Faroe Islands visa for Belarusians. Required papers and procedure for obtaining a visa to the Faroe Islands

I am writing for those who may find this useful.

The Faroe Islands belong to Denmark, but are not included in Schengen. Accordingly, neither a Schengen nor even a Danish visa is enough to visit them - you need to get a separate one, a Faroese one. True, there will still be no one to check it - there is no border control on the islands. That is, everyone who arrives at the port or arrives by plane can immediately go to the city without checking documents. In general, you can easily do without a visa. True, it’s like traveling without a ticket: you can buy a ticket and drive calmly, or you can save a little and stress the whole way. I don’t want to strain myself at all, and I’ve already become accustomed to complying with all the formalities, so I’ll have to collect the standard set of documents again and take them to the Danish visa center.

And then, looking at the website of the Danish Exhibition Center, I find out: Russian citizens who apply for a tourist visa other than through an accredited travel agency should be aware that their visa applications may be forwarded to the Danish (Icelandic) Immigration Service for further review and decision, which takes between three and eight weeks. However, the Danish Embassy in Moscow cannot guarantee the applicant will receive a positive decision on his application for a tourist visa.

Look, give them a travel agency!

Three to eight weeks, you know.

I look on the Internet, and there is such a thing written about Danish visas - it’s terrible. They say one of the most difficult Schengen visas, many refusals, they take months to process, horror, horror, horror. Then we talked with the visa center staff, and everything became a little clearer. If over the last three years you have not had a single Schengen visa, then yes, indeed, the documents are sent to Denmark, the immigration service checks them there, wait at least a month, and 80% of refusals are returned from there. But if your passport contains at least one fresh visa to a Schengen country, then all decisions will be made in Moscow, and the review period will be reduced to eight working days. Well, failures are less likely here.

I thought and thought, why should I be afraid of an open Spanish cartoon? I have to serve it. Moreover, it was funny to fill out a standard Schengen form, indicating in the fields “date of entry into Schengen” not the date of entry into Schengen, but the date of entry from Schengen to the islands. And with departure it’s the same, everything is the other way around.

I collected the documents, took them, and waited. Moreover, he served it during the May holidays - everyone was resting, and they were working.

The next day there was a call from the consulate: they found a typo in the yacht charter documents. Okay, let's change it. And they want to see the insurance so that it says “Valid for Faroe Islands”, otherwise Alpha Bank’s “Valid worldwide”, you see, does not suit them. Damn, go argue with them now! Yes, it’s easier to make another one for an extra 500 rubles. By the way, it needs to be done with an overlap of 15 days after the departure date. Well, I changed it, what?

The next day my passport was ready. They gave me a visa, and on a standard Schengen form.

And not only for me, but also for ten other participants in our trip. Everything was ok, not a single refusal, everything was done quickly, literally in a couple of days. Moreover, several people asked not only the Faroe Islands, but also the usual Danish Schengen at the same time, since they did not have an open visa to get to Norway to board the yacht. The Danes scratched their heads a little (why they came to them and not to Norway), but they still gave us a visa. And to the Faroe Islands and Denmark.

At the same time, some of our people still don’t have a visa, they just didn’t have time to apply on time. So a little intrigue remains.

Visa processing time at the consulate from 5 working days.

Traveling with children

To obtain a visa for a child under 18 years of age, a copy of his birth certificate and a copy of a notarized consent to the removal of the child from the remaining parent/parents are required. A separate visa application form must also be filled out for the child and a full package of documents must be attached. If a child is traveling unaccompanied (for example, going to study), it is necessary to provide a copy of a notarized power of attorney from both parents for the child to cross the border independently.

If one of the parents has died, been deprived of parental rights, gone missing, or his whereabouts are unknown and communication with the family is not maintained, it is necessary to provide the relevant documents: a death certificate (copy) or a certificate from the police, or a single mother’s book (and her copy).

The import of fresh food products without vacuum packaging is prohibited.

The Faroe Islands are a popular tourist destination in great demand. Despite belonging to Denmark, the islands are not part of the Schengen zone. In view of this, Russians need a visa document to visit the region.

Registration procedure

To obtain a visa, a citizen must apply to one of the Danish diplomatic institutions. Documents must be submitted no less than 14 days before the date of entry. Similar requirements apply to Belarusians, Ukrainians and citizens of other CIS countries.

Required Documentation

A standard visa to the Faroe Islands is issued after submitting the following official documents to the visa center:

  • International passport.
  • Photos in the amount of 2 pieces, measuring 3.5x4.5 cm.
  • A copy of the passport of a Russian citizen.
  • A completed application form.
  • Certificate from the employer confirming official employment.
  • A document confirming your hotel reservation.
  • Insurance.

It must be remembered that the passport must contain at least 2 blank pages. In some cases, you will need to provide return plane tickets to obtain a permit.

Traveling with a child

To obtain a visa to visit the resort for children, you must provide a copy of the child’s birth certificate to the visa center. In cases where minors are accompanied by one of the parents, it is mandatory to have a notarized travel agreement from the other partner.

If a child visits the islands accompanied by third parties (not parents), an agreement from both parents must be provided to obtain an entry document. The exception is situations in which one or both parents are absent, deprived of rights to the child, or are in an unknown location. At the same time, supporting documents are presented.

Duration of registration

Review of the application form and verification of the applicant’s papers, as a rule, last from 8 to 10 working days. An increase in the preparation period is possible if the islands' immigration service is involved in the process. In this case, the registration period increases to 60 days. Transit and business visa documents are prepared within 5 working days.

In most cases, documentation is subject to verification by the immigration service, especially if the tourist does not use the services of an operator or agency, but travels independently. At the same time, the likelihood of refusal to obtain an entry certificate increases.

Validity periods

The period for which a visa remains valid depends on its type. Conventionally, entry documents are divided into short-term and long-term.

The first include:

  • Transit visa. Available to persons for whom the Faroe Islands is not their final destination. The duration of the visa is 5 days. At the same time, passengers are prohibited from leaving the transit zone.
  • Tourist visa. Issued to persons whose purpose of visiting is to explore cultural and historical sights, get acquainted with local flavor, participate in national festivals and other events. The permitted length of stay corresponds to the length of the hotel reservation period.
  • Guest room. Provided to persons for the purpose of visiting friends or relatives who are Danish citizens. An invitation document is required for entry. It, among other information about the visit of a foreign guest, indicates the duration of his stay in the Faroe Islands.

Long-term visas to the Faroe Islands for Russians also include business ones. They are provided to persons whose purpose of visiting is employment under a contract or training in local educational institutions. The duration of the entry document directly depends on the terms of the contract.

Insurance

To visit the Faroe Islands, the guest must have an insurance policy. This is especially true for persons applying for a multiple-entry visa. At subsequent visits, you must provide a certified certificate of medical insurance.

Primary requirements:

  • The insurance policy is valid in the Faroe Islands and Schengen countries.
  • If an urgent return home is necessary, the policy fully covers the tourist’s expenses.
  • The validity period of the policy is 15 days longer than the time spent on the islands.
  • The insurance coverage provided by the policy is a minimum of 30,000 euros.
