Excursion and art programs

Over the many years of existence of winter excursion and art programs that are held in Kolomenskoye, they have become popular with several generations of Moscow schoolchildren. The protected historical territory, which houses unique architectural monuments, including temples, in these programs become platforms where a conversation takes place about an event that is an integral part of the world cultural heritage - the Nativity of Christ. Sitting comfortably near one of the nativity scenes (each of them is handmade), children at the “Christmas in Kolomenskoye” program remember or learn for the first time about the events that took place in the city of Bethlehem more than two thousand years ago. And in order to consolidate the acquired knowledge, they become glorifiers, go to a folklore festival and take a direct part in it. Over the past year alone, in December, this program was visited by 110 excursion groups or 3,630 people.

No less popular are the interactive programs “Winter for the frosts, and a man for the holidays” and “Russian winter”. Both of them include not only informative excursions, fun interactive performances, but also rare for Moscow horse-drawn sleigh rides. The program “Winter for Frosts...” takes place on the territory of the Ethnographic Complex. In 2016, 3,036 schoolchildren (92 groups) took part in this program. The venue for the Russian Winter program was the Palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich. In this program, we accepted 5,280 people (160 groups) last year.

In 2017, along with the already mentioned interactive programs, museum staff prepared a new program, “Christmas in the Tsar’s Palace.” Its excursion part will take place at the exhibition “Treasures of Russian Art of the 17th Century” in the Palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich. For the first time, we will invite the children to play the characters of the nativity scene, which will allow them to feel the atmosphere and meaning of the Christmas night even more deeply.

Master classes

Many residents and guests of the capital say that you can get to an amazing place without leaving Moscow. They all talk with admiration about Kolomensky Park. It is one of the most popular recreation areas.

Location and opening hours

Many Muscovites and guests of the capital go to Kolomensky Park simply to admire nature and relax. It is located in the same place as the metro station of the same name. Therefore, even guests of the capital can easily reach it. All you have to do is go down the subway and find out how to get to the Kolomenskaya metro station.

Every evening you can see a stream of people walking towards the park. And it is located at: Andropov Avenue, 39. The park welcomes guests daily from 8.00 to 22.00 in the summer (from April to the end of October) and from 8.00 to 21.00 in all other months. The exhibitions can be visited daily, except Mondays, from 10.00 to 18.00.

Main attractions

Everyone who has ever been there speaks with interest about this place. Many people visit it again, because there is always something to see there. Kolomna Park is no less beautiful in winter than in summer. In spring, the air is filled with the aromas of blossoming apple trees and linden trees; in autumn, the park is decorated in colorful variegated tones. There is no point in talking about the delights of this natural area in the summer: green lawns, trees, ponds, and three gardens attract the attention of many.

But natural beauty is not all that Kolomna Park can interest. Moscow is filled with various cultural and historical monuments, but analogues to this zone are difficult to find.

Here are the palace of Alexei Mikhailovich, the house of Peter I, the Church of the Ascension of the Lord, the bell tower of St. George the Victorious, the Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, the Church of the Beheading of John the Baptist, the front Palace and rear Spassky Gates, the famous anomalous place - Golosov Ravine, the tree of happiness, a round pond. In addition, the park offers views of the Moscow River, there are ponds, numerous flower beds and gardens.

Popular place

In addition to the fact that Kolomensky Park itself is a landmark of the capital, it serves as a venue for various events and folk festivals. It annually organizes exhibitions of sand sculptures and various concerts. Maslenitsa celebrations take place here.

On the territory of the park there is an ethnographic complex, which included buildings common to Russian villages: a stable, a mill, a forge, an apiary and other household premises. The organizers hold folklore performances, stylized national celebrations, horse riding and walks along the Moscow River.

You can view the park from a boat; several water routes run along its territory.

In winter, many are attracted by the slides in Kolomensky Park. Natural hills covered with snow become excellent slopes along which you can slide down on a sled or cheesecake. The latter, by the way, can be rented right on the spot.

Organization of a walk

If you want to see all the sights in one day, then you should think about organizing a route in advance. The fact is that even those people who walk there quite often discover new unexplored places every time. The Kolomna Park plan will help you figure it out. All the sights are visible on it. Everyone can figure out how to find objects of interest. So, leaving the subway at the metro station of the same name, you can immediately see the domes of the palace belonging to Alexei Mikhailovich. It's easy to get into as soon as you enter the park. Everyone can go on a tour to this palace.

From here you can follow a small path to Dyakov Ravine. This is one of the natural monuments of the park. The Dyakov apple orchard is also located nearby. It is also worth going to the observation deck, which offers views of the Moscow River and the capital. It is interesting to look at the wooden cross with an inscription in Old Church Slavonic, saying that it is worth bowing to the land of your ancestors and remembering them.

Walking along the paths, you can find a pond, bypassing which you will find stairs leading to Golosov Ravine. It contains the famous Devin-stone and Gus-stone.

