Marriage to an Israeli citizen

A considerable number of people are trying to obtain citizenship of another country through marriage. This method is considered the most reliable. But this path cannot be called short, since at almost every step there are sharp pitfalls.

Marriage to an Israeli citizen is a very difficult procedure. The bride and groom will not only have to take into account the difference in mentality, but also go through many instances.

Acquaintances with the citizens of Israel attract a considerable number of Russian young ladies. It is believed that the Israelis are wonderful husbands and fathers. First of all, this is due to the fact that the citizens of Israel are sensitive to their national values and spiritual traditions.

If the goal of a Russian woman is to meet an Israeli, then she will not least have to think about the difference in mentality. Many Israelis are very religious. If the acquaintance takes place, this does not mean that the young will be able to marry.

In this regard, Jewish laws are even stricter than Islamic ones. A person of Jewish nationality does not have the right to marry a non-Christian.

There are no marriage institutions in Israel. Only religious marriage is legal.

The authorities of the Israeli state recognize the registration of marriage in any other country. So, you can register your relationship where the acquaintance took place. But if the acquaintance took place on neutral territory, then there should be no problems with marriage. If the acquaintance took place on one of the special sites, then all points regarding marriage should be discussed in advance.

Interfaith marriage is possible only if the bride and groom register their relationship in the Czech Republic or Cyprus. Of course, there is no difference where the acquaintance took place in this case.

Israeli marriage law

The state has a special law on marriage. This law states that the issue of marriage can only be decided in accordance with Jewish law.

A few years ago, the law was more lenient. According to this law, there was no need to register a marriage contracted abroad, even in the Israeli embassy. If an interfaith marriage was contracted outside the borders of the Israeli state, then the problem was solved.

Today there is a serious problem with the orthodox citizens of Israel. Orthodox Jews believe that marriage registration is possible only in accordance with ancient traditions. They seriously believe that if interfaith marriages become commonplace, it will do the country a disservice.

But the law does not take into account the opinion of the orthodox part of society. Israel is a secular state, and today more and more often the law recognizes the legality of a marriage between a Jew and a non-Jew.

There is no definition of civil marriage in the usual sense in the law. If the marriage was entered into on the territory of the Israeli state legally, then there is a need for its official approval by religious authorities. If representatives of different confessions want to start a family, then they have the opportunity to officially register their relationship only in a third country.

As in Catholicism, in Judaism a divorced man cannot marry a free woman. This contributed to the breakup of many happy couples.

Information for the Orthodox

If both the bride and groom are Jewish, then there is no better place to register a relationship in 2019 than Bnei Brak.

A significant part of the population of Bnei Brak are Orthodox Jews. Once in Bnei Brak, you get the feeling that you are in the distant past. On Saturday, which is officially considered a day off, the streets of Bnei Brak are habitually empty. There are no cinemas, nightclubs or other entertainment facilities in Bnei Brak. A significant part of the streets on Saturdays is closed for buses and cars.

Bnei Brak has the official status of the most religious city in Israel. This city has:

  • several dozen religious schools;
  • two hundred synagogues;
  • several dozen yeshivas (a yeshiva is a higher religious educational institution).

In ancient times, Bnei Brak belonged to the Philistines. During the Second Temple period, the city passed to the Jews. The mention of this ancient orthodox city is even in the Talmud.

The issue of civil marriage

According to existing Israeli law, a civil marriage can only be entered into through employees of a special agency. Civil marriage in the understanding of the Israelis is not the cohabitation of a man and a woman. The procedure for concluding a civil marriage is quite complicated. If none of the collected documents is satisfactory, then through a civil marriage it is possible later.

Foreigners do not have the right to enter into a civil marriage in the territory of the Israeli state. If the bride and groom are not Orthodox Jews, then in order to avoid problems, they are recommended to enter into a civil marriage in Europe.

The procedure for concluding such a marriage is quite simple. If there are no questions about any of the collected documents, then you can get a marriage certificate in one day.

Wedding in the CIS

A considerable number of people marry Israeli citizens in the territory of the former Soviet Union. According to the existing legislation, after some time, the Israeli spouse has the opportunity to call his wife to his homeland.

The procedure is as follows:

  • first you need to get a marriage certificate, legalize it and certify it with two seals;
  • prepare a package of documents confirming the authenticity of the marriage;
  • submit documents to the Israeli Ministry of Internal Affairs;
  • fill out a special application form;
  • attach all documents to the application;
  • issue .

Preparation of a package of documents

The marriage certificate must be certified not only with seals, but also with an apostille. The original of this document must be provided to the Israeli Ministry of Internal Affairs. A high-quality photocopy remains in the custody of the wife or spouse of an Israeli.

Confirming that a marriage with an Israeli is not fictitious is quite simple. To do this, you need to provide all joint photographs, printouts of phone conversations and correspondence in Skype or e-mail. A weighty argument is evidence in favor of the newlywed parents of the husband or wife.

After some time, the wife of an Israeli has the right to enter the territory of this country as a tourist and stay as a wife.

What is important to remember

The procedure for issuing an invitation may take several weeks. Without the permission of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the entry of a foreign person into the territory of the Israeli state is impossible.

Some time after arrival, a foreign person undertakes to apply to the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with a request to grant the status of a spouse.

After some time, a foreign person has the right to receive. This usually happens after 6-12 months.

Legalization of marriage

Marriage in Israel will not be recognized by any authority until it is legalized. It is important to understand that the legalization of the concluded union is a rather complex and multi-stage process. Every few years, newly-made spouses are obliged to prove that their marriage is not fictitious.

If they can go through this difficult path, then in the fifth year a foreign person receives citizenship of the Israeli state. The legalization of a marriage union involves the provision of the following documents to the wife of an Israeli:

  • international passport;
  • birth certificate certified by an apostille;
  • document from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation;
  • certificate from the registry office.

These documents are considered essential. In addition to this list, in order to legalize the marriage union, you must provide the original marriage certificate. You must also submit a correctly completed application form.

An equally important document is a letter from a house manager in Israel. This letter should state that the manager confirms the fact that the spouses live together.

Sometimes spouses are also required to provide receipts for utility bills. After that, the legalization process can be considered completed.
