Indonesia or Thailand. Questions on the topic: What is better Bali or Thailand

To calculate how long it takes to fly from Bali to Thailand, we need information about the distance between the points of the flight: international Airport"Ngurah Rai (Denpasar)" - Bali ("Ngurah Rai (Denpasar)" International airport - Bali) and Suvarnabhumi International Airport - Bangkok ("Suvarnabhumi" International airport - Bangkok) - the capital of Thailand (the unofficial name of Thailand).

The calculation takes into account that it takes about 30 minutes to take off and land, and the passenger flies without a transfer (direct flight).

Departure information from Bali (airport Ngurah Rai (Denpasar))

The nearest air hub to the city, from where most tourists depart, is the Ngurah Rai (Denpasar) International Airport - Bali International Airport. Local time in summer: +8.0 GMT (5 hours ahead of Moscow). Information about the airport, tips for passengers and the FAQ section are on this page.

The capital of Indonesia is the city of Jakarta, its closest Soekarno-hatta International Airport.

Information about airports in other cities in Indonesia: none.

Arrival information in Thailand

The place of arrival in Thailand will be considered the capital's international airport "Suvarnabhumi" - Bangkok ("Suvarnabhumi" International airport - Bangkok). Local time in summer: +7.0 GMT (4 hours ahead of Moscow). In the city of arrival - Bangkok - the time is 1 hour behind than in the city of departure - Bali. Air hub information, FAQ for arriving passengers and terminal maps.

Additional air hubs for arrival in Thailand: Pattaya, Phuket, Koh Samui.

Airport in Bali

Located 13 km from Denpasar (in the south), the only international airport in Bali annually serves about 9 million passengers. The only terminal is equipped with telescopic ladders, there is a VIP area, duty free and other shops.

If you have not left yet))), then I will share my thoughts on your dilemma ...
Recently returned from Bali Nusa Dua), and 2 years ago I was in Pattaya. Remembering this and that, I still tend to think that, purely subjectively, I remember Tai more. And not just because Tai was first, which suggests a more edgy experience.
General way of life: Tai is more "advanced", it is clear to us, or something. Still, he has long been in the sphere of influence of the West. Bali outside the gates of the resorts is a grimy third world.
Culture - architecture: It is difficult to compare - after all, different religions, ways of life. But in Thailand - more colorful, brighter, more majestic, even clearer (from one Royal Palace in Bangkok for a week in the eyes of multi-colored "bunnies"). And in Bali, all the temples for us, strangers, look the same - gray, mossy "forked gates". Look at three and realize that the last two could have been skipped :). In stories from the Ramayana, the devil will break his leg.
Handicraft souvenir products, in principle, are similar. The bargaining process too.
Hotel: Long Beach on the pure outskirts of Pattaya (4 *) is in no way inferior to Melia Bali (5 *), if not better. For example, in Tae, crabs, lobsters, shrimp were included in the menu of any dinner, and in Bali, for this you have to drag around all sorts of Jimbarans and bargain until you are blue in the sea restaurants, where fish of just one (!) Species with cloudy eyes are beautifully laid out on ice. Out-of-hotel dining in Pattaya is also more varied (!) and cheaper than in Bali. (By the way, I got the impression that "Balinese cuisine" does not exist - "from the world on a thread").
Tourist attractions. Only in the vicinity of Pattaya: Aquarium (with an underwater tunnel and just in the form of "sea farms" on excursions, where gray-brown-crimson fish the size of a pig swim), Botanical and animal parks, Crocodile show, Elephant show, Snake- show, the same monkeys everywhere. In Bali, there are already some indistinct similarities of these attractions, but in terms of the level of "show" they are far behind.
Sea beach. For example, Melia Bali has neither the sea nor the beach (“the beach” at Melia (5 *) - ashamed to say - is eroded to the extent that sandbags have come out, which are laid at the base of the bulk beach.). And so, it seems, on 90% of the coastline. In Pattaya, this is also not a fountain, but the "bounty" is closer and more accessible. First of all, thanks to regular sea trams for 2 kopecks to the nearest "decent" islands.
"Movement". There is no doubt that in Thailand this is better. Everything is brighter, sharper, more liberal. Pepper is enough. The blood boils. Thais and Thais, by the way, are much prettier than Indonesians, where there is a lot of Chinese admixture in appearance.
There are many more items to compare. In the end, in order to compare, you need to see both. My wife and I decided that Bali was a pale copy of Tai. Next time we will go somewhere to another region, and we will return to Tai when our daughter grows up, we need to show her the paradise nature without quotes.

