Complejo Puntarena Playa Caleta – Reviews. Complejo Puntarena Playa Caleta – Reviews Beach and pools

I went to Cuba in June 2012. We arrived in Varadero early in the morning, the flight (13 hours from Moscow), plus the time zone change, was very tiring, I wanted to get to the hotel and fall asleep. The hotel (four stars) is located a 30-minute drive from the airport, from a distance it very much resembles an ordinary high-rise building: a seven-story rectangular building with balconies on each floor. We checked in quickly, I got a room with an ocean view, and no one asked for any additional payment. The hotel staff took things to the room, for which they received 1 Cuban dollar. The room was located on the 4th floor, it was quite spacious and clean, however, the furniture was quite old, but all intact. The room had: a large bed, a wardrobe, a bedside table, a TV, a minibar, a safe (for a fee), a balcony with an armchair, curtains. The bathroom is combined. The bath is large and beautifully finished in marble. There were towels, soap, and tubes of shampoo. So, I really wanted to rest, but I still went out onto the balcony and instantly there was no trace of fatigue left, I was immediately struck by the amazing view of the morning ocean, the smell of sea water, I just stood and looked at it... And then another thing happened small miracle. They brought coffee. Authentic Cuban black brewed coffee and sweets. I have never tasted a tastier drink in my life. Standing on the balcony with a cup of coffee, I simply fell in love with this country. I gave the Cuban woman who brought the coffee 1 Cuban dollar and since then they brought coffee to my room every day, plus they always cleaned it cleanly, folded towels and blankets in an interesting way, sometimes in the form of flowers, sometimes in the form of a crane, each time in a new way. And I left a tip every morning. On the second floor of the hotel there was a 24-hour lobby bar, where local drinks were offered free of charge. The hotel also had a restaurant, cafe, disco, and fitness center (gym). Among the special features, there was a fire escape leading to the roof of the hotel, which was forbidden to walk on unless necessary, but I went up, the view is amazing!

There is a beautiful park area on the hotel grounds, with a lot of vegetation in general. Orchids grow everywhere (one might say like weeds), many different flowers, plants with large leaves, mainly coconut trees.

There are two swimming pools on the territory. Decent and clean. Near the pools there are sun loungers, umbrellas, a cafe and a bar.

The beach is sandy, clean, cleaned regularly. (First line hotel). The water is magnificent, clean and crystal! There are also sun loungers, umbrellas (free), and a catamaran (free) on the shore. The hotel staff strives to provide any assistance to the tourist (but it is highly advisable to pay a tip; the staff tends not to notice those who do not pay). There is also a bar on the beach where they make chic cocktails. The top of the coconut (coconut fruit) is cut off, rum is poured into the nut, a straw is inserted and the cocktail is ready. They also offer paid excursions (diving) on the beach.

The food, in my opinion, is excellent. Three meals a day are provided (buffet), always plenty of fruits, seafood, eggs, rice. In addition, you can eat in the restaurant. The menu is about the same, but waiters serve.

There is internet, but not of very good quality. The connection worked, but roaming was crazy (1 SMS - about 100 rubles)

Animators. The biggest minus of the hotel is the animation. They are almost impossible to find. We never made it to Spanish class. It was canceled twice for various reasons (the microphone didn’t work, or something else).

There are many excursions. We were in Havana, rode in mini jeeps, went to a crocodile farm, and also to a wish-granting tree, swam at night in the moonlit path. A separate excursion was to the slums of Havana. Unforgettable, creepy. We were even warned in advance not to wear gold jewelry.

In general, the opinion about the hotel is not bad. It was a little annoying that almost all employees expected financial rewards for the most insignificant work. But the bar staff also offered to buy rum and cigarettes at low prices.

