According to the Airbus aerodynamic design, both the A321 and the A320, which has become the older version, are twin-engine low-wing aircraft with a swept wing and single-fin vertical tail. The airliner received a reinforced wing, characterized by increased reliability. It has special endings called sharklets. They are made as winglets and are designed for improved versions of the A320. Company representatives note that sharklets increase the aerodynamics of the aircraft, reduce fuel consumption by 3.5% and minimize carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere. The first model A321-100 was produced from 1994 with V2500 or CFM56 engines. The plane could have become a serious competitor even to the Boeing 757, but this did not happen. The reason for this was insufficiently advanced characteristics. Therefore, in 1996, a second model was introduced.
