Attractions and areas of PortAventura

The Mediterranean area is designed like a typical Catalan town and is located right at the entrance to the park. Notable among the attractions is the Furius Baco roller coaster, the fastest roller coaster in Europe.

The atmosphere of the “Wild West” is imbued with a cowboy spirit and permeated with American landscapes. Here is the Silver River Flume water attraction, where no one comes out dry; Stampida and Tomahawk are trolley roller coasters, as well as Grand Canyon Rapids, where you can ride a balloon down a roaring mountain river.

Mexico is home to one of Port Aventura's most popular attractions - Hurakan Condor. Where everyone is invited to free fall from a height of 100 meters.

In addition, Hurakan Condor is one of the highest attractions in the world.

Dragon Khan in China boasts eight dead loops and acceleration to 100 km/h. This attraction once held the world record for the largest number dead loops.

"Polynesia" occupies the smallest area of all the theme areas of the park and is represented by less exciting attractions. But the Sesame Street themed area, opened in 2011 for the park’s youngest visitors, is located between “China” and “Polynesia” and includes more than 10 children’s attractions.

The amusement park PortAventura is located in Spain, in the city of Salou, which is located near Barcelona.

It is Spain's most popular family holiday park and resort, welcoming over three million tourists from around the world each year, making it the sixth most visited theme park in Europe. The Port Aventura complex opened in 1995 and now occupies an area of 117 hectares, where there are more than 40 attractions.

In addition to the amusement park itself, the complex includes a huge PortAventura Aquatic water park, several beach clubs and golf courses, four hotels, and a 3-hectare lake on its territory.

The PortAventura amusement park is thematically divided into six zones - “countries” - according to geographical principles, which allows you to present a walk through the park as trip around the world, and visiting the attractions is like an unforgettable adventure along the way. “Countries” in order (from the entrance to the park): Mediterranean, Wild West, Mexico, China, Polynesia and the bright children's country of Sesame. There are many colorful shows taking place on the streets of the park and in theaters - about 90 performances per day.

Attractions PortAventura

Below is information on thematic areas, as well as tickets and prices. Attractions are highlighted in bold.

Mediterranean

The Mediterranean is the first fairy-tale world in Port Aventura, which welcomes visitors to the park with the cozy charm of a Mediterranean fishing village. Most of the souvenir shops, shops, restaurants and cafes are concentrated in this part of the park.

The most popular attraction in the Mediterranean is the horizontal catapult/roller coaster Furius Baco, operating since 2007. For a long time it was the fastest ride in Europe. Today Port Aventura Furius Baco is one of the ten high-speed roller coasters in the world: it accelerates to 135 km/h in 3.5 seconds. There are height restrictions: from 1.4 meters, maximum height is 1.95 meters.

Is it possible to imagine a fishing town without a port? The pier in the Mediterranean has a sonorous name Port de la Drassana, from it boats depart to other countries Port Aventura. Since this method of traveling around the park is very popular, during the first part of the day there are often queues of people wanting to ride. You can also get to other attractions on foot, and such a walk will be no less interesting than a short boat trip.

Not far from the pier there is a restaurant serving Mediterranean cuisine "Racó de Mar", a large selection of national Spanish dishes and wines can be found in the restaurant "Vinosfera Tapes i Vins". Among families with children and those with a sweet tooth, the cafe “Il caffè di Roma” is popular, specializing in fresh pastries and pizza.

Wild West

The most American part of the park is created in the style of the dashing Wild West, as we see it in Westerns and cartoons: everything here is permeated with a cowboy spirit, not only the decorations and attractions, but also the music.

You can play the role of a cowboy by visiting a stylized cowboy saloon, and there you can become a real marksman in the Shooting Gallery: you can choose the type of targets and shoot with pistols.

The ride is interesting with exciting steep climbs, descents and switchbacks. Height restrictions: from 1.2 meters.

"Mine Train" / "Mine Train" (El Diablo-Tren de la Mina)- a roller coaster-type story ride (the train descends into a mine - according to legend, long abandoned and dilapidated in appearance; then the carriages travel through the mines) has a long, interesting and rather calm route, which is not characterized by sudden changes in altitude.

Yucatan Carousel- a bright attraction in the form of a carousel with rotating blades and a dragon's head. Height restrictions: from 1.1 meters, minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Attraction "Feathered Serpent" (Serpiente Emplumada) made in the form of a mythical Serpent, a monster with three rotating arms that forcefully push round boats with passengers off the ground. Height restrictions: from 1.2 meters.