We arrived in Cuba on November 26 for two weeks. We stayed at the Playa Caleta hotel. The complex consists of two identical buildings (only different in wall color). We arrived at the hotel early in the morning and checked in around one o'clock in the afternoon. The weather was great, we swam, drank coffee, and ate delicious hamburgers at the pool bar before breakfast. The night was long, it only began to get light around six; by the way, it got dark early too; around six in the evening it was already night. The evenings were sometimes cool, but it never came to warm clothes. There was no rain at all, although in Varadero itself it rained heavily once, but briefly. It is no coincidence that I am writing in such detail about the weather; I myself searched on the Internet for reviews of tourists who vacationed in November-December. The ocean is very warm, transparent, this is generally the best thing about Varadero. It stormed several timesthe wind was quite strong, but we swam every day. We lived on the sixth floor in a corner room overlooking the canal. Quiet (sometimes you can hear passing cars), the view of the canal is wonderful! The room is quite spacious, the bed is comfortable, the bed linen is clean, everything worked properly. We have already written about cleaning, it is very arbitrary, they will make swans out of towels for chocolate, but we were more interested in a clean floor. But in general, the hotel area and buildings are clean. A very interesting and incomprehensible system in bars. In one they serve coffee until seven in the morning, and then for tea and coffee on the second floor, but there are no hamburgers, in the other there are hamburgers, but there are no drinks. The bars operate on a schedule that we never learned. In the Puntarena building there are night discos, and in the evening there is live music in the bar on the first floor (but then the performances were moved to another building on the second floor, and the main reception was opened there). The beach was just excellent for us, a little shell rock mixed with sand. Someone complained that the beach is dirty, there is algae, and tourists don’t always clean up after themselves (but this is rare!, thanks to everyone who doesn’t be a jerk!). Sometimes we saw cleaners on the beach, leisurely doing something. A lifeguard stands on the roof of the Puntarena building and looks out at the sea; all lifeguards on the beach have walkie-talkies with them. A couple of times people were burned by the harmful Portuguese man-of-war jellyfish, rescuers reacted instantly, ran up to the victim and took him to the doctors. After the storm, there were a lot of Portuguese ships scattered all over the coast. The hotel is quite far from the center of Varadero. But we like to walk, this was not a big problem for us, sometimes we used the free bus, which actually does not accommodate everyone who wants to go. We went on an excursion to Havana and made an agreement via WhatsApp with a Cuban guide. On a tourist bus in Varadero, they wrote about it here. We got off at the stop where the national. Park, we paid 5 kuk for the entrance, and went along the eco-trail, we liked it! (But sneakers are a must!) About the restaurants (there is one of them in the building), both are the same, in our opinion. Normal food, nothing special, but we were always full, the ice cream was delicious, there was a lot of fruit, we didn’t like the pineapples, but we ate papaya and goava with pleasure. Don't be discouraged, and everything will be wonderful! Travel! Our vacation was a success!

The complex consists of 2 buildings: Playa Caleta and Puntarena. They are settling in Puntarena - Caleta in chronic overhaul. When we checked in, we didn’t pay anything extra for a nice room, gave the manager a set of cosmetics (samples from Letual), and got a view of the ocean, 3rd floor. We visited on the 7th floor - a completely different, simply fabulous view. BUT, the elevators work like crazy... That's why we didn't regret that we settled on the 3rd. Along the side stairs up and down... They clean the rooms without straining, even if you put a souvenir. The humidity is high, everything dries poorly, you need to take several swimsuits so as not to pull on wet ones. There is no Internet in the rooms. The reception was paid and slow, so we had a complete break from civilization. About the food at the hotel: what surprised me was that I expected more fruit, but there wasn’t any (in such variety as in Thailand and Vietnam). I was hoping to get some vitamins for the winter, but it didn’t work out! The safe in the room is free, it can be opened with the room key - we did not dare to put anything valuable in it, as the maids have universal keys for all rooms (and, accordingly, for the safes). Money was changed at the airport (in a hurry, not really knowing what the cookies looked like - of course, they ended up with a certain amount), and at the hotel the exchange rate was the same.
Puntarena is on the very edge of Varadero, if you are going to walk around the resort, then it is 4-5 km to the center. In principle, the promenade is useful. Another thing is that it gets dark early in the evenings, it’s scary in the dark! We walked around the immediate surroundings on foot, but didn’t go far... During the day, due to the heat, sun and humidity, there was no time for walking - I wish I could find some shade! In principle, the Varadero resort area is closed to locals; there is a checkpoint at the entrance to the resort. But nevertheless, not far from the hotel, Cubans and pelicans were fishing, to the envy of our fishermen. And in Varadero itself there are houses, in the cat. Cubans live. There they organize private hotels in Casa Particulara, renting out several rooms to savage tourists. When they receive a license for their small business, the state issues them additional food coupons to feed tourists. There are many shops with souvenirs, of course, they will be cheaper in Havana. If you buy mugs, key rings, etc. in state stores, the prices are the same everywhere. Be sure to count the purchase amount yourself and count the change - they cheat everywhere, even by a penny.. Even in a state store, when reading barcodes, they will cheat you! Be sure to visit Havana - I just fell in love with the city! Yes, I had to go for 2-3 days - walk along the embankment, sit on the boulevards, get lost in the old city, in small streets... Wonderful architecture, old dilapidated houses in which people live. There is no money for restoration - have time to see, until everything fell apart. I regret that we didn’t travel around Cuba at all. We didn’t go to Cienfuegos, to the islands, to waterfalls, to the mountains... I punctured my leg (I climbed to take a photo of a lizard in the bushes), and rode on one for almost the entire vacation. Spare no expense - you can negotiate with a local guide for a small group - many speak and understand Russian - (not with tour operator guides) and travel around the country. Be sure to take bottles of water with you! Not from the tap. Of course, antiseptic wipes. Take cosmetics, varnish, perfume as souvenirs for the locals, I even read somewhere in the reviews - bring tights to Cubans. I’m thinking, why wear tights in the shade at 35 degrees?? The Cubans themselves are very colorful, especially elegant in tourist areas. They brought home cigars, rum, maracas (I don’t know why). Interesting pictures, but what I liked and was worth a lot... I didn’t take. I bring sand from the beach from every country. There are small bottles of sand - it is so different in color from different seas!!

