Lake of ice shackles how to get into the WWII. Icegrass Lake in WOW

AT World of Warcraft a lot of interesting and incomprehensible for beginners. With the release of WotLK, a lot of content and interesting things have been added. One of these innovations is the global PvP location: Ice Grass Lake. The event periodically takes place there: Battle for the Icegrass Lake. When an inexperienced player gets there, he simply does not know what to do and how to behave. Therefore, in this guide, I will try to clarify and tell the features.

How to get to Icegrass Lake?

In patch 3.2, the mechanics of hitting the OLO has slightly changed. Now a limited number of people take part in the battle on OLO. You can get into the lake on OLO 15 minutes before the start through the PVP interface (button "H" in English). Also, those who were on the OLO before the start are in the queue.

But at the same time, the number of players is limited to 120 people on each side. There may be more applicants for OLO, so a random selection is made among the players in the queue. There is a small priority for players of 80 lvl, but everyone can participate.

You can see when the next battle will start from the PVP interface or by looking at the map while in Northrend.

Quests in the Icegrass Lake?

On the Lake you can take several quests, you will find everything at the link. Quests give experience, gold, honor and shards of the guardian. It is advisable to take quests at the beginning of the battle (many of them are daily), during the battle you will complete them. What you didn’t do, you will finish in three hours with the next battle.

With patch 3.1, quests have changed from daily to weekly. The reward for them has been increased, but they can be completed once a week. Update seems to be on Tuesday. But for one quest they give 10 fragments and 3xxx honor.

What to do with honor and fragments will be discussed below.

The Meaning of the Battle for Icegrasp Lake

There is a fortress, which is the main target of the battle. There are defenders and there are attackers (horde or alliance). The one who captured the fortress in the previous battle defends the fortress in the next. The point is to capture the relic of the titans during an attack and prevent it from being captured during defense.

Types of combat and defense vehicles in Icegrasp Lake

About the defenders there are defensive cannons that stand in the towers. These cannons can be broken, but after a while they are restored again, the towers can be destroyed and will not be restored until the end of the battle. Losing three towers reduces the battle time by 10 minutes.

In addition, there are catapults and other siege weapons. Their number depends on the number of captured factories. Initially, the defenders can build up to 8 siege engines. The attackers should occupy the factories. Control over each of the factories gives +4 cars.

Catapults are effective against infantry and not very effective against walls and towers.

Destroyers and siege engines are good at breaking walls and are not effective against infantry. For this reason, infantry cover is required.

How to build catapults in Icegrasp Lake?

At the beginning of the battle, you cannot build a catapult. To do this, you need to earn a rank by killing 10 (in my opinion) members of the opposite faction. After that, go to the factory, talk to the goblin, he builds you a siege weapon, after which you sit in it (this is automatic). If your side already has a maximum of siege weapons, then you can either wait or launch a melee attack.

The higher your rank, the more powerful siege machines you can build.

By the way, on this moment killing NPCs is also considered. For this reason, do not rush to kill the guards and kill them with the start of the battle.

General Strategy for the Battle of Icegrasp

First of all, ask in the general channel for a party in the raid. With patch 3.2, raids are created automatically. The raid is always more efficient, and the chances of winning the battle are much higher. You also need coordination of raids, otherwise you will get a herd of sheep that rush around the OLO.

For attackers:

Learn tactics from the RL and the objectives of your raid. Try to fill the second rank to get the opportunity to build destroyers and fallout.

Please note that the number of machines is limited, so it is better to refrain from building catapults when attacking the fortress. It is better to build destroyers and siege engines. If you haven't hit rank two yet and can't build them, get someone to build you a car.

Don't run alone. It is more efficient to operate in large groups. For an attack, it is better to first crowd 5-10 siege machines and hit one point.

If your siege weapon is broken, continue hand-to-hand combat. After death, you will take a new siege weapon. This is useful for the team, melee attacks are not much weaker than siege weapons, they just cannot break walls. But enemies and their siege weapons can be broken.

If you didn’t get a car or you can’t build it, go cover the cars. Infantry support is very much needed.

The main task is to get inside the fortress and break the main gate leading to the relic of the titans. After that, you need to check the ball (relic of the titans).

For defenders:

A defensive weapon can be occupied with a zero rank. Therefore, the first thing to do is take a free defensive weapon (cannons on the ledges of the walls).

Shoot at anything that moves and looks like an enemy. Leave your post as a last resort. It happens that at one moment they attack the eastern tower, and then abruptly throw the attack to the unprotected western side. Listen to the chat, and follow the marks on the map if you're lucky with an intelligent leader, then coordinated actions are the key to success.

