The information that the passenger cruise ship, which has been in the center of Moscow since June 1993, operating as a docking ship, has already been confirmed this spring. Accordingly, the cultural and entertainment art center, opened on board the ship in 2014, will be closed.

From 1993 to 2005, on board the Valery Bryusov, in addition to the hotel and restaurants, a casino functioned, after the ban on the gambling business, a converted karaoke center.

In July 2014, the cultural and entertainment art center "Ship Bryusov", developed by the Flacon design plant, was on board the ship. In the autumn of the same year, the center, but in June 2015 again, which continues to the present moment.

Valery Bryusov is a three-deck passenger motor ship with a rich past, which has already served its term as a floating craft. Once it was considered one of the most comfortable in Russia and took tourists on cruises, including foreign ones. Then it became a hotel and restaurant, as well as the world's first public platform for residents of Moscow and guests of the city. But now the ship has left the capital and will be moored at the port of Kimry. We will tell you about the history and past of this cruise ship below.

Building a ship

"Valery Bryusov" is a motor ship, which was created by the Austrians. His homeland is the city of Korneuburg, at the shipyard of which he saw the light. The motor ship was built in 1985 and sold to the Moscow River Shipping Company. True, there is some information that all these five received, as it were, "in the load" to other orders. After all, this project was planned back in the Soviet Union, and there were somewhat different economic calculations. Initially, the ship was intended for tourist and cruise purposes. It was named after the famous Russian poet Valery Bryusov. In those years, the ship was one of the most upscale and was built at the famous Austrian shipyard, which specialized in such ships.

Project Q-065: what is it?

This was the name of the idea for the construction of the same type of cruise ships. They were created in 1984-1986 in Austria specifically for Russian shipping companies. A total of five were built. They served the Moscow, Ob-Irtysh and Lena shipping companies. These are "Sergei Yesenin", "Alexander Blok", "Demyan Bedny", "Mikhail Svetlov" and the ship "Valery Bryusov". The ships of this project were the property of the Moscow and Lena tourist fleets. The project at that time was considered super-modern and was intended to serve the so-called "blue ring".

"Valery Bryusov" during cruise operation: description of the vessel

This ship, like all five of its brothers, can accommodate one hundred and eighty people. It was intended for domestic river cruises. Its decks housed cabins for one, two and four people. There were also deluxe rooms. All cabins had showers, toilets and washbasins, as well as radios. The suites had sofas, refrigerators and televisions. "Valery Bryusov" is a motor ship, the equipment of which also provided for the provision of various services on board. At the disposal of passengers were: an ironing room, a cinema, a sauna, a dance floor, a bar and a restaurant for 80 people. The ship also had a salon with panoramic windows.

The ship was launched in 1985. Its length is 90 meters, width - 15. It can reach speeds of up to 22 km per hour, and its displacement was 1342 tons. The sailing draft was a little more than one and a half meters.

"Valery Bryusov" (motor ship): route

The ship worked on tourist lines until 1991, and according to some sources - until 1992. He made walks and cruises on the Moscow - Petersburg route. On this ship it was possible to walk along the rivers and lakes of the European part of Russia. There was a ship on the Volga, Oka, Neva, Kama, on the Don. I walked along Ladoga, Onega and Beloe lakes. Cruise routes varied from 1 (walking) to 22 days. The program included visits to ancient cities and cultural and historical centers of Russia - Ples, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Murom, St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, Yaroslavl.

But the ship turned out to be economically unprofitable. The elite handsome motor ship "Valery Bryusov" (photos from 1985-1989 testify to this) consumed too much fuel. Although its size was small and allowed to travel along rivers, its services were abandoned after a few years. Financial problems were added to the issues with repairs. There was a shortage of spare parts of the required type in Russia. Austrian or German ones were in short supply, and a replacement could not be found. In the end, it became easier to take the ships out of service. The only vessel of this type, which is still used for its intended purpose in the European part of Russia, is the “Sergei Yesenin”.