immediately upon arriving at the hotel I wanted to drop everything and rush back home) we were terribly upset. the hotel is still not 4 , not even 3, so hard 2))) but after being on the island we realized that by the standards of Cuba this is a full-fledged 4 . We talked on excursions with people from other hotels and it was either even sadder or the same, but at the same time people paid much more for the trip. Therefore, if you love Cuba, then this hotel is the ideal combination of price and quality. but after a trip to the Dominican Republic, everything here seemed gloomy and sad. everything in Cuba, and in this hotel in particular, revolves around tips. nothing can be done without a cookie (local currency. We were told that it is necessary to change it, but no. It’s not necessary. And excursions and rum and tips can all be bought perfectly in euros and dollars, you can only buy the Internet in cookies, but for this at the reception the exchanger is enough) I won’t write about Cuba itself, everything is subjective. the ocean is beautiful, but it is stormy and there is always wind. By the end of the vacation my ears were hurting. about the hotel itself - algae live in the pool. in 11 days, 3 days it did not work at all. They are in no hurry to wash or drain the water. Just sprinkle as much bleach as possible. the bar in the lobby is open around the clock, they will pour you rum and 7 am for breakfast))) but absolutely everything is bad!!! and rum and beer and juices and drinks. At first it’s unbearable, but after 3 days you get used to it. the plates on the buffet are frankly dirty, everything tasty is swept away at once and rarely is more added. but there is always an abundance of rice, beans, beets and cabbage. but on the plus side there is always a ton of ice cream. not great, but very normal. The room stock is falling apart like the entire hotel. the elevators don't work. ask for floors 1-2, in fact it will be 3-4, since 1-2 are the lobby and restaurants. There will be a view and you won’t be tired of walking. for a view of the ocean they can ask for 10 euros per day, we didn’t even bother, we had no plans to sit in the room, and the view of the canal is very pleasant, but the wind blows from the ocean, it’s noisy with the windows closed))) oh, on the side The hotel is a huge construction site, but don't be alarmed. Everything in the country is state-owned, hotel construction sites do not belong to the people, so no one is in a hurry to build anything. Cubans are such lethargic people that something is actually being done there an hour or two a day and you don’t hear it. The beach itself is simply huge! a lot of seagulls and pelicans, very cool communication birds. but the ocean is active, there are often waves. no one cleans up the algae (((a lifeguard will pass by at most once a day and collect as much large garbage as he can handle (maximum bottles or cups) there are only enough sunbeds if there are waves, if the ocean is calm, then after 9 am you can’t find a sunbed) but you can come at lunchtime and there will always be free sun loungers, since only our compatriots have the habit of taking up places with towels (and there are about 40% of them in the hotel) and calmly leave with their things for lunch. By the way, in this hotel, besides Canadians, almost all the rest are Russians (%10-15 other nationalities), and ours behave disgustingly in restaurants. crowds and queues are created everywhere. They grab everything they see even if they physically cannot eat it. but this happens, unfortunately, in many places. in general, you should go to this hotel only if you have no money. but I really want to go to Cuba.