Also an important task is to break the towers of the attackers. This will reduce the battle time by 10 minutes, and it will be easier to hold the fortress. When capturing the towers, follow south, occupy the factories, build machines and go to destroy the towers.

It is also important to recapture the plants from the attackers. This will reduce the number of their vehicles, and the attacks on the fortress will be weaker.

When defending against infantry, catapults are effective. Throw plague barrels into gaps in the walls, set fire to the infantry.

Why is all this necessary?

The main thing is that it is very interesting! But a small bonus - in one battle you can fill a lot of honor and shards of the guardian. For an honor, you can take a good set. for shards of stones to improve things, recipes for yuvilers (there are a lot of recipes), mounts and much more. In this way, you simply knock out currency for yourself to buy things, while getting a lot of fun. The merchant stands on a mammoth in the fortress. To purchase, you need to have a fortress under your control. For medals from the lake you can buy good PVP epics.

Yes, and it’s better to go to the lake with lvl 80, although lvl 77 players can also play, and being in technology they act no less effectively, it’s just that it will be more difficult to raise the rank.

OLO - Lake of Ice Chains. In WoW, this is an open combat zone located in the center of the Northrend continent. Players will have to capture strategic points, destroy towers and fortresses while driving vehicles, and complete tasks for military leaders. The ultimate goal in playing OLO is:

  • capturing a relic for the attacking side
  • protection of the relic for the defending side

In the battle on the Lake of Icegrass, 120 people can participate from each side. Despite the fact that this is an open PvP zone, in order to join the battle on this one you need to queue up. A battle on OLO starts approximately every 2.5 hours and lasts up to 30 minutes. At the beginning of the battle, one of the sides that currently controls the fortress begins to defend it. Another seeks to capture the fortress. The capture of the fortress is carried out if the enemy breaks through to the relic and captures it. To do this, you need to use bombs or equipment to destroy the walls.

OLO has implemented a system of titles that are obtained for a certain number of kills. A higher rank allows you to get more powerful siege engines and more stamps for winning the battleground. Although it is impossible to organize premades to the full extent on this battlefield, the ability to get into one with the best players will allow you to score quick victories and hone your playing skills.

Tactics at Icegrasp Lake

The tactics on OLO are quite simple: you need to capture military factories as quickly as possible in order to gain access to heavy equipment. At the same time, the attacking side must purposefully break through to the enemy’s fortress, and the defending side must destroy the southern towers in order to minimize the battle time. Skillful tactical moves are rarely obtained due to the difficulty of managing such a mass of players, but especially talented leaders still somehow direct energy in the right direction =).

Icegrasp Lake is the smallest location in Northrend, bordering Sholazar Basin, Dragonblight, and Icecrown. This zone is a PvP location, so PvP mode is automatically enabled for all players in it. This rule does not change anything for PvP server characters, however, for players from RP and Normal worlds, it may seem unusual, although fair. The Icegrass Lake can be accessed using personal flying vehicles, which makes it almost impossible for players below level 77 to access this location; however, low-level characters can still get into the lake using the services of a Warlock or a portal opened in Dalaran.

Preparing for battle
An hour before the start of the battle for the Lake of Frostgrass, a special NPC living in Dalaran (Arcanist Bradin for the Alliance and Magister Surdiel for the Horde) announces the imminent battle. He will repeat his battle call 30, 15, 10 and 5 minutes before the start of the battle to warn all players in Dalaran that access to the Lake will soon be opened. When the battle begins, a portal will open in the Argent Enclave (Alliance) and Sunreaver's Sanctuary (Horde), allowing players to enter the battlefield with ease.

rules

The faction that won the previous battle for Icegrasp Lake defends Icegrasp Keep, while the opposing faction attempts to capture it.
Both factions can destroy or capture towers and goblin workshops scattered throughout the zone. To capture the fortress of the attacking faction, it is necessary to break the walls of the fortress using siege weapons.
After the Icegrasp Fortress is captured, the faction controls it for approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, after which a new battle begins, which lasts until the fortress is captured by the other side, but no more than 30 minutes. The status of Icegrab Lake can be viewed on the map of Northrend. If the battle is not going on, then the Horde or Alliance sign will be drawn on the location, depending on who controls the Lake; if you see a PvP sign, then the battle for Icegrasp Lake is in full swing.
If you want to know how much time is left until the next battle for the Lake, you can either talk to your faction NPC in Dalaran or enter the zone.

