Air dampers with heated rectangular cross-section Arktos (SVK-NS) are designed to regulate air flow or shut off air ducts. Arktos SVK-NS dampers are designed for installation on the air intake or exhaust and have tubular electric heaters (TEHs) in each joint of the rotary blinds to heat the joints in the event of possible icing of the valve and freezing of the blinds. Heated air valves are installed in low-pressure ventilation systems (with a pressure difference of up to 1500 Pa). Body parts and blinds are made of galvanized steel sheets. All valve versions are equipped with blind rotation units made of materials that ensure operation of the product at temperatures from -60ºС to + 40ºС (the bushings are made of brass, the axles are made of carbon steel with zinc coating).

The standard size range of Arktos heated air valves consists of 24 valves, each of which can be manufactured in the following versions: SVK-NS in the basic version is supplied without a drive (manual or electric), with a universal platform for the drive (manual or electric). In this case, a terminal box is installed on the valve for connecting heating elements. SVK-NS + R with manual drive is supplied with an installed platform for the drive and a drive handle. A terminal box with connection of heating elements is also installed. SVK-NS K + DRIVE TYPE is supplied complete with an electric drive installed in an insulated casing. This ensures operation of the electric drive at a minimum valve operating temperature of up to - 60ºС.

The casing is a box-shaped structure made of galvanized steel sheet with the internal walls coated with thermal insulating material and a self-regulating heating cable placed inside. Cable supply voltage 230 V, power consumption 40 W. The Arktos air valve is equipped with a terminal box in which the heating elements of the valve, the heating element of the valve drive, and the electric drive itself are switched. SVK-NS K is supplied only with an insulated casing without an electric drive. In this case, the drive type is not indicated in the designation. Maximum height drive mounted in an insulated casing is 85 mm. The production of heated air valves is possible with two body thicknesses of 160 and 220 mm; in the latter case, the blinds do not protrude beyond the dimensions of the valve.

Arktos valves of standard sizes 1000x2400, 1400x1800, 1400x2400 are equipped with two drive mechanisms. It should be taken into account that installing an electric drive on the valve (without additional insulation elements for the drive) reduces the lower limit of the valve operation, which in this case is determined by the lower permissible operating temperature of the drive. When installing a manual drive on the valve, the operating range remains the same - 60ºС to + 40ºС. By special order, it is possible to manufacture valves for other sizes of the ventilation duct. The maximum valve height (dimension “B”) is 2400 mm, the maximum valve length (dimension “A”) is 2500 mm. It should be taken into account that air dampers of rectangular cross-section with dimensions on side “A” of over 1400 mm consist of two identical sections and are equipped with two drives.

Operating conditions of the air valve with heated rectangular cross-section Arktos SVK-NS

The design of the Arktos air valve ensures the functionality of the latter when operating in conditions of a temperate (U) and moderately cold climate (UCL) with placement category 2, 3, 4, 5 according to GOST 15150-69 (see table).

Characteristics of climatic versions of valves with rectangular section heating Arktos

When operating Arktos air valves, the presence in the air of substances that are aggressive towards carbon steels (acids, alkalis), flammable substances, dust and other solid impurities in an amount of more than 100 mg/m3, as well as sticky substances and fibrous materials (resins, technical fibers). The heated air valve is opened manually or remotely using an electric drive. Product protection degree – IP44 according to GOST 14254-96. For proper operation of the SVK-NS air valve, equipped with an electric drive, the control automation (in the control cabinet) must provide the following operating algorithm: before opening the valve, the heating elements are turned on for 20 minutes (the time interval is implemented automatically); after 20 minutes, the valve drive is turned on and the heating elements are subsequently turned off. For the SVK-NS valve with an insulated electric actuator casing, a permanent connection for heating the actuator must be provided at ambient temperatures below -25°C.

Installation of a rectangular-section heated valve SVK-NS

Installation of the Arktos valve in the air duct is carried out using bolted connections. Sections of air ducts where the air valve is installed must be accessible for maintenance and repair. When installing the valve, ensure access to the drive unit. The valve remains operational regardless of spatial orientation. To make the electrical connection, a splash-proof terminal box is installed on the end surface of the housing. Air valves SVK-NS comply with the safety requirements of GOST 12.2.003-91. Protection class I according to GOST 12.2.007.0-87. The air valve must be grounded in accordance with GOST 12.1.030. In terms of fire safety, air valves comply with the requirements of GOST 12.1.004.

SVK-NS dampers from the Russian plant Arktos are intended for use in rectangular air ducts and are designed for regions with cold climates. The devices are installed in low pressure ventilation.

Design features and types of valves

The valve is made in a rectangular body, inside of which rotating blinds are installed. Tubular-type electric heaters are located at each joint of the blinds. If the blinds freeze, they heat up the fastening points. As a result, the valve can perform its functions at temperatures down to -60ºС.

The valves are produced in 24 standard sizes and are supplied in the following options:

  • SVK-NS - basic configuration without drive. It has a universal platform for the drive and a terminal box for connecting heaters.
  • SVK-NS + R - equipped with a manual drive, a platform for the drive, a drive handle and a terminal box
  • SVK-NS + electric drive - the kit includes an electric drive in a warm casing.

Features of operation of heated air valves:

  • before opening the valve, it is necessary to turn on the electric heaters for 10-15 minutes
  • after warming up, the electric heaters turn off and the valve drive turns on

SVK-NS valves are produced in the following names: 300x150U, 500x250U, 500x300U, 600x250U, 600x350U, 700x400U, 800x500U, 1000x500U

Heated air valves with rectangular cross-section SVK-NS are designed for use in regions with cold climates. The purpose of SVK-NS valves is to regulate air flow or shut off air channels.

Structurally, the SVK-NS valve is a rectangular body, inside of which rotating blinds are mounted and, at each joint of the blinds, tubular electric heaters (TEHs) are designed to heat the joints in the event of possible icing of the valve and freezing of the blinds. Thus, the operability of the valve is ensured at outdoor temperatures down to -60°C (moderate (U) and moderately cold climates (MCC) with placement category 2, 3, 4, 5 according to GOST 15150-69).
When designing an automation system, it is necessary to provide for the following operating algorithm in winter:

  • before opening the valve, the heating elements are turned on for 10-15 minutes;
  • After this time, the valve drive is turned on, followed by the heating elements being turned off.

SVK-NS valves are supplied with a universal platform for installing an electric or manual drive. The valve is equipped with a terminal box for connecting heating elements. The valve is installed to the air duct using bolted connections. The valves remain operational and can be operated regardless of their spatial orientation.