After crossing the ravine, you can go to a stone staircase leading to the right slope. She will lead you to the Church of John the Baptist. You can also get to the Church of the Ascension through the ravine. Nearby is the belfry of St. George the Victorious. There is also another ancient monument there - a water-cocking tower. Since the middle of the 17th century, thanks to a mechanism installed in it, water was supplied to the palace from the river.

It is also worth visiting the buildings located on Voznesenskaya Square. These are the Nourishing Courtyard, the Prikaz and Colonel's Chambers, and the Palace Gate.

The only building that has survived from the times of the Alexander Palace is the pavilion of 1825. The entrance to it is decorated with stone lions. From the palace gates you can go to the Church of Our Lady of Kazan. Don't be afraid that you will get tired or hungry; cafes are everywhere in Kolomensky Park. Everyone can have a snack right on the street in the “Apple Orchard” tent, a tent on the Moskva River embankment, or a tent near the palace of Tsar Alexei. In addition, there are many tents and stalls in the park where you can buy something to eat.

Other attractions

These temples, palaces, chambers, and towers are recommended to be visited by everyone who has ever been to Kolomensky Park. But this is far from a complete list of all attractions. The area of Kolomna Park is so large that it is almost impossible to get around it all in one day.

You can stroll through the linden park. Behind it is an apple orchard. After passing it, you can get to the fairground. Even now you can buy nuts, honey, various antiques, and themed souvenirs there. After passing through the territory where the fair is located, you will find yourself at an exhibition of sand figures. Craftsmen make them during the May holidays, and you can come and admire them all summer long.

Going even further, you can see a monument of temple-building architecture - this is the Church of St. George the Victorious, dating back to the 17th century. It was erected in the Arkhangelsk region, and it was transported to Kolomenskoye in the twentieth century. The temple belongs to the Museum of Wooden Architecture. Its exhibits also include the Holy Gate of the monastery, called Nikolo-Karelsky, the Mokhovaya Tower of the Sumy fortress, and the tower of the Bratsk fortress.

It is also worth visiting the wooden temple erected in honor of the icon of the Kazan Mother of God, the nearby house of Peter I and the monument to this emperor.

Also, after passing through another apple orchard, you can get to the oak alley. Some claim that the trees there are over 500 years old. Many people are also interested in the stone slabs left over from the feeding and grain yards. Not far from them there is a chapel pillar moved from Tsaritsino and a border sign - Borisov Stone. The Spassky Gate also stands there, with Streletsky guardhouses on either side of it. If you have time, you can visit the Atrium hall, where exhibitions on historical topics are held.

You can exit the recreation area onto Andropov Avenue. There are numerous restaurants located there. There are also plenty of places where you can have a snack in Kolomensky Park, but many people prefer to eat after finishing their walk. Outside the park, you can go to the establishments “Babochka”, “Zabiyaki”, “Bryusoff”, “Emelya” or choose another cafe to suit your taste.

History of the area

Many people are interested in the reserve due to the fact that as a result of archaeological excavations it was established that already in the first millennium BC. e. people lived on its territory. The first written memories of this place date back to the first half of the 14th century.

The Church of the Ascension of the Lord, restored in our time, was erected there back in 1532. And from the 16th century Kolomenskoye became the residence of the tsars.

The museum-reserve on the territory of the park was opened in 1923. At the same time, wooden buildings from various parts of Russia began to be transported here.

Palace of Alexei Mikhailovich

One of the most popular places is the Kolomna royal residence. It was changed under Alexei Mikhailovich in the 17th century, and after that foreigners called it the eighth wonder of the world. The palace was richly decorated and aroused the admiration of everyone who saw it. Subsequently, this residence was visited by Tsars Ivan and Peter, as well as Princess Sofya Alekseevna. But by the middle of the 18th century it was abandoned, and in 1767 it was dismantled, leaving only a wooden model kept in the museum.

At the end of the twentieth century, the idea of reconstruction was supported by the Moscow government. Currently, the park houses a life-size model of the palace. While the reconstruction work began, Kolomensky Park had already been formed - oaks and linden trees had grown on the former territory of the residence. Therefore, the decision was made to move the location.

The interior decoration of the premises gives an idea of what the interiors were like during the reign of the Romanovs. In the halls there are objects that were previously stored in the funds of the museum-reserve.

Golosov ravine

But it’s not only historical monuments and temples that attract tourists. Many people want to visit Golosovo ravine. It is there that the famous Maiden Stone and Goose Stone are located. The weight of each of them exceeds 4-5 tons, and their outlines are very bizarre. Near them, the electromagnetic field is 27 times higher than normal.

The place is known for the fact that people have disappeared there more than once. It is believed that they fall into a rift in time and space. In addition, many claim that the Maiden Stone, located in the ravine, which resembles a turtle in outline, heals various organs. Women used to visit him for infertility treatment.