Many tourists, planning to take a break from everyday routine in an exotic country, are faced with a difficult choice: spend a vacation in Thailand or. Each of these places has its own attraction, returning from these countries, travelers are charged with strength and positive energy for the whole year. This article will consider different criteria by which you can understand which of the countries may become more preferable for a good holiday.

How to get there and how long it will take

To get to Thailand and Bali, you need to spend a lot of time:

  1. . Flights can be chosen at your own discretion: there are more expensive direct flights and flights with transfers on which the tourist will spend a lot of precious time. , while tourists may need at least 20 hours for a flight with a transfer. If you go to Bali from Yekaterinburg, then you can spend only 11 hours on the road by direct flight, and about 8 hours from Khabarovsk.
  2. It is much easier to get a direct flight to Thailand: the maximum travel time will take 10 hours if you fly from St. Petersburg, and the minimum travel time is 6.5 hours if you fly from Khabarovsk and Vladivostok.

Thus, if the traveler does not wish to spend a large number of travel time, then he should opt for a trip to Thailand.

To both countries Russian tourists. This applies to small trips, the total duration of which is no more than 30 days. After this time, a foreigner residing in the Bali Islands and Thailand is required to obtain a visa allowing them to stay in these countries.

If a tourist comes for a vacation not exceeding 30 days, then he will only need a valid passport, which will be stamped with two dates: the date of arrival and departure from Bali and Thailand.

Climatic conditions

Tai and the Bali Islands have a similar equatorial monsoon climate. However, in the weather characteristic of these places, there are the following differences:

  1. Holidays in Bali can overshadow. At the same time, it is important to note that precipitation more often falls at night. Therefore, going to the Bali Islands for the Christmas holidays, you should not worry that your vacation will be spoiled by bad weather. Beach holidays can be organized in Bali at any time of the year, because the weather is almost always warm there, and the water temperature in the ocean rarely drops below 26º.
  2. As for Thailand, the weather there is more capricious and is particularly unpredictable. Precipitation is heavy and falls frequently. The hottest months are May and April, during which time the temperature may not drop below 40º. To insure yourself against bad weather, it is worth planning a trip to Thailand from mid-June to the end of October.

In order for the weather not to bring unforeseen surprises, it is important to plan your vacation in advance, having studied in detail how the weather changes. weather by months on the territory of the Indonesian Islands and Thailand.

The exotic countries of Tai and Bali are about the same. It all depends on the needs and payment abilities of the person going on a trip. If you want to enjoy the flavor of Asian life, try a variety of dishes local cuisine, enjoy the noisy nightlife, you can rent a house on your own. It will cost about $12-50 at both resorts.

Bright nightlife, which allows you to forget all everyday problems for a while and enjoy freedom, cheerful music and unforgettable entertainment, both of these countries are famous. On the island of Bali, for this purpose, you should opt for the resort of Nusa Dua, and in Thailand you can have fun in the town of Sukhumvit, including Phuket or Pattaya.

Coming to the Bali Islands, you can see the lush flowering plants of the tropical forests, enjoy amazing beauty mountain peaks, climb the most high points cliffs and even . Nature in these places amazes with its brightness and exoticism even the most fastidious tourists, who, it seemed, could not be surprised by anything.

Unusual plants grow in Bali, the colors of which convey the whole spectrum of shades of the rainbow. Many birds with bright plumage fly here, and a large number of wild monkeys live in the forests. Along the coast of the gentle sea, you can see real coral reefs.

