Where to buy KIN cryptocurrency. Currency of Papua New Guinea History of the Kina of Papua New Guinea, useful information for tourists

Kin cryptocurrency is a new development from the team that created the Kik messenger. The coin is intended to be used within the platform as a means of reward for created content, as well as payment for goods and services.

Buying Kin on cryptocurrency exchanges

A cryptocurrency exchange is an online platform where cryptoassets are traded, similar to traditional exchanges. Trading operations are carried out in cryptocurrency or real money. After registering on the exchange, the service provides tools for trading and analysis. To start trading on the exchange, you need to register an account and top up your deposit with cryptocurrency or fiat.

In terms of daily trading volume, Kin is now in 92nd place.

List of exchanges where you can buy Kin

  • Mercatox is a cryptocurrency exchange that offers two trading options: cryptocurrency/cryptocurrency and cryptocurrency/electronic money. Kin cannot be purchased for fiat money on this site, only for Bitcoin and Ether. The commission for trading on the exchange is 0.25% of the transaction amount. Deposits and withdrawals are subject to fees and vary for each currency. Payment for Kin transfer is 10,000 Kin, you can withdraw a minimum of 50,000 Kin.

On the one hand, Kin is a new cryptocurrency that appeared in June 2017. On the other hand, this currency was created on the basis of a well-known and long-running project. It is too early to say anything about the profitability of investments. The sharp rise in price of cryptocurrency at the end of December 2017, followed by a subsequent decrease in price to the original level, raises doubts. Very similar to a “pump”.

If you have already visited many places and want your next trip to be unforgettable and exotic, then you should definitely go to Papua New Guinea. But it’s worth noting right away, despite the fact that this resort is open to tourists all year round, the ideal time to visit the southern direction is from January to March or July to August, and in the remaining months you can relax in its northern part.

The bulk of tourists come here, of course, for the sake of diving, since the underwater world of this region is truly enchanting. The local fauna includes over 900 species of fish and about 400 species of coral reefs.

Origin of the state and its name

The lands of Papua New Guinea were first inhabited 45-60 thousand years ago, when the sea level was so low that the island was one with the neighboring islands and Australia. Presumably the very first sites here were discovered 49 thousand years ago.

Before the territory of Papua New Guinea became a European colony, it was inhabited by Papuans and Melanesians who lived under Stone Age conditions.

The state was discovered in 1526 thanks to a Portuguese navigator named Jorge de Menezes. As for the name, it was given to these lands by the Spanish navigator Inigo Ortiz de Retes, and this happened in 1545 due to the fact that Inigo saw similarities between the local population and the population of African Guinea.

Geographical location

Papua New Guinea is located in the western Pacific Ocean near the equator, north of Australia. The state occupies the eastern part of New Guinea, is washed by the Pacific Ocean and several seas: Arafura, Coral, Solomon, New Guinea.

Papua New Guinea shares land borders with Indonesia and sea borders with Australia, the Solomon Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia and Nauru.

Climate

The climate of Papua New Guinea is tropical and predominantly humid. Temperatures vary slightly throughout the year. On average, the thermometer rises to +26 degrees. The country has a dry season and a rainy season. Hot climatic conditions can be traced only in coastal areas. Mountainous areas tend to have a lot of rainfall and lower temperatures.

Population

As of 2010, the population of Papua New Guinea was estimated at 6.1 million people. If we talk about the ethno-racial composition, the following nationalities live on the territory of the state: Papuans, Negritos, Polynesians, Melanesians and Micronesians.

State-political structure

The form of government of Papua New Guinea is a constitutional monarchy. The head of state is Queen Elizabeth II, who is represented locally by the Governor-General, who is appointed directly by her and chosen by the Parliament of Papua.

The local parliament is unicameral and has a total of 109 seats. Most of the members of parliament, namely 89 people, are elected by the population every 5 years, the remaining 20 are appointed from the provinces.

Currency

The national currency of Papua New Guinea is the kina.

Religion, culture and customs

According to official data, over 70% of the local population are Christians: 22% are Catholics, 16% are Lutherans, 40% are Protestants. But still, the overwhelming majority of locals, mainly living in the central regions of the state, adhere to traditional animist beliefs.

Local residents are famous for making handicrafts, in particular Gogodal baskets, battle shields, minja, cult hooks and others.

Also, art, dance, music, songs, architecture, costumes and weapons play a special role in the life of the local population. So, during each holiday, the indigenous people sing songs, dance and have meals. It is during such traditional events that you can see the beautiful colorful outfits of the local population.

National cuisine

In Papua New Guinea, there is perhaps no single national style in local cuisine. There is a mixture of traditions of the peoples of Oceania and Southeast Asia. The basis of local cuisine is made up of various root vegetables, such as colocasia, kaukau sweet potatoes and yams, grains, and meat products.

Most restaurants, hotels and village resorts serve Asian and European dishes. These are mostly simple but satisfying dishes. It is worth trying a delicacy called “mumu”, which is pork with potatoes, rice and herbs, which is baked in an earthen oven; “bugandi” - soup with egg; “Bally Beef” - fried beef with rice; "Hula" - fried crab meat with taro.

It is also customary to serve fried breadfruit and a wide variety of salads to the table. Sorogo, yams, cassava sago and even rice, which is not so acceptable for the region, are very often prepared as a side dish.

As for desserts, the main ingredients in them are a variety of fruits. So, it’s worth trying “dia” - sago and banana in coconut cream; "kaukau" - baked sweet potatoes; “saksak” - sago pies; “talautu” - pineapple in coconut cream and much more.