We spent a wonderful two weeks at this hotel. We were pleased with everything here: from the staff to the beach. Everyone is very friendly and will always help if you need anything. The gorgeous view of the ocean from the room was a delight to the eye every morning. I would especially like to mention the restaurant. The cooks are simply gods of cooking! They manage to make incredibly tasty dishes from completely ordinary and familiar products. In general, the service here is truly excellent. We will definitely come here again.

After visiting this hotel, I fell in love with Cuba definitely and irrevocably) Despite the long flight, arriving at the hotel immediately invigorated me: a huge park with an incredible number of orchids! The hotel has good conditions, two swimming pools. The rooms are excellent, with ocean views. Guests are offered three meals a day with plenty of fruit and seafood. There is internet on site, although it is not of very high quality. Mobile communications are very expensive. The number of excursions is also worthy of praise. We were constantly taken somewhere)

A good hotel for a holiday with family or friends. Hotel on 3 . The food is average compared to the Dominican Republic. Although you can always find something to eat. There is no variety, you don’t always have time for pancakes at breakfast, and even when you stand in line, they give you a second pancake with such a look that it becomes creepy. The big minus is, of course, the slowness of the staff, complete unfriendliness. This spoiled the holiday a little. The rooms are average, nothing special, the safe did not work. There is no iron even at the reception, you can only give it to the laundry for money. One of the advantages of the beach is that it is big enough and you can always find a place, but for the last week we haven’t swam in the ocean because... there was strong wind and waves. The downside is the pools, which were so dirty that I couldn’t swim in them, it was somehow scary. Be sure to sign up for ala carte restaurants. With the exception of fish, all the rest are 5+. You can eat delicious food there. One of the advantages is also the location, because... the hotel is not far from the center of Varadero and can be reached on foot. In general, for your money it’s not bad for a break from the hustle and bustle =)

What was shocking was the number of our compatriots who were always drunk, the incredible queues in the restaurant and the amount of food they took.
The condition of the hotel leaves much to be desired, it seems that the last renovation there was not in 2013, as stated in the description, but in 1983. The ocean is excellent, the beach is huge, there is enough space for everyone. We would return to Cuba, but definitely not to this hotel.

In principle, my friend and I liked Louis Colossos. Check-in went quite quickly. The apartments are excellent, have everything you need for a great holiday and even more. The food was simply excellent. A huge number of dishes, each of which is tasty and interesting in its own way. There is a grill bar on site. We had lunch there a couple of times, the young guys start frying chicken in the morning, so there is enough of this deliciousness for everyone. We also liked the MURAMURA Chinese food tent; it’s true that it’s not open every day, but the food is so finger-licking good. Lunch was most often held in an open-air restaurant; the first course was usually pureed soup, and the third course was meat and fish. It was a very pleasant surprise that there was always an abundance of fruit on the tables (peaches, apples, watermelon). And for fast food lovers there are even French fries and pizza. We really are more for healthy eating, so we haven’t tried them. We were lucky with the weather, it was perfect without a single cloud. We'll be back again!

I vacationed this summer with my grandson. We really liked the boarding house. The hotel employees are very nice and attentive people, they helped us deal with all the issues that were unclear to us. because We are not very good at speaking English, but the employees speak Russian very well. The location of the boarding house is quite good, there are markets, a couple of fur salons and a large shopping center nearby. In my opinion, there is everything you need and what you might need at the resort. We took a sightseeing tour of the island of Rhodes and the city. We also visited the ruins in the city of Cameros, my grandson really liked it. Our vacation was a great success and we took a lot of photos.