Ranks
Upon entering the location, you receive the title of Rookie. After killing 5 players of the opposite faction or 5 NPC guards, you get the rank of Corporal, which allows you to buy Catapults from goblin workshops and control them. After killing 10 players, you gain the rank of First Lieutenant, which allows you to buy and control Demolishers and Siege Engines.
The number of Marks of Honor received in Frostgrasp Lake directly depends on the rank you received during the battle. After patch 3.0.8, you get 1 badge of honor for the rank of Rookie, 2 for the rank of Corporal, and 3 for the rank of First Lieutenant.

Game process
The Battle for Icegrasp is played like a standard siege. The task of the attacking side is to capture the fortress before the battle ends. Defenders need to stop this. After the fortress is captured by the attackers, the battle immediately ends, and control of the fortress passes to the winners.
The attacking side must reach the large orange orb (relic) inside the fortress. One of the players must activate the sphere within 10 seconds (an action similar to capturing the flag on other battlefields). If he manages to do this, then the battle is considered completed in favor of the attackers. Relic activation can be interrupted by dealing damage.
On the way to the relic, the attackers are waiting for 3 walls that they will have to destroy. The first wall runs along the outer perimeter of the fortress: you can break it anywhere, thereby breaking through into one of the three outer courtyards. The outer courtyard at the front of the fortress is empty - only NPCs live there. The east and west outer courts contain goblin workshops supplying machines for the defending side. Next, the attacking side must break into the courtyard, where there are higher-level NPCs. And finally, the last obstacle is the massive gates of the fortress itself. After this barrier is overcome, the attackers gain access to the relic.

towers
The fortress has 4 towers located in the corners formed by the intersection of the walls. The attacking side has 3 towers in the southern part of the location. For each destroyed tower belonging to the attacking side, the defending side receives bonus honor points.
Turrets are installed in the towers, with the help of which players can destroy the players of the opposite faction and their vehicles. These turrets deal massive area of effect (AoE) damage (up to 5000 damage on a good hit) and fire with a short delay, making them great for defense. Turrets can be destroyed by siege engines or players; after a certain period of time they appear again.
Starting with patch 3.0.8, each of the towers belonging to the attacking side gives a buff that adds 5% to all damage dealt; this buff can stack up to 3 times, granting a total of an additional 15% damage. If the defending side destroys the tower, then this bonus passes to it. Such a system was introduced to help the attackers in capturing the fortress, and also to give the defending side an incentive to leave the walls of the fortress.
When all three towers are destroyed, the duration of the battle is reduced by 10 minutes. In most cases, this ends the battle, as by the time the third tower is destroyed, there is usually less than 10 minutes left before the end of the battle.

Goblin workshops
Each faction has 2 workshops that cannot be captured by the enemy. On the defending side, these 2 workshops are located inside the fortress itself; to get out of the fortress, driving a car, you need to use the teleport. On the attacking side, the workshops are located between the three towers in the southern part of the location. They can be destroyed by machines controlled by players of the opposite faction; workshops will not reappear during a battle.
2 more workshops are located closer to the fortress. At the beginning of the battle, they belong to the defending side, but can be captured by the attackers. Capturing workshops is the same as capturing towers in Hellfire Peninsula and Eye of the Storm; the side whose representatives are in the majority near the workshop will eventually capture it. Capturing these workshops not only allows you to build machines closer to the fortress, but also increases the total number of machines available for production. At the moment, these workshops can only be destroyed by representatives of a faction that does not control Frostgrass; if the workshops are under the control of the attacking side, then the defending side cannot destroy them, it can only capture them.

Cars

Icegrasp's defining feature is its siege weapons, which can be used to destroy buildings and towers.
If you want to build a car, you need to get the rank of Corporal or higher (the process for obtaining ranks is described above). After creating a car, any player can control it. Vehicles are crafted in goblin workshops belonging to your faction. These workshops can be captured or destroyed by players of the opposite faction.

The main purpose of creating siege weapons is to destroy objects such as walls, towers and goblin workshops; they can also be used to destroy vehicles controlled by players of the opposite faction. The vehicles have fairly high health points, but they are very poorly armored, which allows them to be destroyed with normal attacks. Often a player without any tools can destroy an enemy vehicle faster than a player operating a turret or other siege vehicle.