Entertaining attraction "Temple of Fire" (Templo del Fuego) is a well-designed labyrinth of several intricate attractions. Having reached its center, spectators can see an enchanting fire show with impressive and sometimes even frightening effects, such as ceilings falling from above or a collapsing floor. Height restrictions: from 1 meter. You can taste classic Mexican dishes in the cozy La Hacienda restaurant.

China

China in Port Aventura is a bright zone, decorated in the style of Imperial China with the well-known bright attributes of Chinatown, a separate part of this zone is the “Mongolian camp” - children's playground (Area Infantil) with rides and a small carousel. Height restrictions: up to 1.4 meters only.

Three trains from 32 are involved seats, train acceleration is up to 134 km/h. This attraction is the newest and most expensive in Port Aventura, its name and style are a reference to the history of Bhutan, where, according to legend, “Shambhala” is located. The opening of “Shambhala” took place on May 12, 2012, during the first two days of work free fall 15 thousand people managed to experience the attraction.

Attraction "Dragon Khan" has been operating since the opening of the park in 1995, and is one of the most popular among visitors of all ages. This Chinese style roller coaster has interesting route with several ascents and descents, overturns, acceleration - up to 110 km/h. It is recommended to put things in the safe before visiting the attraction that may fall out of pockets or be blown off by air flow, and also wear shoes without backs. Height restrictions: from 1.4 meters.

"Fumanchu"- an attraction with an original design, also known as “Flying Chairs”. Height restrictions: from 1.1 meters.

Carousel "Tea Cups"- at first glance, a cozy and bright children's carousel with cup booths. However, the cups are capable of moving at quite high speeds, and at the same time they can be given a direction of rotation. Height restrictions: from 1.1 meters. Minors must be accompanied by adults.

Chinese cuisine - rice, national delicacies, as well as pancakes for every taste can be tasted in the specialized restaurant "Sichuan".

Polynesia

An exotic country with bright flowers, unusual plants, colorful theatrical shows, the beating of drums heard from everywhere, cozy cafes serving authentic cuisine. And, of course, this part of the park is interesting for its rides - extreme, unusual, and for children.

Attraction "Tutuki" (Tutuki Splash)- a roller coaster with splashes, in the plot of which carriages with visitors fall from the top of a volcano into its crater filled with water at a speed of 50 km/h - just a surge of emotions! Height restrictions: from 1.2 meters. Minors must be accompanied by adults.

Children's roller coaster "Tami-Tami"- a calmer attraction with several flips and high-speed descents. Height restrictions: from 1.10 meters. Minors can only be accompanied by an adult.

Air attraction "Kon-Tiki"- this is a classic wooden ship, similar to the ship of the legendary Kon-Tiki expedition, which studied the migration path of the ancestors of modern Polynesians. The attraction ship swings on thick chains and takes guests into the clouds. Particularly thrilling sensations are guaranteed for those who dare to take seats at the very end of the ship. Height restrictions: from 1.10 meters. Minors can only be accompanied by an adult.

"Sea Odyssey"— an attraction-simulator of scuba diving in a bathyscaphe. The plot of this attraction is very interesting: tourists find themselves in an unusual underwater laboratory, where the guide dolphin Sami introduces them to new research data in the field of oceanography. Contemplation is interrupted by a signal - a request for help from a lost submarine. Guests have the chance to become participants in a sea rescue operation. Height restrictions: from 1 meter. Minors must be accompanied by adults.

Water attraction-trip “Canoe” on a 4-seater canoe - a real adventure for the whole family, in which calm sailing can suddenly give way to falls, splashes and enthusiastic screams. Height restrictions: from 1.40 meters.

Like most theme parks in the world, Port Aventura divided into thematic zones.
There are five main zones - the Mediterranean (Mediterrania), Polynesia, China, Mexico and the Wild West (Far West). They are so stylized that park guests feel as if they are traveling through different countries - each zone differs from the other in buildings, vegetation, cuisine, actors in national clothes, music and souvenirs.
Be sure to take it at the entrance Port Aventura map(unfortunately, a map of the park was not found in Russian at the time of visiting - we hope that someday it will appear).

Let us briefly describe each of the thematic zones.

Mediterranean

Mediterrania is the first zone upon entering the park. It is designed in the style of a coastal fishing town in Catalonia - there is a huge lake in the center, and there are many restaurants and shops around. Fireworks displays take place here during the summer FiestAventura, when the park is open until midnight.