As for the exotic Tai, this kingdom is also rich in thickets of tropical forests, beautiful mountain peaks, from which unforgettable views open, and multi-stage waterfalls. The nature in these places is striking in its naturalness and uniqueness. A variety of animals are found here, which in our country can only be met in a zoo: rhinos, elephants, wild monkeys.

Before embarking on an amazing journey through the tropics, it is important to pay attention to what animals and insects live in them. This will avoid unpleasant surprises and protect yourself from possible bites.

beach holiday

Bali and Thai offer tourists the most beautiful sandy beaches on the most beautiful sea coasts. But beach holiday in these countries has significant differences:

  1. by the color of the sand (from snow-white to rich brick shade), as well as by its grooming. It should be noted that the beaches of the most popular resorts of the Bali Islands are crowded, and sometimes it is not easy for a tourist to find a secluded place on them.
  2. On the beaches of Thailand, it is easier for tourists to find a place for solitude. Lying on the warm sand, here you can get great vacation souls and bodies.

For tourists who love extreme swimming on the sea waves, Balinese beaches should be preferred. In Bali, the sea is often rough. While in Thailand it is almost impossible to swim on the waves. That is why this resort is often chosen by families with small children.

Variety in nutrition

Very often, tourist trips to new countries allow a person to get acquainted with unusual traditional dishes of these places. Among the popular dishes that the Bali Islands and Thailand are famous for, it is worth highlighting:

  1. Fried, generously seasoned food in Bali. Fried noodles or rice in combination with stewed or fresh vegetables is considered popular. Seafood and juicy fruits will amaze even the most demanding gourmets with their variety.
  2. Thailand is known for spicy food. Various types of noodles are popular here, seasoned with sauces with different flavors. For lovers of food familiar to a Russian person, in Tai you can easily find a good restaurant of European cuisine.

It is rather difficult to find the only correct answer, which of the countries is better suited for recreation, because each of them is unique and interesting in its own way. To make the right choice, it is important to spend a lot of time studying the features of recreation both in the Bali Islands and in Thailand.

Countries South-East Asia– treasures of resorts, monuments and sights. That is why guests from the West have paved many roads here, choosing different countries and regions, for example, or . The island is only part of the Indonesian state, but firmly holds the banner of the leader of the tourism industry, therefore it is quite comparable with the Kingdom of Thailand.

After evaluating the beaches, shopping, cuisine or sights, a tourist can conclude what is attractive about this or that Asian region, what to choose for summer pastime this year, and what to leave for the next.

Bali or Thailand - where is the paradise vacation?

Bali is called the main island tourist center, the social infrastructure is presented in full, there are stunning pictures of nature - volcanoes, forests, endless beaches. An important part of recreation in Indonesian resorts is trips around the country, acquaintance with historical, religious, cultural attractions.

Holidays in Thailand, rather, fit the definition of exotic rather than paradise, as most resorts are noisy, dynamic with full range sports entertainment and fun. Any Thai resort offers beach holidays and restaurants, discos and Thai massage, lovers of "strawberries" go to the show of transvestites, fans of Buddhism - famous temples. Athletes master the air, earth and underwater spaces, meditation lovers are looking for secluded corners.

The best beaches

Many travelers dream of luxury paradise beaches Indeed, there are such territories in Bali, but not everywhere. First, enjoy sea bathing often interfere with the tides, which in this region are quite strong. Beaches covered with coarse yellow sand are suitable for families with children, one more good resort– . Young active tourists gather in, who not only swim and sunbathe, but ride surfs and do other things. water sports sports.

Thailand has a huge number of beach areas, there are rather dirty places, like, and surprising with almost sterile cleanliness. Bang Tao is one of the most famous beaches resort, Kamala Beach, located here, promises silence and solitude. The title of the most beautiful is held by Karon Beach, and the most populous by Patong. Most of The beaches have excellent infrastructure, deck chairs and deck chairs, sports grounds and children's play areas.

Sports and cultural entertainment

Because of strong winds, present in parts of Bali, it is good to surf and windsurf here. Beaches east coast suitable for snorkeling and diving, many professional dive centers are located in the Indonesian resort of Amed. Moreover, you can order a one-time dive service or go on a dive safari for several days. Tourists who decide to travel to the kingdom of the Indonesian Neptune are expected by an underwater canyon and an island, reef and whitetip sharks.

