The Partizanskaya metro station was opened on January 18, 1944. At that time it was called “Izmailovskaya”. In 1963, it was renamed “Izmailovsky Park”, but this name was not the last. In 2005, in honor of the 60th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, the station was given a new name “Partizanskaya”, which fully corresponds to the theme of its design.

Design of the Partizanskaya metro station

The main theme of the station's design is the partisan movement during the Great Patriotic War. “Partizanskaya” itself somewhat deviates from the standards generally accepted for most Moscow metro stations. There are three paths on Partizanskaya - one in the center and two on the edges. The metro station arch is supported by two rows of columns, each located on its own platform. The columns are lined with white marble. Next to the columns closest to the exit, there are sculptures of partisans Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya and Matvey Kuzmin. Another one sculptural group“People's Avengers” decorates the intermediate platform between the stairs leading to the lobby of the Partizanskaya station.

The upper part of the track walls is covered with white marble, with brown ceramic tiles below. Both platforms at the Partizanskaya metro station were previously paved. After renovations in 2007-2008, part of the asphalt was replaced with granite.

The Partizanskaya metro station is equipped with only one ground vestibule, which opens to Izmailovskoye Shosse, Narodny Prospekt and Izmailovsky Park. The station is open to passengers from 5.25 to 1.00.

One of the project names for the future Partizanskaya metro station sounded like “Stalin Stadium”. They wanted to call it that because they were going to build the largest stadium in the USSR next to the metro. Three tracks at the station were made for the same reason. It was assumed that after sporting events, two tracks would not be enough to accommodate the increased flow of passengers. The stadium near the Partizanskaya station was never built, but the middle route is used for train turnover in the evening.

There are niches above the middle track of the Partizanskaya station. These niches originally contained frescoes that have not survived to this day. There is a version that they were removed because passengers looked at them and fell onto the rails.

The station is located on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line, between the Semenovskaya and Izmailovskaya stations, not far from the Izmailovskoye highway.

Station history

The station began operating on January 18, 1944. At that time, it was part of the Kurskaya section - Izmailovsky Park of Culture and Leisure named after Stalin. The largest stadium in the Union was to be built next to the station. Stalin, therefore new station was built with the expectation of huge passenger traffic. For this purpose, 3 lines were built at the station and it was planned to build an additional exit, which was supposed to take passengers to the only stadium in the capital with a six-line escalator. But due to the war, and later due to unacceptable hydrogeological conditions, the stadium was never built, and the station was redesigned. In 2006, the lobby ceilings were renovated. In 2007-2008, the station's flooring was changed. The asphalt was replaced with dark marble, and the light marble, from which the ornament was laid on the floor, was replaced with red granite.

History of the name

In the project the station was called “Stadion im. Stalin" or "USSR Stadium", but until the stadium was built, they decided to call the station "Izmailovo Park of Culture and Leisure named after Stalin". Until 1948, the station bore this name, after which it was renamed Izmailovskaya. In 1963, the station received a new name - “Izmailovsky Park”, and was called that until 2005, when it was renamed again. In honor of the 60th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the station was named “Partizanskaya”.

Description of the station

The station's interior is designed in accordance with its name. The track walls are decorated with bas-reliefs by the sculptor S. L. Rabinovich. Near the two columns closest to the exit there are sculptures of partisans Matvey Kuzmin and Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya. On the landing of the exit stairs there is a sculptural group “Partisans”. The niches located above the middle path are empty today, but once round lamps and frescoes by the artist A.D. Goncharov were installed in them, which had to be removed due to the fact that some passengers looked at the frescoes so enthusiastically that sometimes they simply fell on middle track rails. The upper part of the track walls and station columns are lined with white marble. The lower part is lined ceramic tiles Brown color. The ground lobby is lined with white and red marble.