Motor ship after "retirement"

Since 1993, the ship has no longer been used as a cruise ship. It did not change ownership, but became a floating hotel and restaurant on the Moskva River. Its new address was a place not far from the Kremlin, the vernissage and the House of Artists: 10. The motor ship "Valery Bryusov" turned into a landing stage. It is interesting that in order to deliver the ship to the center of Moscow, it was specially prepared for this, and the level of the river was lowered so that the ship could pass under the bridges. For the sake of the latter, the management of the shipping company even had to commit malpractice. In 1994, all the necessary communications were completed, and a hotel, restaurant and casino were opened on board. A lot of money and work was invested in this business. But in the 2000s, many hotels were built in the capital, and the gambling business was banned. The hotel became unprofitable, and its comfort standards did not meet modern requirements. In the end, only budget tourists and students used its services, and even then less and less. It was closed in 2009, and the restaurant was closed in 2011.

Disputes over reconstruction

When the embankment began to be rebuilt, the ship caused numerous discussions both among architects and among the public. There were proposals to remove him from the river altogether. But since 2014, two companies - Drimers United and Flacon - have decided to make something special out of him. This concept considered the outlived tourist career, but still functional motor ship "Valery Bryusov", photographs with the image of which illustrate this article, as a public space of a new type. Thematically and architecturally, it was supposed to fit into the new style of the center of Moscow, as well as become part of the nearby Muzeon Park. This concept was approved by the city authorities and implemented.

Public space

Until recently, what was the ship "Valery Bryusov"? lecture hall, walking area, shopping and training center? A little bit of everything. There were creative studios and a cinema, and almost every day different cultural programs were realized. We can say that this was the first example in the world of using a ship in this way, which is laid up. Boutiques, a hairdresser and a health food restaurant were on the main deck. On the boat are various bureaus, agencies, lecture halls and training centers. Above - workshops, fast food with Greek cuisine, as well as panoramic areas where cultural and festive events were held.

State of the art

Nevertheless, it has recently turned out that the authorities of the capital have nevertheless decided to tow the ship from the Crimean embankment. This decision was made by the court, accusing the owners of the vessel that they violated the Water Code of Russia. All tenants of offices and public areas on the ship, at the request of the prosecutor's office, which was satisfied, had to leave its territory by May 27 of this year. Now the ship has given up mooring lines from the Krymskaya embankment for the first time in many years. This time, in order to conduct it under the bridges of the capital, the wheelhouse was dismantled. The ship was taken to the port of Kimry, where its status as a public space will be restored. But not in Moscow anymore. There are some suggestions that the ship can be used again for cruise purposes by installing new engines and making repairs. After all, this has already happened with ships that have become docked. Well, as they say, wait and see!

The motor ship "Valery Bryusov" moored at the Crimean embankment in 1993. At various times there was a hotel, a restaurant, a casino and even, according to the information of "Komsomolskaya Pravda", a brothel. Since 2014, an art center with an uncomplicated name - "Bryusov Ship" has been broken on the ship. It is located near the "Gorky Park", in the "Muzeon" garden.

In 2015, Maria Chirgadze, director of the Moscow retail Babylon, told ViVA la Cloud, the first store of the chain was opened at Bryusov. “Swaying gently on the waves, Vodny (Vodny is called Babylon on Bryusov. This is the naming of the chain's stores - hereinafter in parentheses, editor's note) opens its doors to those whose skate brakes itself only after seeing Bryusov's stern ", - says the description of the store on the company's website. Shoe shops are located in the adjacent and opposite cabins of the ship.

On April 12, TASS reported that Valery Bryusov was ordered to sail off the embankment. It all started with the Moscow Transport Prosecutor's Office - the officials found that "the ship works without a water use agreement" and filed a lawsuit against the owners. He, according to TASS, agreed with the theses of the supervisory service - and ordered to remove the ship. ViVA la Cloud could not find a court decision in the official online headings.

The owners themselves speak of the situation as a settled matter - the Bryusov Ship will close its doors on May 15th. Now the project “needs to find a new place” for the ship, the words of the owner of the ship Nikolai Matushevsky are quoted in a press release (available to the publication). The Komsomolskaya Pravda material, however, claims that Bryusov will be "taken to the ship graveyard, where they will rub it on needles on a fine grater." In order for him to crawl under the bridges, the wheelhouse and false pipes will be removed from the ship.