Catapults throw barrels of infection along a ballistic trajectory, which, when burst, cause small periodic damage over an area, thereby damaging players, vehicles and structures controlled by them. They can also create a wave of fire that damages players and vehicles they control in a cone in front of the Catapult; buildings are not affected by this attack.
. Destroyers hurl flaming boulders in a ballistic trajectory that deals moderate damage to buildings, players, and vehicles they control. They can also use a ram that deals damage in a cone in front of them to all players, vehicles, and buildings. Destroyer passengers can be attacked, but are able to attack and defend themselves.
. Siege engines also use ramming to deal damage in a cone in front of them, they deal maximum damage to buildings with this attack. They also have a cannon, which is controlled separately by one of the passengers. This cannon fires huge boulders in a ballistic trajectory, dealing high damage. The occupants of the Siege Engine cannot be attacked, but they themselves cannot attack while inside the vehicle.
. Icegrasp Shredder, Icegrasp Destroyer, and Icegrasp Bomber are not currently in the game. Access to these machines may be opened in a future content patch; perhaps they are still there, but they require obtaining a title that is still inaccessible. On January 11, 2009, one of the players posted information received from the GM on the American game forum, according to which these vehicles will definitely not be added in the current patch (3.0.8).

Eyegrass Lake and PvE
Controlling the Icegrasp Lake also affects the PvE component of the game.
When your faction controls the Lake, you will receive Stoneguard Shards from every boss in the Northrend Dungeons. These shards can be used to purchase PvP gear and Jewelcrafting recipes. The faction that controls the Lake also gains access to the raid dungeon - the Crypt of Archavon, located inside the Icegrasp Fortress. Like other raid dungeons, Crypt of Archavon has normal and heroic modes.
In Icegrasp, you can find Northrend ore and herbs, as well as crystallized elements. These elements drop from elementals of a certain type; any type of elemental can be found in the Lake. You can also meet more powerful elementals of each type - Revenants, which are guaranteed to leave 1 element after their death and up to 3 more elements. The afterlife are only visible to members of the faction that controls Icegrab Lake.
In the Lake of Icegrass, the Northern Lotus can also be found in its purest form.

Hidden text

Unfortunately, only half of the players who got into this pvp zone know what it is for and how to win on it, while the rest think that the Lake of Ice Bonds is a pasture where you have to come every 2 and a half hours.

Let's start with the fact that everyone is whining that blizzy boobies have made a pvp location where it's not realistic to play because of terrible lags. Believe me, the close ones are far from boobies, if everyone knows the essence and idea of \u200b\u200bthis pvp zone, then the lags will become many times less.

The battle on the Lake of Ice Chains, as I noted above, takes place every 2 and a half hours, plus or minus 15 minutes. One faction defends the fortress of ice chains, and the relic stored there, the second is trying to recapture the fortress.

There are 4 workshops on the territory of the lake of ice fetters

  • western workshop (31/38)
  • oriental workshop (65/39)
  • workshop in the west of the park (34/68)
  • workshop in the east of the park (66/68)

In the workshops, you need to order combat vehicles to destroy the walls of the fortress.

Each siege weapon requires a certain rank, which each player can get by killing players of a different faction, or guards.

And now the most important thing about the workshops!

Each workshop makes it possible to order 4 cars!
With 2 workshops you can order 8 cars, with 4 you can order 16 cars. What is not less important! It is much harder to repulse an attack from 16 cars than from 8 cars.
From the above, the conclusion follows that Workshops are important strategic objects! And it requires no less attention than the fortress for which everyone is fighting.

Now let's discuss which plants have the most value.

  • The western workshop and the eastern workshop are closer to the fortress, it is much more profitable for the attacking side to create cars there and go from there to destroy the walls.
  • The workshop in the west of the park and the workshop in the east of the park are located in close proximity to the Towers belonging to the attacking side, and it is advantageous for the faction defending the fortress to order siege weapons in these workshops to destroy the towers.

What are these towers for?
If the defending side manages to break all 3 towers, then the time allotted to capture the fortress is reduced by 10 minutes. So the attacking faction must defend these towers.

And from what you read above, it becomes clear that there are 8 points on the map that you need to fight for. The faction that understands this faster begins to win, while the second, following its herd instinct, continues to sit in the fortress, or stand outside at the gate and get stuck in the lags.
So let's start thinking and thinking strategically. Having spread over the territory of the Lake of Ice Bonds, reduce the load on the server, it will become much less lag, and it will be more pleasant to play.

Unfortunately, many of those who play WoW have no idea that you can read a lot of interesting things on the forums. But I am sure that several people will read this article and the herd will thin out.
I have described the most important, but there is still a lot of interesting things that can help win the battle for the Lake of Ice Chains.