Our holiday in Greece was great! For this, special thanks to the hotel staff for their hospitality and cordiality. I vacationed with my husband in August. They marked us very successfully, although at first we thought it was unlucky, because... the room was located directly above the stage where all the evening shows were held, but as it turned out, the parties continued until 10 p.m., and then there was perfect silence. It was nice to go out onto the balcony in the evenings, sit down and listen to the sound of the sea surf. The territory of Louis Kolossos Beach is not very large, but the sea is literally a minute’s walk away. The sea, of course, is beyond praise, simply incredibly clean, we went up to our necks and saw our toes. Regarding the entrance, it is better to the right of the pier, there are no stones (small pebbles). We didn't take sun loungers, so I can't say anything about them. We prefer to sunbathe on the sand, so we took towels and lay down near the sea. They cleaned well and efficiently, we have no complaints about this. True, the towels were not always replaced, but we reminded them and they replaced everything for us. The hotel staff speaks excellent Russian, which was a pleasant surprise, because... My husband and I don’t speak English very well. I really liked the fact that the employees treat all nations equally politely and helpfully, they always try to fulfill all the wishes of the guests and make their stay even more comfortable. As a result, we are satisfied with our vacation, we will be in these parts, we will only stay at this hotel.

Briefly about the hotel - it’s good. We went in July with my wife and daughter (5 years old). The rooms are good, very cozy inside. The food is delicious and filling. What impressed me most was the animation. The children's program was held until 20.30, and the adult program after 21.00. The animated shows are simply brilliant, our daughter was delighted, at times they couldn’t force her to go to the sea, she didn’t want to tear her away from the animators. Every Friday they held Greek evenings, which I would recommend to all vacationers to attend. Get simply colossal aesthetic pleasure from traditional music and fiery dances! An unforgettable holiday for everyone.

In Varadero, the communist paradise built in Cuba has cracked. This resort is the most bourgeois-decaying part of Liberty Island. There is everything here, even golf courses - the only ones in the country. The beaches of Varadero are an endless strip of white sand stretching beyond the horizon. On the sea side, the coast is reliably covered by the largest in the Caribbean. Thanks to it, the water here is very warm, without waves and dangerous inhabitants.

Varadero is chosen by families with children because of the gentle slope into the sea, young people - for fun parties and discos, and American pensioners - for the highest level of service and services. The hotels in this resort are mostly represented by global chains, predominantly Spanish: Barcelo, Sol Melia, Iberostar. Many hotels in recent years have begun to practice the All Inclusive system. This article is dedicated to the Bellevue Puntarena Playa Caleta Resort. Read below about how to relax in this hotel.

Tours to Cuba: what you need to know about them

Despite the similarity in ideology, Russian tourists discovered Cuba relatively recently: five to ten years ago. And until now, only the richest of our compatriots have set foot on the Island that defeated the revolution. Yes, trips to Cuba cannot be called budget. But this is solely due to the high cost of a transatlantic flight. Therefore, if you have a dream to see the mausoleum of Comandante Che Guevara, smoke a personally rolled cigar, lie on the snow-white beaches of Varadero and drink coffee in a bar where Hemingway himself visited, you need to know some tricks.

Firstly, when should you go to Cuba? The climate on Liberty Island has only two seasons: high and so-called wet. But daily rains do not mean round-the-clock downpours. Precipitation lasts for a maximum of two hours, and it does not in any way affect the temperature of the air and water.

Secondly, you need to constantly monitor airline stocks. It is during the rainy season that you can most often catch tempting offers.

And thirdly, travel with children. Often hotels accommodate and feed young guests under the age of twelve for free. And this is very economical. A typical seven days in a three-, four- or five-star All Inclusive hotel, including air travel and transfer to the hotel, starts at forty thousand rubles per person.

Resort Features

The Bellevue Puntarena Playa Caleta Resort 4* hotel is located a thirty-minute walk from the center of Varadero. By the way, water surrounds the hotel on two sides: on one side is the ocean, and on the other is the Paso de Malo canal.

What is Varadero famous for? First of all, its beaches. The sand in this part is like flour of the highest quality and grinding. Plus, there are palm trees and other exotic plants on the shore. Another feature of Varadero is the coral reefs. They protect the coast from waves and attract divers like a magnet. Therefore, the main contingent of tourists at the resort are young guys of athletic appearance. To give divers something to do after sunset, Varadero has many discos and nightclubs. Snow-white beaches and a gentle slope into a calm, lake-like sea also attract families with small children. Many hotels in Varadero are on the first line and offer all-inclusive meals.

