The official opening of the Moscow-Vladimir railway section took place on June 14, 1861. Then two trains began running between the cities. One departed from Moksva at twelve o’clock, the other from Vladimir at fourteen o’clock.

On August 2, 1862, a section of the railway from Vladimir to Nizhny Novgorod was opened for traffic.

With the construction of the road and the start of work at the station, the first railway workers appeared in Vladimir, who always supported revolutionary ideas.

On September 12, 1918, a party cell of 47 people was organized at Vladimir station. They repaired locomotives, carriages, and railway tracks. Therefore, in the first days after the October Revolution, they found themselves among the most active participants in the construction of the new state.

During the Great Patriotic War, the station also lived very tensely. People often worked around the clock.

After the war, in 1961, the electrification of the road was completed; since 1971, the Moscow-Petushki and Petushki-Vladimir electric trains, which were glorified by Venedikt Erofeev, ran along it.

In 1975, a new station was built. It is spacious and decorated with white stone, thereby reminding that Vladimir is the capital of white stone architecture.

Since 2009, the high-speed Sapsan has been flying through Vladimir. Now everyone has become accustomed to it, but at the beginning of the route’s launch there were fears that it would significantly disrupt passenger traffic between Moscow and Vladimir. Fortunately, this did not happen...