The main attraction that attracts everyone's attention is the high-speed Furius Baco(a catapult that flies horizontally and picks up speed from 0 to 135 km/h in three seconds).

In the Mediterranean is the North Station (Estació del Nord), where you can catch little train, which crosses all zones. Starting from Gare du Nord, you will eventually reach the Wild West.

Polynesia

Polynesia is primarily about water attractions.
Tutuki Splash- a walk through lush Polynesian vegetation, and then a steep descent in a huge boat from the volcano! Even a waterproof raincoat with corporate symbols, which can be purchased at the park. But it doesn’t matter – not far from the exit from Tutuki Splash there are powerful dryers for the whole family (for a fee).

Others are also located here water activities– riding on Canoe And Kon-Tiki Wave(huge swing boat).
In the Polynesian zone don't miss amphitheater where the shows are held. They are delightful! Even if the views are this moment no, a tropical bird trainer and his “pupils” may be waiting for you here

There is also a 4D cinema in this area Sea Odyssey, where several short films are shown. A motion simulator built into the chairs, surround sound, water vapor effects - all this creates a complete picture of a walk around deep sea. Don't miss the entrance to the 4D cinema - it is "disguised" as a cave with plants and palm branches.

China

This is the most attractive place in the park for thrill-seekers - it is here that the most delightful attraction in Europe is located - Shambhala. Attraction Shambhala– these are 5 ascents and falls (without “loops”), the total length is 1650 meters. 3 trains (each with 32 people) can operate simultaneously.
Let's quote the official website - Shambhala in Port Aventura is:
— The most high slides in Europe (76 meters)
— Roller coaster with the longest drop (78 meters)
— The fastest European hypercoaster, it will reach 134 km/h already on the first descent.

And from my own personal impressions, I can add that Shambhala alone is worth visiting Port Aventura because of it. During the ride you will be breathtaking, and afterward you will have a light and pleasant feeling, as if you had been in zero gravity. Or in the Himalayas!

Near Shambhala there is a roller coaster with 8 loops Dragon Khan, even looking like a huge red and blue dragon. From the moment the park opened until Shambhala appeared here in 2012, it held the “palm” in terms of attendance. The speed developed by the train is up to 110 km per hour.
Attention. Even out of season, lines for this roller coaster can be very long.
Also in the Chinese zone there is a children's playground and a Tea Cups carousel/

Mexico

The main attraction of the Mexican part of the park (both in terms of popularity and “visibility”) is the attraction Hurricane Condor. This is a tall (100m) tower, surrounded by the ruins of ancient Aztec and Mayan buildings, covered with mysterious writings. Hurakan Condor itself symbolizes the ritual of sacrifice to the god Hurricane by “dropping” the chosen victim from a great height - people in special chairs rise slowly to the top of the pillar, and then they are quickly and sharply thrown down. We hope that before free fall you will have time to admire the magnificent views of the surrounding area!

Here nearby (at the junction with the Chinese zone) you can take a train ride through an abandoned mine (El Diablo - Tren de la Mina). Somewhere you will be flooded with water, somewhere a rut will collapse... Well, what did you want in the old Mexican mines?

For babies there are entertainments here, such as riding small Mexican horses (Los Potrillos) or the Armadillo carousel (Los Armadillos). For older children - a ritual ride to worship the Feathered Serpent (Serpiente Emplumada) or the Yucatán spinner with the head of a dragon.

Well, if you’re tired, don’t miss the self-service dining room with Mexican cuisine La Cantina, where in a huge hall designed like the square of a provincial town in Mexico you can have a snack and watch a show.

Wild West

The Wild West is the largest area of the park. There are 9 great attractions here:
- water attractions Silver River Flume(travelling down the Silver River in a hollowed-out log, as if you were floating trees from a sawmill) and Grand Canyon Rapids(travelers in round boats race along the clayey banks of the canyon).

- roller coaster Stampida(this is a duel of two teams - at the entrance to the attraction the paths are separated. If you are on vacation with your family, then perhaps you should not divide into 2 teams - the queues are not the same length. And it may turn out that someone will have to skip their turn, waiting, until your “other half” gets to the start).
There are also slides here Tomahawk- he can be called the younger version of Stampida.

— Wild Buffaloes ( Wild Buffalos) and Buffalo Rodeo ( Buffalo Rodeo) - analogues of all the usual “cars”, but in the American style,
— Crazy Barrels and Volpaiute – rotating attractions,
— Carousel is a classic children's entertainment.