People here drink a lot of coffee called “muli-vara” and a variety of juices from local fruits. Alcohol is not prohibited here and you can buy it almost anywhere. Most of the spirits are supplied here from China, Chile, New Zealand and Australia.

Banking and currency exchange

Most large banks are open from Monday to Thursday, from 08.45-9.00 to 15.00, on Fridays - from 08.45-9.00 to 16.00.

Currency can be exchanged at bank offices, as well as at their branches at the airport, hotels and shopping centers. You can also exchange currency in private exchange offices, where the exchange rate is somewhat more favorable, and they usually do not charge any commission for the exchange (banks charge a commission of 0.2-1% of the amount). Current currency exchange rates must be posted in banks and hotels, and also published in all central newspapers.

Most major establishments in the capital accept major international credit cards for payment (American Express has the widest service network, and major banks, restaurants and hotels also accept Visa transactions without any problems). ATMs can only be found in Port Moresby, but using them is almost impossible without a local bank account. It is extremely difficult to use credit cards in the provinces.

Travel checks can be cashed at bank offices in most major cities. However, there are few branches working with them, so there are usually long queues. To avoid additional costs associated with exchange rate fluctuations, it is recommended to bring checks in US dollars or in pounds sterling or Australian dollars (some banks charge a fee of up to $5 for cashing checks).

In remote areas, only cash local currency is accepted for payment, and there is a clear shortage of small bills, which should be stocked up in advance.

Price level

In cities, almost all hotels and restaurants are relatively expensive - budget hotels charge about $20-50 per day for their services with a level of comfort comparable to European hostels, mid-price hotels - $40-60 and above, upscale accommodation - $80 and above, Moreover, many of them do not even reach the “3 star” level. Please note that most hotels require reservations in advance.

However, outside the city limits the price level drops sharply - here you can stay in a private boarding house for almost $3-7 per day or bargain with the owner of a motel or lodge for $7-15 per day. And if you can negotiate accommodation in a private house (in many villages guests are accommodated in schools or even in police departments), then this will cost a maximum of $5 per day, and the same level of cuisine can be provided as in many private boarding houses.

However, in this case, you should leave the hosts a little money ($3-15 for the entire period of stay) for their hospitality, not forgetting, however, to arrange this not as a tip or gift, but as a payment for some additional services. There are numerous guest houses in the mountainous areas (especially common in the Sepik region), which can only be reached by air or jeep.

VAT and tax-free

All hotel, restaurant and bar accounts are subject to a 10% Business Tax (VAT/GST) which is normally included in all rates.

The Independent State of Papua New Guinea is a state in Oceania, in the southwestern part of the Pacific Ocean, occupies the eastern part of the island of New Guinea, the Bismarck Archipelago, the northern part of the Solomon Islands (Bougainville, Buka Islands), D'Entrecasteaux Islands, archipelago Louisiada (Long Reef, Tagula, Russell and others), as well as more than 200 other small islands and reefs.

In the north it is washed by the waters of the Pacific Ocean, in the northeast by the New Guinea Sea, in the east by the Solomon Sea, and in the south by the Coral and Arafura seas. It borders Indonesia to the west, the Solomon Islands to the east and Australia to the south.

The island of New Guinea and most of the country's other islands have mountainous terrain. The altitude of a significant part of the territory is more than 1000 m above sea level, and some peaks of New Guinea reach 4500 m, that is, the belt of eternal snow. There are 18 active volcanoes in Papua New Guinea.

The main problems in the country are fraud, petty street crime and theft from cars. A certain inconvenience is represented by local policemen, whose main concern, it seems, is the desire to swindle as much money out of tourists as possible.

All water should be considered potentially unfit for consumption, especially during the first days on the islands.
Damage to the skin poses a separate danger - even minor scratches and skin irritations in the local climate can turn into a fairly serious problem.

The waters around the islands are home to several species of sharks and many poisonous sea creatures.

Please note that the given exchange rate for Papua New Guinea kina to the ruble is not the bank’s selling or buying rate for currency. We present the average market rate, which is the average value between purchase and sale. When planning your trip to any country, you can roughly predict possible expenses and calculate the amount of money needed for the trip. But it is worth keeping in mind that the real Papua New Guinea kina rate at the country's exchange offices will differ slightly from the one given here, because the markup when buying or selling will be set by the specific bank or exchange office you contact.

History of the Kina Papua New Guinea, useful information for tourists

The national currency of Papua New Guinea is the kina. They have the international letter designation PGK, and the symbol “K”. Kina is divided into 100 toya. The name of this currency is translated from the local language as “payment for food.” The territory of the country was colonized by Germany and later by Britain. Thus, during the years of colonization by the Germans, the local population used German marks as money. With the arrival of the British colonies in the country, stamps were replaced by English pounds sterling. In addition to these currencies, the Australian pound was also in circulation in Papua New Guinea, since 1906 and since 1914. In 1929, special penny and shilling coins were introduced for the Territory of New Guinea. The Japanese occupation did not pass without a trace, and during its time a special pound was introduced in the country. At the end of the Second World War, the Australian pound will be returned to Papua New Guinea. The national currency, the kina, will be put into circulation only in 1975, after the state gains its long-awaited independence. By January 1976, the Australian dollar will lose its solvency in the territory of independent Papua New Guinea. In April 2007, the 1 and 2 toya coins were withdrawn from circulation. Currently in circulation are coins in denominations of 5, 10, 20 and 50 toya, as well as 1 and 2 kina. Among paper money, banknotes from different years are used, starting from 1999. These are banknotes in denominations of 2 kina, 5, 10, 20 kina, 50 and 100. The design of the banknotes is interesting, colorful and contains a variety of images telling about the traditions and heritage of the people of Papua New Guinea.