Of the other entertainments in Bali, trips to, which many call the cultural capital of the island, are popular. Here you can get acquainted with Indonesian architecture, the work of the artist Antonio Blanco, watch magnificent performances based on traditional ritual dances.

Of the most popular cultural entertainments in Thailand, one can note the Rose Garden center, which strikes the imagination with the number of varieties and colors, expositions representing the ethnography of Thailand. Guests adore trips to the famous elephant sanctuary, where you can get to know the life of the amazing inhabitants of the planet. Also, the resorts of the country have all the opportunities for practicing various sports, diving firmly holds the first place, here are the most famous places The planets are the Similan Islands.

Historical and architectural sights

On the island of Bali there is a huge number of ancient palaces and shrines. The most memorable temple complexes are: Uluwatu; "mother of temples" - Pura-Besaki, consisting of 20 places of worship; the main sea temple of Ulun Dalu.

Religious buildings are good in and of themselves, but even more vivid emotions await tourists who have come to a dance performance. The southern part of Thailand is well developed by tourists, most guests prefer to travel to this region of the country, where the capital is located. ancient state Siam, the most big statue Buddha. In Northern Thailand, you can also see the mysterious places of worship, beautiful temples and monuments of Thai history.

Comparison of the Indonesian island and the Kingdom of Thailand did not reveal a clear leader in tourism. Each of the regions offers its own list of services and entertainment, designed for guests with any income level. Therefore, you should buy a ticket to Bali for tourists who:

  • would like to get acquainted with exotic countries;
  • adore places of worship;
  • love oriental dances.

Resorts in Thailand should be chosen by those travelers who:

  • want a full vacation;
  • love diving;
  • like to have fun until the morning.

As promised, I will try to present my version of the comparison between Thailand and Bali for a long stay.
The comparison is very subjective.
We have spent the last 3 winters in Thailand and we know it very well.
We were only in Bali for a month, having lived for a week in Ubud, Amed, Jimbaran and traveled around the island.
By Thailand I will mean mainly Pattaya, by Bali - Ubud.

Why I love Thailand so much, and specifically Pattaya is known:
- convenient infrastructure
- tasty food
- correct prices
- convenient location in the center of the country and close to Bangkok
- Russian party and the possibility of local acquaintances and work
- bodily joys in the form of a variety of grubs, baths, massages, etc.

Below are the pros and cons we found in Bali.

Pros and bonuses

beauty
Bali is beautiful. Really beautiful. And this applies to both nature (according to my feelings, there are even foliage on the trees and grass of a very rich bright green color) and everyday life. Very pleasant here cozy houses. Cozy cozy restaurants. Even in villages far from tourist routes the villages are quite pleasant and neat.
The rice terraces are beyond description at all. Everything here is small and playful.

Housing
With housing prices comparable to Thailand, housing here is of higher quality. More precisely, we liked the local houses more. They are more comfortable, more pleasant, more thoughtful. Aesthetically, they look better and more colorful. They have the same Balinese style.

People
We liked the Balinese. Although in the same Java the people are more sincere, but the Balinese for the most part are quite smart, speak good English and are generally accommodating.
The long-lived claim that their excessive attention, constant questions and cries of "hello" tire us, but they did not have time to tire us. Perhaps over time this item will migrate to the minuses, but so far so))

cheap transport
Transport here is cheaper. Our friends rented a bike for a month for 500 thousand ($55). We shot a day for 30-35 thousand. This is a little cheaper than in Thailand. But in Indonesia, gasoline is also cheap - 4500 ($ 0.5) liter. What makes the use of the bike with active movements noticeably cheaper.

visa issue
For long stays, Indonesia is a bit more convenient. We did not encounter this problem and received a stamp upon arrival. For a long-term stay, it is better to get a two-month visa, which can then be extended. There are also all sorts of social visas, etc.

