Limassol is the largest economic, cultural and tourist centre In Cyprus. This popular place for the relaxation of many tourists. The city does not have its own air hub, but the main one is located 70 km from Limassol Harbour Air islands – Larnaca airport. From here you can get to the resort as follows: public transport, and by taxi. Let's take a closer look at how to get from Larnaca to Limassol.

Fast passage:

Bus

Special bus shuttles – Limassol Airport Express – run directly from the airport building to Limassol around the clock. To board the bus, after going through customs control at the airport and receiving your luggage, you need to leave the arrivals hall and turn left, where you will see the counter selling tickets for the shuttle. For an adult the fare is 9€, for a child under 12 years old the price is 4€.

Immediately next to the ticket counter there is an exit door from the terminal; behind it, just a few meters away, there is a shuttle stop. The traffic interval is 1-1.5 hours, however, the bus will not move until the cabin is filled with passengers, sometimes such a wait can be 40 minutes. You will have to spend a little less than an hour on the way, the final stop of transport in Limassol is Agios Georgios Havouzas Church. This is a small city bus station, which is located next to the Church of St. George.

Another option is regular regular bus Larnaca-Limassol. It will cost you a little less. A transport ticket costs 7€ and is purchased from the driver. The bus stop is located immediately near the exit from the terminal, or rather to the left of it. Transport starts from 5 am until almost 1 am, the interval between flights is 1-2 hours. The journey takes about an hour with this option.

Most a budget option– trip to intercity bus Intercity Buses, but in this case you will have to make one transfer. So, first you need to get from the airport to the center of Larnaca. To do this, go up to the second floor of the terminal building and, going out onto the street, turn left. A few meters from the exit there is a stop from where blue buses depart to Larnaca; there is also a transport schedule here. There are quite a lot of flights during the day, buses run until 23:00.

The fare is only 1.5 €, tickets are sold by drivers. The trip will take no more than 15 minutes; you need to get off at the Finikoudes Promenade (“Date Alley”) stop. city embankment. There is no need to go anywhere, this is where the green Intercity buses with the word “Limassol” on the windshield depart from. Tickets are sold by the driver and cost 4-5€. The road to Limassol will take 1.5-2 hours, the final destination is New port. In addition, the bus makes three more stops in the city.

Taxi Larnaca – Limassol

You can get to your destination more comfortably by ordering a taxi. You can order a car in advance online or by phone, although you won’t have any problems with transport on site. The parking lot is located opposite the exit from the airport terminal building; official taxi cars are black or white, and a corresponding beacon is installed on the roof.

There are no “bombs” in Cyprus. A Larnaca-Limassol taxi will cost 55€ in the daytime, and at night the price is slightly higher - about 60€, the journey in this case will take 40-50 minutes.

Transfer from Larnaca to Limassol

And, of course, the most reliable and comfortable option is to order a transfer, both group (for example from Travel Express) and personal (if you are traveling in a small group). A group transfer is a kind of minibus that takes all passengers to a specific hotel.

The cost of such a trip is slightly more expensive than on public transport and will be 13 € per person. The service should be booked in advance (one day in advance) by filling out on the company website special form, no prepayment required. The blue minibus will arrive exactly on time, and the driver will help you load your luggage. Transport will take you to Limassol, depending on the characteristics of the route, in 1-1.5 hours.

The Cyprus transport system is limited only to buses and their schedules. Some resorts can be reached by shuttles that leave throughout the day from the airport, but some places on the island can only be reached by public transport with a transfer in the city center.

Therefore, many tourists from Russia and other countries prefer not to deal with public transport in hot weather, but order a taxi from Larnaca airport to the hotel in advance. Nowadays it is inexpensive, especially if you are traveling with your family or company. In this case, you will be met in the arrivals area, escorted to the car and taken to the hotel door without any unnecessary incidents with your suitcases in the heat.

  • Travel time is approximately one hour (70 km).
  • The cost of the trip is $9.

In addition to the Limassol Airport Express, there are other buses that will cost you less - these are Inter City buses ($4). But you will cover the same distance in two hours. These minibuses are available daily on weekdays from 6 am to 20:00 pm. On weekends, Inter City runs from 8:30 to 19:00.

You can also get to Limassol with transfers in intermediate cities. Detailed schedules of such routes are available.

The British also had a police station here. IN given time The castle houses a museum of the Middle Ages.