The Bryusov administration offered the tenants to move to the Khlebzavod creative space (near the Dmitrovskaya metro station), Sira Lobyan, the PR director of the ship, told ViVA la Cloud. It will be “not free of charge, but with the preservation of the previous conditions,” she stressed. Babylon did not agree to these conditions. “We don’t really like this location,” explained Maria Chirgadze, responsible for the retail chain. - The store will be open until May 13. We will simply close it, we will not transport it anywhere ”. V

"Valery Bryusov", apparently, was a fun place, and I am a little sorry that I did not manage to catch the old times. According to the Austrian shipbuilders, it is a comfortable motor ship adapted for Russian winters, with a cinema hall, a giant restaurant and a luxurious wardroom. He sailed to Moscow as part of one government purchase of perestroika times, but spent the last part of his life in a joke at the Crimean embankment - dirty and eternal, like a snowdrift on the side of the road. Years passed, the cinema was converted into a casino, Korean pickles in the restaurant changed places from sushi, pylons appeared in the bar, cabins were rented out by the hour. Some rooms in the Moscow love hotel on the water were decorated with fiction: there was a cowboy, and hallucinogenic mirrors, and a stuffed zebra. A bunch of forgotten passports and all sorts of certificates were moldy in the table of finds: not only all regions of Russia were represented, but also the former Soviet republics.

I got on the ship in April, when the cribs, battered by time, had already turned into a mountain of firewood: it was decided to turn the vessel into a cultural resting place on the water. This was conducted by people who have not yet crossed the threshold of their thirties - and equally far from river crafts, and from Sergei Kapkov, and from the trade and restaurant sphere.

Photo: Ivan Erofeev

It all looked like an adventure, and it was an adventure. Bryusov is operated by the Moscow River Shipping Company, a private company that has agreed with the owner of the Flacon design plant that his team will try to turn the ship into a worthy neighbor for the dramatically prettier Muzeon Park and Krymskaya Embankment. The matter was complicated by the fact that the right to lease the landing stage is valid until the end of 2016, but this spring Sobyanin decided to put things in order on the Moskva River and dismantle all the fragile boats adhered to it. The Mayor's Office quoted experts who reminded that "alien objects of anthropogenic origin have a negative impact on the water area." It is difficult to say whether Sobyanin planned to return the fish to the river, but he began cleaning the aquarium.

The task before the Bryusov team was difficult: to come up with a new mythology and design for the ship, preserve valuable original details, bring beauty to public areas, hand over the holds and cabins to like-minded shops, cafes and creative bureaus - and explain to tenants that all this can be demolished before the end of the year. The Department of Culture did not support this story. More or less four of us acted. Aleksey Kapitanov from Flacon was in charge of the business - but had to master several new crafts and terms. For example, "Bryusova" shakes from time to time: Kapitanov explains that it's all about the one-meter wave jump: when Radisson pleasure boats exceed their speed even a little, the river, along with all its contents, begins to agitate. Alexey Onatsko and Maria Oleinikova from the association Dreamers United live between St. Petersburg and Moscow and do a lot of things: from forest raves and balls at the von Bismarck mansion in St. Petersburg to the Yeti Snow Station sphere in Krylatskoye and stage design for concerts like Kings of Convenience at the Green Theater. Now they had to reshape the ship from a brothel into something amazing - unlike either the Flacon or Gorky Park on market day. Maxim Levitin worked in a tiny book publishing house Lamartis, which publishes books on such technologies, as if neither the 20th nor the 21st century had come yet, and took up communication with the outside world. Although there is no engine in the belly of the "Bryusov", according to the rules of the river register, there must always be a captain, an electrician, a sailor and a minder - at first they watched the new team with a squint.

Photo: Ivan Erofeev

Three months later, all the same people, including the captain and the sailor, who were only pretty exhausted, smashed a bottle of champagne on the side and called everyone to the opening. It turned out, it seems, grandiose.

What is so special about Bryusov? First, the views. From the round windows open quite unexpected panoramas, where the monument to Peter, and the Cathedral of Christ the Savior - and even the "Red October" looks somehow in a new way. Secondly, the ship's surroundings save everything: doing yoga in the morning on a waxed deck overlooking the water, the park and lifeboats (and there is already such a thing here, and for free) is all the more pleasant than even in the park. There is indeed a lot of noble junk here: dashboards made of yellowed plastic, sliding doors like from Cold War spy movies, brass-studded stairways and strange lights. Thirdly, a quite nice model has been invented here: it can afford to rent a cabin or two, like the Adidas corporation, which opens a concept store here on August 7

The Village continues its column, which tells about the iconic non-residential buildings in Moscow. In connection with the imminent closure of the ship "Valery Bryusov" on the Crimean embankment, which has become an important art cluster and a symbol of the city, we decided to talk with those who did business here and organized parties.