Territory

The Puntarena Playa Caleta Resort 4* hotel is a seven-story building. It was built a long time ago, but in 2005 it was completely reconstructed in accordance with modern standards. Back then the hotel was simply called Playa Caleta. Now the hotel has acquired a second twin building, which is called “Puntarena”. Between them there is a huge swimming pool, tropical garden paths, and a bar. The hotel area, as reviews say, is large, like a country hotel. The buildings themselves have a lot of greenery. You feel like you are living in the jungle, and not in a seven-story building. In addition, the hotel has a good location. On all excursions, tourists are picked up from it last and brought in first. A free bus runs from the hotel to the center of Varadero. There is a lighthouse next to the hotel. Pelicans like to gather there in the evenings. The birds are almost tamed by tourists who feed them fish.

Guest rooms

For an additional fee at the reception in the Bellevue Puntarena Playa Caleta Resort 4* buildings you will be given a room with an ocean view. But this is not necessary, the reviews say, since the second half of the rooms also overlook the water, only the bay. The rooms may seem cramped (especially the triples), but that is the style of Cuba. Each room has its own balcony.

The bathroom is equipped with a shower and a hairdryer. Technical equipment includes a TV with satellite channels, air conditioning, a safe and a minibar. If you leave a tip, they will clean up very diligently and weave all sorts of shapes out of towels. But even without financial incentives, linen and towels are changed every day. There are no divisions into room categories in the hotel. Soundproofing in the rooms is good.

Nutrition

Those tourists who ordered “All inclusive” claim that this program operates around the clock. This means that you can practically not leave bars and restaurants. The alcohol is very good, especially dark rum and various cocktails: Pina Colada, Cuba Libre and others.

The cafe serves delicious ice cream and offers natural coffee and fresh fruit for breakfast. As for the food in the main restaurant, which serves customers in a buffet style, it corresponds to the declared four stars. There are always several meat, fish and vegetable dishes. In addition to the main Vista al Mar, the Bellevue Puntarena Playa Caleta Resort 4* hotel has three a la carte restaurants with Creole, Italian and Chinese cuisines.

Some tourists ordered only breakfast, given that food prices in Cuba are quite low. Most of the guests were satisfied with the morning meal. They serve everything that Europeans are used to eating for breakfast: sausages, toast, muesli, yogurt. Reviews mention that they provide a lot of fruits, including exotic ones.

Beach and pools

The canal on the city side once served as a pier for small ships. Now there are no boats there, but neither is the beach. Everyone swims in the ocean. The beach at the Bellevue Puntarena Playa Caleta Resort 4* hotel complex is beyond praise. Even those reviews that described the hotel in gloomy tones sing praises of its coast: white sand and crystal clear turquoise water.

The resort of Varadero has its own diving school right in the hotel. There are plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas on the hotel's own beach. The hotel complex has a huge swimming pool, stretching windingly throughout the entire territory. There is also no shortage of beach equipment in its area.

Services

Hotel Bellevue Puntarena Playa Caleta Resort 4* (Varadero) offers its guests a free shuttle to the city center. Those who do not want to be bound by a bus schedule can rent a bicycle, motorbike, or even a car at the reception.

The hotel also offers currency exchange. True, reviews recommend acquiring local pesos at the airport (the exchange rate is better there). Wi-Fi internet connection is available for a fee. The speed is sufficient to communicate with family via Skype. The hotel has a doctor's office, and you can hire an individual nanny for your child. The hotel takes care of the health and beauty of its clients. On the territory there is a tennis court, a diving school, a small golf course, a spa center with a sauna and a massage room. Children can have fun in the games room, and adults can dance in the disco in the evening.

Bellevue Puntarena Playa Caleta Resort 4*: reviews

Many tourists liked the Puntarena Playa Caleta Resort hotel. Some say that the hotel fully lives up to its four stars, while others even think that it deserves five. The rooms, although small, are equipped with new furniture, and the view from the window is such that you forget about all the minor shortcomings. The staff is very helpful and friendly, many speak Russian.

Tourists are advised not to sit in a hotel, but to travel actively, because prices in Cuba are low. To begin with, you can take a ride around Varadero on an open-top bus (5 kuk). Then go to Havana - this is a “must-see” in Cuba. Tourists recommend paying the excursion company only for the transfer (60 CUC in both directions) without the services of a guide. In Varadero itself, it is worth visiting Varahikakos Park, where there is a cave with bats.
