... When entering Thailand, Russian tourists simply receive a stamp in their passport to enter the country. After the expiration of the period, the tourist is obliged to leave the country.

A few years ago there was an opportunity to receive the so-called "Visa Run". To do this, it was necessary to cross the border and return to the country again. But since 2014, after tightening the rules for entry, such a visa has become irrelevant.

If you plan to stay for a longer time, you can get a tourist visa before traveling to the country. Already in Thailand, it can be extended for another 30 days by paying 1900 baht. Thus, Russian tourist can stay in Thailand for 90 days without leaving the country.