SesamoAventura

To the five thematic areas of the park, a new one was added in 2011 - a playground for children, which was called SesamoAventura. Its idea, as the name suggests, is based on the children's series Sesame Street.

There are so many bright carousels and fun rides here that you can spend the whole day with your baby:
Tami-Tami - children's roller coaster)
Elmo's Farm (La Granja de Elmo) – ride on colored tractors,
Blas's Jump (El Salto de Blas) is a children's analogue of the tall Huracan Condor from the Mexican zone. But you will have to raise yourself!
Pilot Coco (Cocopiloto) – colorful airplanes.
Jumping Butterflies (Mariposas Saltarinas) are a fun mix of helicopter and bicycle.
Magic Fish – water attraction
The Magic Tree (El Árbol Mágico) invites you to enter.
The Enchanted Vegetable Garden (El Huerto Encantado) is a children's playground.
Waikiki is a traditional “chain” rotating carousel for children.
Loco-Loco Tiki (Loco - Loco Tiki) - a flying house.
The SesamoAventura train station is also located here, which circulates around the entire park.

Here is a list of height restrictions for children riding accompanied by adults.

No restrictions: La Granja de Elmo, Loco-Loco Tiki, Tea Cups, Cobra Imperial, Crazy Barrels, Carrousel, Wild Buffalos, Los Potrillos.
1 meter limit: Tomahawk, Sea Odyssey, Tami-Tami, Cocopiloto, Silver River Flume, Templo del Fuego.
Limit 1.05 m: Mariposas Saltarinos
Limit 1.10 m: El Salto de Blas, El Diablo, Grand Canyon Rapids
Limit 1.20 m: Tutuki Splash, Magic Fish
Limit 1.30 m: Kon-Tiki Wave, Yucatan, Volpaiute

I would also like to say that on all the most “sharp” attractions there are video cameras installed that take pictures of screaming and screaming people. Having ridden the attraction, the tourist can see finished photographs at the exit and purchase them for 7-8 euros as a keepsake of sincere emotions.

Just an hour and a half from Barcelona (or maybe a little more) and not far from the city of Salou (15 minutes by bus) there is a magnificent amusement park called Port Aventura. Attractions for every taste for children and adults are presented in five theme parks. The idea was that you could find yourself in five parts of the world in a short time.

Each park has appropriate music, themed shows and national cuisine. Since 2011 there has been new country or the Sesamo Aventura themed area. Surely there will be people who will compare Port Aventura with Disneyland Paris. However, this is not so, each park is unique in its own way and each has its own zest, although many argue that Port Aventura has much more drive and attractions for adults, Disneyland is calmer and more humane. I’ll try to tell and show you what a Spanish amusement park is like and some of its attractions.

The main entrance to PortAventura Park. The most convenient way to get here is from the city of Salou by bus, which says "Port-Aventura". This is the final stop.

Attraction "Furious Bako". One of the most popular attractions of the Mediterranean Park, this is where your acquaintance with the park begins. This attraction is the fastest in Europe. This entertainment area has many cafes and all kinds of souvenir shops. I just don’t advise you to start your walk around Port Aventura from a cafe, because... Ahead of you are such attractions that it is better to ride on an empty stomach. In the summer, a laser show is shown in the Mediterranean Park in the evening.

The next theme park is Imperial China. Here is the coolest and most “squealing” attraction in Europe - a roller coaster and they are called “Dragon Khan”. This attraction is listed in the Guinness Book of Records. For extreme sports lovers, this is what you need. Before riding Dragon Khan, you need to empty all your things from your pockets, otherwise you won’t find them later - they will scatter throughout the park. For this purpose, there are special lockers nearby, similar to storage lockers. The soap bubble show will make a special impression on you; many visitors even visit it twice, it is such an amazing spectacle.

Red, this is the "Dragon Khan" attraction, light-colored slides, this is "Shambola". "Shambola" was opened in 2012. Its height is 76 meters, its flight speed is almost 140 km/h.

Attraction "Furious Bako" in Port Aventura. You sit down in a chair and they shoot you at the speed of a bullet flying out of a gun and instantly you fall down, then sharply to the right and left, then in a loop. All this happens at lightning speed.

Under the guide of this attraction there is a net stretched into which shoes, sneakers, glasses, handbags, etc. fly out. One grandfather who decided to ride with us lost his false jaw. He then tried to return it, asked the park workers to get it, but they explained to him that all “lost” things are taken out of the net only at the end of the working day. I don’t know how they separated, but the attraction continued to operate without stopping.

