The airport was opened in 1913. It was this year in Bremen that the Senate approved official permission to operate the flight base. 80 years ago, airplanes were not a reliable method of transportation. Our route to Bremen lay, as usual, from Tampere. The Tampere-Bremen plane was scheduled to arrive at 11:05, the Bremen-Barcelona plane at 17:00. Thanks to the Internet and those who had already visited Bremen before us, a plan was drawn up, scheduled almost to the minute. But as usually happens, changes began to be made to the plans immediately. It wasn’t even the Germans who started doing this, but the Finns, and the Germans continued.
The thing is that in Tampere we were not able to get through with hand luggage. The bags were small (strictly Ryanair size), but heavy, and the vigilant Finns sent us to be weighed and baggage checked. Everything would be fine, but once you checked in your luggage, it means you have to get it, and this takes time. True, thanks to the efficiency of Ryanair, the loss of time here was minimal. The plane, as often happens, arrived ahead of schedule and at 11-15 we were already receiving our luggage. In the Rainair baggage claim area we were greeted by the Bremen Town Musicians, not personally of course, but in the form of a nice sculptural group.
What is needed first of all for an arriving transit passenger who wants to maximum benefit manage your time between flights? Well, the toilet, this goes without saying, thank God there are no problems with this anywhere in Europe. Another problem arose - at Bremen airport WE COULD NOT FIND THE LUGGAGE STORAGE! This must be kept in mind when planning your affairs. It took us about half an hour to figure out this unfortunate fact and the need to come to terms with it.
As a result of half an hour of running around the terminal, we finally found out that the nearest luggage storage rooms are located at a distance of 15-20 minutes by tram, namely at the Bremen railway station. This was stated to us in a rather boorish manner by a nasty lady in the information window. We encountered such rudeness only for the second time during our already quite numerous travels around Europe. The previous incident was a year ago in Nice and I thought that rudeness in Europe is characteristic only of the French. It turned out not. It's unpleasant to write about this, but... okay. Next, our path lay to the tram stop.

On our second flight through Bremen on a New Year's trip in 2010-2011, we spent the night in Bremen twice. I wanted to see the city in more detail. We spent two nights in two different hotels, both were beyond praise and I want to write about each in more detail.
Prizeotel Bremen-City, Bremen.
This hotel is listed as a design hotel on Booking.com, but don't be put off by that. The hotel actually has 127 rooms decorated in a stylish and original way. Our room had free Wi-Fi, a large flat-screen TV and a designer bathroom equipped with a hydromassage shower. Each room at the Prizeotel Bremen-City is also equipped with air conditioning, a king-size bed and an iPhone/iPod docking station designed as a table lamp. There is also a walk-in closet or luggage rack. It looks like we had the second option, since the only feature of the room design that we didn’t like was the lack of a wardrobe in the usual sense. The hotel is completely non-smoking. I can’t say anything about breakfast, we didn’t take it.
Based on the sum of factors, the declared status of the hotel is TWO STARS, which does not exactly correspond to its actual status; it is at least an order of magnitude higher! As for the price, the room was advertised for €109.0, but it cost us a discount for €64.0
Despite the strange point that a request for a hotel address on Google map, in fact, it is located very well. Theodor-Heuss-Allee street is behind railway station, parallel to the direction of the tracks. But as in others European cities, the presence of the station does not affect anything, except for the pleasant fact that the walk to the hotel is only 5-10 minutes. On the way from the station to the hotel there is a shopping area (in the passage under the railway tracks) as well as a popular grocery store ALDI, and almost opposite, a 5-minute walk is located sports complex Bremen - Arena.
We stayed at this hotel on the way THERE, i.e. arrived, took tram number 6 and got off at the railway station. station, then into the passage under the railway. way and now we are already at the goal. True, due to the Christmas load and the early arrival of the plane from Tampere, early check-in at the hotel did not work out (check-in at 14-00), but we were kindly greeted, our luggage was taken for storage and we felt in every possible way that we were welcome. Holiday Hotel Inn Express Bremen Airport Superior was chosen by us for the return trip, primarily because of its location, a five-minute walk with things from the Ryanair terminal. Because the Ryanair flight Bremen - Tampere starts at 6:30 and other places to spend the night are fraught with an even earlier rise and additional costs for transport (taxi). In addition, the hotel periodically issues special offers, in our case the price was €79,20 for a double room with breakfast.
The room was equipped to its stated FOUR STARS, everything was clean, tidy, the beds had the right number of pillows, the bathroom had the right number of towels, etc. The hotel also has its own style and design, which is clearly manifested in the overall harmony of colors, as well as in the interesting lighting both in the room itself and in the bathroom. The walls of the corridors and halls are decorated with paintings on aviation themes. Our room had two beds, but they didn't have to be pushed together - each on its own is wide enough for two people who want to be closer to each other. The Internet is free, but at the reception you still need to remember to ask for the password. In addition to the usual equipment, the room was equipped with a small electric kettle and a small set for it: instant coffee, tea, sugar. Germans, unlike Finns, do not have Russian channels, or rather Russian-language ones, in the public domain.
We had an early check-in; we were allowed into our room at about 10:30, which was quite opportune for people who were slightly exhausted from the previous 10-hour bus journey from Prague. If you go to the hotel from the city side, for example by tram number 6, then you need to get off at the penultimate stop; from the last one at the main terminal the walk will be longer and further.
For air passengers, there is a monitor at the reception that broadcasts a list of departing flights, which is very convenient. And of course, an early breakfast (from 4-00 am) cannot but please those who have a flight at 6-00 or 6-30. Breakfast is quite modest in terms of assortment, but the quality of the offer is beyond praise.