History

Motor ship "Valery Bryusov" on the coast of the Crimean embankment in the "Muzeon" park as an art space on July 13, 2014. Although the ship was moored to the embankment back in 1993, and before that, it was operated on the water for eight years. Before the reconstruction of Bryusov, a hotel, a restaurant, a casino and (according to unofficial information) a brothel had been operating here for 20 years.

The reconstruction of the ship and its transformation into an art cluster was carried out by the Realogic Management Company team, headed by businessman Nikolai Matushevsky, which is also the Flacon design plant, and now an active new urban space - "". The first residents of Bryusov were the Art. Lebedev Studio store, Sito cafe, Volna bar, Physika showroom, Jerusalem Bazar jewelry store, Lamartis hand-bound bookshop and adidas Originals concept store.

However, already in September 2014, a couple of months after the opening, the new place had problems: the Rospotrebnadzor inspection ship. In particular, the department found unmarked inventory on the ship, while the ship did not have special tanks for the disposal of fluorescent lamps. For these and other reasons, the ship was recognized as unsafe for visitors and closed until all defects were eliminated.

"Bryusov" his work in June 2015. This time there are about two dozen residents on it. Half of them are already familiar from the previous year, the rest are beginners. In particular, a store for vapers Babylon Vape Shop, a language school Mypeople, a yoga studio Yoga Boat, a cafe Mams & Paps appeared. In addition, techno parties began to be held on the ship, the most popular of them being Meduza.

At the beginning of April, it became known that Bryusov would be closed in mid-May by the prosecutor's office, since it “works in the format of an art center on water and is operated without a water use agreement,” which violates paragraph 2 of part 1 of article 11 of the Water Code of the Russian Federation. For this, the legal entity that owns the motor ship - JSC "Moscow Tourist Fleet" - and the general director of the company must pay a fine of 50 and 10 thousand rubles, respectively.

The Bryusov administration said that from 2015 to 2017, it negotiated with the Moscow City Department of Transport about the possibility of preserving the project. As a result, it was not possible to agree - the authorities to move the ship from the water area of the Moskva River. The corresponding decision was approved by the Zamoskvoretsky court.

The further fate of the ship has not yet been officially announced. It is only known that the ship will not be in its usual place after May 15. In order for the ship to pass under the bridges, the upper deck will most likely be cut off, but “maybe the government will come up with another method of transportation,” the space representatives said.

A PLACE: ship "Valery Bryusov"

FUNCTIONS: trading platforms, educational projects, exhibitions, entertainment and sports events

EXPLOITATION: passenger cruise ship "Valery Bryusov", built in Austria in 1984, since June 1993 has been operated as a docking ship, as an art cluster started working in 2014

RECONSTRUCTION: Realogic Management Company

SQUARE: LAB - the center of the ship with an area of 120 square meters

Sundeck - 260 square meters deck

I have been on the ship from the very beginning, that is, for more than three years now, I have rented a small cabin here, which I use as a studio. In the summer I play on the sun deck as a full-time DJ.

The ship is the main reason why I ended up in Moscow at all. I studied music in St. Petersburg, then my studio burned down there - against the background of these events I freaked out and left the country, hung out in Germany, and when my visa ended, I returned. Six months before that, Lesha Kapitanov and I (director of the ship "Bryusov". - Ed.) we talked a little drunk, and he said: "In short, Kirill, we are seizing a ship in the center of Moscow, we are doing three event sites." And now, after a little time, they called me to the opening of Bryusov.