An equally interesting and screeching attraction in Porta Aventura is riding on round rafts along a mountain river. The funny thing is that at every turn you will find either a stream of cold water, or a waterfall, or shooting at you from water cannons. At the end of the ride, you find yourself wet down to your underpants, at least. At the exit there is a dryer the size of a man, so it’s possible to dry clothes if you want. True, the dryer is paid, 2 euros.

Sliding down water slides. This is Port Aventura's most humane attraction. But you won’t be able to stay dry either.

Then we head to the Wild West park, which has nine attractions. Here you are greeted by cowboys, Indians and everything that you associate with the Wild West: all kinds of shooting games and stunts on horseback. There is a small can-can show in the cowboy saloon, but to watch it you need to order some food or drinks.

Quieter and more relaxing attractions, of which there are two, are located in Polynesia Park, where you find yourself in the palm thickets of the Hawaiian Islands. This is a real Bounty Island with waterfalls, tropical forests, and a show of parrots and ostriches. You and your children will certainly be interested in the Sea Odyssey cinema, located in a stylized submarine. It shows 4-D films on a marine theme, simulating, for example, deep diving.

Show in the Polynesia zone.

4-D cinema "Sea Odyssey". In general, nothing special. If you dropped out of a 3D cinema, then you definitely won’t like this attraction and won’t make an impression. Primitive graphics through stereo glasses simulate the passage of an underwater bathyscaphe through a cartoonish underwater world.

At the entrance of the "Sea Odyssey" attraction.

The tall tower is visible from almost anywhere in Parque Aventura. It is located in the Mexico Park. This attraction is called “Hurricane Condor”. You are lifted to a height of 100 meters, the chair hangs for a few seconds, you admire the stunning panorama and suddenly... a free fall from a dizzying height. You feel adrenaline flowing out of you. My heart really sinks somewhere into my heels, my breath stops and I have one thought in my head: why did I need this?

One of the coolest attractions in Port Aventura "Condor", video.

Thus, the park has six thematic zones: Mediterranean, China, Polynesia, Wild West, Mexico and SesamoAventura.

Attraction theme park"Sesame", based on the children's show "Sesame Street". There are only 11 attractions here, mostly for the little ones.

You can walk around Aventura Park, or take a train or boat along the canals. If it's hot, this will be very convenient. For water attractions, it is better to buy raincoats, which are sold here, otherwise you will get wet, and this is not very comfortable, especially in the late afternoon.
Unfortunately, there are huge queues for each attraction, so it is important to time your stay in the park. The waiting time is written before entering the attraction on a board with chalk. Most of the visitors to the attractions are Spanish schoolchildren, nodding, shouting and pushing. Therefore, while standing in line, be patient.

"Magic Tree". You can climb on it. This is probably very interesting for children.

If you are very hot, then you can cool yourself off with water from an ordinary bucket like this.

The train runs around the park. But he walks very slowly.

Of course, it’s better to come here in the morning, preferably before opening. In addition to the existing attractions, each zone hosts a colorful performance, which is also desirable to see, especially the evening performances, when everything is illuminated with original multi-colored spotlights and lanterns.
Ordinary admission ticket in Port Aventura for one adult it costs 45 euros, a child ticket is 39 euros. But, there are express tickets at twice the price, which give you the right to visit attractions without queuing. Express ticket "PortAventura Express Max" (in the form of a ticket), sold at the box office. PortAventura Express Premium tickets come as a wristband.

On all attractions, cameras are installed that photograph the most unexpected and emotional moments, and then you can look at yourself on the monitor and buy your photo (for 7 euros) or print it on a T-shirt or mug.
The park is open only during the tourist season, i.e. from April to October from 10.00. During the high season, the opening hours of Aventura Park are extended to 24.00.
How to get to Porta Aventura from Barcelona.
There is another way to get to Port Aventura on your own. To do this, you can use the train, which goes in the direction of Tarragona and Tortosa from the Sant Andreu Comtal station. After Tortosa station, the next stop is yours. It is more convenient to buy train tickets there and back. Moreover, it is better to buy tickets to the Park itself on the spot, and not in advance through the Port Aventura website. However, who cares. In front of the box office you can pick up a book with the schedule of all shows and their locations. Unfortunately, there is no booklet in Russian. There are no age restrictions for children, but there are height restrictions, i.e. Your child's height for some attractions should not be less than 1.40.
Have a nice holiday.