Language
Bahasa is a very simple language. Much easier than Thai
We learned it in a month about the same as Thai in 3 winters.

culture
Bali is very interesting and colorful national culture.
For example. We don't like Thai dancing. Don't like it at all. Quite a sad sight. In Ubud we went to the Balinese folk dance Kichak. Official show. It's mesmerizing.

A wide variety of activities
Despite the fact that the island is relatively small, there are quite a lot of activities, and they are located a maximum of 2-3 hours on a bike. Diving, freediving, surfing, windsurfing, trekking through the jungle and volcanoes, etc.
Even if you live in the center of the island in Ubud, of course, you can’t dive every day, but on the weekends it’s easy to go to Amed to freedive.

Cons and disappointments

Food
This is the main problem of Bali, although rather even Indonesia. Local food is tasteless. We did not try a single local dish, about which you can say, "I really liked it." Lots of fried and fatty foods. Even if it's plain fried rice or pasta, it's very fatty.
In the end, we were saved by macaroons with ready-made food - Makan Padang. There, too, almost everything is fried, but you can choose something more edible and have the usual non-fried rice. The downside is that it is ready-made and lies for who knows how long.
Even simple rice here is much less tasty than in Thailand, although its production is much more difficult. Something similar to our Krasnodar.

Fruit is a complete mess. Bananas are expensive, thick-skinned and tasteless. Watermelons with melons are fresh. Saved by papaya, but it is often green and rotten. They say that there are delicious mangoes, but we were out of season and did not try the mangoes.

The cost of food is comparable to Thailand or a little more expensive.

Infrastructure
With a developed infrastructure, everything is much worse.
The first and most important is the Internet. If in the south or in Ubud there is stable 3G and ADSL, then, for example, in Amed there is no Internet. From mobile at best - EDGE. ADSL is only available in one diving cafe on Dzhemeluk, but its speed is not much better. It's hard to talk on Skype.
Globalization, like in Thailand, has not yet come to every village here.
There will be no usual large shopping centers like Tesco Lotus or Big C.
The roads of Bali are narrow, winding, with not always good coverage and frequent traffic jams, especially in the south.
As for large hospitals and high-quality honey. I'm not sure about service either. But, fortunately, I did not have to check for myself.
In a word - a big village. It feels good here and is both a plus and a minus. For us, more minus.

Need for bargaining
When I come to the market and understand that I have to choose something and bargain, this is normal. I like to bargain when it's a really interesting game and not whining in the style of "madam, plizzzz, plizzz." The standard of the right market and the most exciting bargain for me is the Istanbul market.
But when you have to bargain anywhere and everywhere - it's tiring. And although knowing the right price you will always buy for the right price, constantly haggling everywhere several times a day is still annoying.
From striking examples. On Gili, if you ask the price, they sell for 7000. If you come up and silently, without asking the price, give 5000, then most likely they will sell it silently as well. If you ask and start bargaining, then most likely they will break, swear, but sell. And every time you spend time on this "break, swear" you get tired.

island location
Bali is an island. And this imposes its own restrictions on movement. With a long stay and active movement around the island, the number of interesting things is still reduced)) And there are no easy and cheap ways to move to neighboring regions. Like, for example, in Thailand - a night on the bus and you are in Laos, a few hours in Cambodia.
Although it should be noted that it is possible to fly from Denpasar AirAj or sail to neighboring islands on ferries and explore them.
After all, one of the most remarkable features of Indonesia is that each island is like a separate country.

Paid many places for tourists
Many places are paid for tourists. And this can be understood when you go to a show or a museum. But when you stop on a bike on the side of the road to take pictures of the rice terraces, and guys come running to you with tickets, it's already too much.
Almost all temples for foreigners are paid.
There are paid beaches.
In Thailand, by the way, I don’t know of paid beaches.

Summary
Thailand- a country for hedonists. Everything here is created for the satisfaction and comfort of the body: delicious and varied food, comfortable well-thought-out infrastructure, massage, sauna, for some, sex tourism and other joys of life.

Bali- the choice of aesthetes. With many inconveniences in terms of infrastructure and food, it is beautiful, colorful and diverse in cultural and aesthetic terms.

Next year we plan to visit Indonesia and Bali in particular for another month or two.