So I got on the ship, played the first performance, and after it I walked around here and went into one room - closed my eyes and presented a bunch of my devices in it. Then I told Kapitanov that they lacked musical space on the ship. I returned to St. Petersburg, and the next day the ship's director called me, offered that room for the studio and said: “We generally need hands. In short, am I taking you a ticket to Moscow today? "

So I ended up on the ship. I help everyone here on the technical side, but I don't get paid for it, but I got a big discount on rent and I play at parties, in the summer I play here on a regular basis. When I started writing music on the ship, my sound changed a lot. The ship sometimes rocks, and this is reflected in the groove of my music - a kind of circular wiggling appeared in the sound.

There are two completely different periods of the life of this place. Before the ship was closed - the Old Testament and after - the New Testament. The entire core of the team was formed, for the most part, in the Old Testament, and the closure became a filter of people. Those who were commercially minded immediately fell off, and those who perceived the place as an art cluster returned, in spite of everything, and began to cooperate even more closely. In the Old Testament "Bryusov" were 50% of the people from St. Petersburg, and they brought here St. Petersburg romance. It had its own principle of human interaction. Everyone knew in advance that the ship could be closed, but they continued to work here.

At first, the captain of the ship looked at us very suspiciously, because in the 90s there was a casino and cabins for hourly rent, but then he believed that we would create something completely different. I can imagine how sad it is to be the captain of a ship that does not float.

This is the place where foreigners had to be taken in Moscow, there were many tourists here, and one can be proud of it. A lot of educational projects took place on the ship, they taught DJing and writing music, held festivals dedicated to the visual arts, and all kinds of food markets. Apart from permanent residents, there were temporary activities here. In winter, life on "Bryusov" froze, traffic became less, but rental rates were also lowered for residents who stayed for the winter. There were also those who left before the cold weather, having worked for one season.

It is important to understand that now the claims of the prosecutor's office are not against the project of the ship "Bryusov" - not for us, but for the owner of the ship. We are in Russia, so I am not very surprised by what is happening. This is a Russian business, it works like that, I came across a similar one in St. Petersburg. There was a place called “Quarter”, where dudes in leather jackets with bats somehow arrived and forced the tenants outside.

For many people, this place has become a kind of start, it has added enthusiasm to them. Some part of the projects is now moving to Khlebozavod, the rest - I don't know. I have heard such information that the upper deck of the ship is being cut down and the ship is heated so that it saves under the bridge. There is a resentment for the fact that it was possible to do this at the end of the summer, and not before the start of the season.

Passers-by afraid to come here think that the ship will sail away. Some ask how much tickets cost

Our project is four years old, but for three of them we only worked online. April 21 marks the year since we opened at Bryusov. But I decided to cancel the celebration because our story ends here.

I sell jewelry myself, I work from 12:00 to 20:00 six days a week. Two or three people work in the store at the same time. Other sellers work two after two. On my day off, I come here anyway.

We were looking for an unusual place to shop because our jewelry is handmade and unique. The ship literally immediately captivated me - on the waves, romance. Nearby - the Tretyakov Gallery, in the summer before work I walked in the Muzeon park. Sometimes I would rent a hoverboard or segway and ride them for lunch.

On the lower decks, the roll is felt more strongly. I don't have seasickness, but at first, after a whole day in the store, I was rocked at home, especially in the shower. Although it was not my task to support the marine theme, I decided to make everything white, keep more air and light in the design, so that it would be convenient to look at the decorations.

Tourists constantly drop in here, you feel like in an aquarium. At the same time, many passers-by are afraid to enter, they think that the ship will set sail. Some people ask how much tickets cost. Previously, I was also afraid to go here, it seemed to me that it was a restaurant or there was a paid entrance here. When I did look in, I was delighted: there were many creative workshops here, and I wanted to be a part of it. Working on a ship is a status. Our store cooperates a lot with Europeans, and they sincerely admire when I tell them about the location of the store.

Diana Muzhanova

sales assistant in the clothing store "Usta to mouth"

I have been working in "Mouth to mouth" on "Bryusov" for several months. Before that, she worked in the stores of the chain in St. Petersburg, then moved to Moscow. I like that trade takes place on a ship, it's unusual and interesting. Although if you remove the pitching, then this is an ordinary store with a good view of the river. When boats pass by, one feels that the ship is rocking. But I'm used to it, and it doesn't bother me much.

I work part-time from 12:00 to 21:00 two in two. In bad weather, 15–20 people come a day. On weekdays, until five in the evening, there are usually few people, and in the evening the movement begins. There are a lot of people here on weekends, but I'm used to a large flow of people. Every two months we are given a uniform, that is, we can choose clothes from the store's assortment and keep them for ourselves.