At the intersection of Genetliu Mitella, Jami and Zig Zag streets, the Jami Kebir - “Great Mosque” is located. This is the most important religious monument of Limassol during Ottoman rule. Yes, you can get from Limassol to some excursion places in Cyprus for exactly that amount. For example, to the castle of Kolossi or Kourion. Intrigued? The answer is simple - you can get to them by a regular city bus!

Let's start from afar. Just a few years ago, transport in Cyprus, except for taxis, was not at all developed. There were nominally some bus routes, but only a few actually worked. Now the situation has changed for the better - there are more routes, and these buses really exist. At hotels you can pick up free brochures with their itineraries. You really need to have very good eyesight to read that microscopic font. But it's much better than nothing!

Limassol. Bus number 30

In the story about Limassol, we said that the main bus route is “thirty”. This particular bus runs along the entire Limassol coast. It can be reached from the eastern part of Limassol from the most remote tourist hotels, starting from Le Meridien Hotel, to the large shopping complex My Mall, located on the western outskirts of the city. A one-way bus ride in the daytime (until 21:00) costs 1.5 €, in the evening - 2.5 €. Travel time from one ring to another is about 50 minutes. You can find the schedule for bus number 30. Let's look at the route of the "thirty" on the map, with stops marked (not all of them!).

Bus number 30A

In 2018, a variation of this route appeared under the number 30A. Basically, the route coincides with the already familiar “thirty”, only in front of the Municipal Park it turns right from the sea, makes a small detour and returns to the “seaside” route in the area of the middle of Molos Park. Let's look at this route on the map.

In Cyprus for five euros

So why did we name the price of excursions at 5 euros? Let's explain now. For five euros you can buy a ticket for the whole day (daily ticket), which allows you to at least travel on any routes around the city during this day (until 21:00). But the most important thing... - not only in the city, but also in the nearest “suburbs”, which include such sights of Cyprus as Kolossi, Kourion and even Troodos. Let's take a closer look at this.

Where are we coming from?

We are going “from the stove”. In this case from bus station, which was hiding in a not entirely visible place - behind the main police station near the old hospital. Let's show you on a map how to get there.

Well, now let's tell you a little. We find the nearest bus stop number 30 on the side of the street closest to the sea. We take the bus and ask for a daily ticket for 5 euros. It's a different color than regular ticket, and today's date is stamped on it. You need to get off at the stop in front of the Old Port. Usually a lot of people get out there, so it's hard to pass by. Next you need to walk to the Medieval castle. There is a street in front of it, along which you need to walk for about a kilometer. She will take you to the bus station. We took the same route on a sightseeing walk around Limassol. Only now we are going in the other direction in relation to what is described there. When the street leads us to the water tower, there is no need to turn towards it, but simply cross the road and walk another hundred meters to the station, which will be on the right.

Kourion

With the complete "collected works" bus routes You can get acquainted with Limassol and its surroundings on the website of the carrier - EMEL company.

Troodos

We wrote a separate story about our trip to Troodos.

Other bus routes

From Limassol you can take a bus to reach more remote places, but, unfortunately, not for 5 euros. Now let's see how you can use it to get to other cities of Cyprus - Paphos, Larnaca and Nicosia.

Limassol-Larnaca

Distinctive green buses run between cities. In Larnaca, they stand waiting for departure at the very beginning of the promenade, not far from the marina. Then the bus drives to a stop nearby to pick up passengers.

Buses run according to a schedule, which can be found on the carrier’s official website. Travel time is approximately 90 minutes. The fare is 4 euros one way (Single) and 7 euros round trip (One Day). In Limassol, the bus runs along the coastal street, almost along the route of bus number 30. The end point is the New Port, where thirty passes. If you are going to Larnaca, you do not have to go to the port. The bus will be able to pick you up at some city bus stops, but not all! Check the landing locations on the carrier’s website, the link to which we provided just above. Just don't mix up the side of the road. We need to stand on the side farthest from the sea.

Limassol-Paphos

The starting point of the route to Paphos is in the New Port, which you need to get to by bus 30. You can also take it at the Old Port - the bus stops there in the area of the round Independence Square, which has a large ficus tree in the middle. The final point of the route in Paphos is the bus station Karavella, which is located in upper Paphos.

Travel time is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. The fare is 4 euros one way (Single) and 7 euros round trip (One Day). Bus schedule Limassol-Paphos