I know almost all of the store employees. At Lambada we hand out business cards, and the townspeople are surprised: many have not even heard of the Bryusov ship. Once we had a check here, serious uncles walked around, neighbors were fined. However, I learned about the closure of the place from the news. I am sad, but I will continue to work in a new place where we will move.

If you open windows and close eyes, when a ship sails by, then you can imagine that you are at sea

I've been on the ship for two years now, I fell in love with this place right away. Friends laugh at me, they say that she went to the Morflot. I work in a cafe and come here almost every day, especially in summer. Sometimes I had to work for months without days off. Sometimes there are queues in the corridor, and in winter there is also a calm calm. Then, in fact, one person can do it here.

I made most of the cranes myself. Some were made by guests who wanted to contribute to the place. I tell them: "Come and visit your cranes, they are your children." The gloomiest people smile at me. Those in a hurry stay to chat with us for three hours. Strength comes from their response.

It happens that in the summer everyone comes in, they say that the weather is good, and you are standing sweaty at the bar near the coffee machine, and it makes you bake. But there is no better place to work in the summer. You can go out on deck to get some air, and life immediately gets better. And if you open the windows and close your eyes when a ship is sailing by, you can imagine that you are at sea.

When Meduza techno parties take place here, I stay until the morning. Then I sleep for several hours and then go to work again. Here I go to good movie screenings.

Interesting projects and people are gathered on the ship, so I'm not looking for anything on the side. We are friends with other cafes and do not compete. When the glasses run out, we go to the Greeks at the Sito or the Mexicans at Na Chili. Everyone on the ship is part of the crew. A friendly atmosphere reigns here, when they meet, everyone hugs and wishes each other a good day.

There has been talk of shutting down the ship since 1914. But our pirate spirit did not allow this to happen, we always avoided problems. Now we are being deprived of our home. We come up with a grandiose program for all the May holidays with the whole ship crew. On May 6th we are hosting a ship-wide party on the upper deck.

When a person is in shakes for the first time, some think that they will feel bad now, grabbing the head and heart. But drawing the pitching does not interfere

In April, our school celebrated the year. She existed here all the time. The ship is an amazing place, perfect for artistic activities, we did many plein airs on deck. I will not be shy and say that our wardroom is one of the best rooms on the ship. We made some renovations, slightly altered the layout, but the most important thing is our original, fantastically beautiful ceiling.

We are engaged in education here on an ongoing basis. We work seven days a week. They put their soul into the business, a lot of time and money. The school employs two administrators and myself, all the teachers are invited. I visit here almost every day on work issues and I get great pleasure when I see the audience filling up with interested students: this unique place works very efficiently. I love to come here and relax on the couch in my free time, enjoying the amazing atmosphere.

At one time, I was the head of the laboratory on the flagship of the space fleet. Therefore, the marine theme is close to me, sometimes I am nostalgic for those times. Some of the items in our studio reflect the romance of the ship. For example, we use small ropes to hang pictures.

When a person starts to shake for the first time, he thinks that he is feeling bad now, grabs his head and heart. But the pitching does not interfere with drawing. We have a small seating area, and all the stands can be easily moved depending on what is taking place here: a lecture or a practical lesson. Whichever way you look, you can immediately draw cityscapes from nature. In the summer, we often hold open airs on the deck. We enclose the space with ribbons for several hours and draw. We wanted to resume them soon, but what happened happened.

There are drawbacks to the ship, of course. For example, sometimes in the summer there are a lot of people. It happens that during a lecture on the upper deck, a noisy disco begins. But there were no conflicts, we have friendly tenants, and we always meet each other halfway.

There is a great community here: mostly our Russian brands and manufacturers, small pleasant coffee shops. I love to walk on the ship, to communicate with people. There is a pleasant youth environment here.

Renting by boat is even cheaper than renting the same premises on the neighboring streets. This is associated with risks: we were warned at the entrance that there was a problem with the prolongation of the contract. We will move to the former workshop of Pyotr Konchalovsky on Bolshaya Sadovaya. There is less space there, so, of course, our school will have to reduce the number of courses.
