Is it possible to carry a corkscrew in hand luggage? What cannot be carried on a plane in luggage, and what can it be? List of things that are prohibited from being transported

Hand luggage is the luggage you take on board the plane. Each economy class passenger is entitled to one piece of hand luggage, while business and first class passengers are entitled to two pieces each.

One piece of carry-on luggage is not the same as one bag. There may be several of them. The main thing is that all baggage that you carry on the plane complies with the weight and dimensions standards established by the airline.

What can you take in hand luggage and where to place it?

Bags, backpacks and packages that are considered carry-on luggage must be placed on the shelf above the passenger seat. You cannot leave things in the cabin aisle or at the emergency exit. If you have something heavy or valuable in your bag - for example, a video camera, a laptop - you can put them under the front seat.

Current rules for carrying hand luggage

  1. Minimum free weight Carry-on luggage is the same for all airlines - 5 kg. This means that you can carry a bag weighing 5 kg into the cabin of any airline, even the most budget low-cost ones, for free. Airlines set the maximum weight of hand luggage independently, but it cannot be less than the established norm.
  2. Cell phones, laptops, cameras and other gadgets are considered part of hand luggage. They need to be put in a bag or backpack and weighed all together. For everything that exceeds the established norm, you will have to pay extra. Now there are no exceptions for gadgets - you can try to put them in your pockets, but it may not work.
  3. Additionally In the aircraft cabin you can take in excess of the norm: a handbag, a briefcase, a backpack, baby food, a stroller, and outerwear. You can also bring canes, crutches, walkers, and folding wheelchairs if they fit under a chair or on a shelf. If they don't fit, you'll have to check them in as luggage. Medicines and Duty Free packages are not included in the carry-on baggage allowance.
  4. Hand luggage can be weighed at the check-in counter, as well as when boarding the flight. Some airports have frames to control the size of things. If the luggage fits through the frame, it can be taken on the plane; if not, it can be checked in as luggage.
  5. Liquids must be transported in containers no more than 100 ml, packed in a transparent bag 20x20 cm with a zipper. Liquids include cosmetics, food, and toiletries. The total volume of liquids should not exceed 1 liter. You can only carry one such bag per person on the plane.
  6. Can be carried in hand luggage food products that are permitted by sanitary standards. Remember that processed cheeses, caviar, and yogurt are considered liquids, so their volume cannot be more than 100 ml.
  7. Not allowed in the salon transport small-sized vehicles powered by lithium batteries - electric scooters, unicycles, Segways, hoverboards and hoverboards and others.

Carry-on baggage allowances for airlines that are more often booked by tour operators

We compared how many things you can carry into the cabin on different airlines. Most often, budget low-cost airlines have the strictest size restrictions. The table shows the most popular companies that most often organize flights in package tours.

New rules, adopted in 2017, forced Russian airlines to establish a free hand luggage allowance. Most of them settled on the minimum level of 5 kg per person. Check the transportation rules and weigh your hand luggage before departure so as not to overpay for every extra kilogram.

Hand luggage: what can and cannot be taken on a plane?

Carry-on luggage raises many questions. To avoid any hassles when boarding a flight, learn about basic security requirements and airline baggage restrictions on board the plane. Prohibited items, number of pieces, size and weight of hand luggage, rules for transporting liquids, food and medicine.

What can you take on a plane?

If hand luggage is not the only baggage you are flying with, then you should take with you on the plane only the most valuable and necessary items on the road that are allowed for transportation:

  • money
  • bank cards
  • documentation
  • equipment and gadgets (phone, camera, computer, tablet)
  • jewelry
  • fragile items

The rest of the contents of your carry-on luggage depends on the airline's baggage requirements and your desire to carry it all. Take the test:

All current information about the rules for carrying hand luggage is posted on the websites of airports and airlines. Safety standards are mandatory for everyone, and the number of pieces, weight and size of hand luggage are regulated by airlines.

What not to take in hand luggage

It is prohibited to carry dangerous objects and substances in the aircraft cabin and checked baggage:

  • weapon
  • flammable substances and liquids
  • liquefied gases
  • explosives
  • toxic/radioactive/poisonous/caustic substances
  • piercing and sharp objects

In hand luggage you cannot carry seemingly harmless household items: a corkscrew, a file with sharp edges and nail clippers, scissors, tweezers, a straight razor, a penknife, a corkscrew, knitting needles. All this must be checked in as luggage, and if it is not there, then look for alternatives or buy on the spot. For example, an electric razor or a razor with replaceable units is allowed to be carried in hand luggage, and nail files can be soft.

Rules for transporting liquids in hand luggage

How much liquid can I carry?

Unless additional security measures are introduced, liquids with a total volume of 1 liter in packages of no more than 100 ml are allowed to be carried in hand luggage. You can carry any amount of liquids in any volumes in your luggage.

Liquids include: water, drinks, creams, lotions, aerosols, gels, foams, pastes, etc. Cosmetics (mascara, lip gloss) are also liquids. Keep in mind that if a 200 ml shampoo bottle is half filled, it cannot be carried. The fluids of people flying together do not add up.

Exception: baby food needed by the child during the flight; medications and dietary foods with a doctor’s certificate/prescription.

Where can I get 100 ml containers?

Do not throw away bottles of shampoos and shower gels provided in hotels. Most cosmetic brands sell or give away mini sets of cosmetics with purchase. You can buy a set of liquid containers and fill them with your own liquids.

When going through security control, liquids must be presented separately in a transparent resealable bag. You can buy a bag that meets the requirements at stationery stores (a file with a zipper); a food storage bag with a Zip-Lock or a transparent cosmetic bag with a zipper is also suitable. Some airlines impose additional restrictions on the size of a bag with liquids: 20x20cm, 18x20cm.

Changes to the rules for transporting liquids

During the Olympics in Sochi, the Federal Air Transport Agency introduced a complete ban on the transport of liquids on airplanes. Restrictions may vary from country to country - please check for current information before departure. If during pre-flight inspection it turns out that you have violated the rules for transporting liquids, you will be asked to get rid of the prohibited item yourself (throw it into a special container). Discussions on this topic are useless; they can lead to missed boarding or removal from the flight.

Food in hand luggage

You can take fruits, nuts, hard cheese, sausage, muesli bars, and sandwiches on board. Hand luggage should not contain products prohibited for transportation by customs regulations and liquids with a volume of more than 100 ml. Water and food can be purchased after going through pre-flight security in the “clean zone”; food and drinks on board are offered by most airlines (included in the ticket or purchased separately). You can take an empty water bottle with you and ask the flight attendant to fill it.

Medicines in hand luggage

You are allowed to carry medicines in their original packaging in hand luggage. Check in advance whether your medications are legal in your destination country. If medications are prescribed by a doctor, it is better to take it with you. Liquid medicines (gels, aerosols, ointments, ampoules) are subject to the rules for transporting liquids - no more than 100 ml. If the medicine is vital, notify the airport staff and present a doctor's certificate or an extract from your medical history.

Number of pieces of hand luggage

The number of pieces of hand luggage is regulated by the airline. As a rule, you are allowed to take 1 piece of luggage into the cabin. Business and first class passengers are allowed to carry 2 pieces of hand luggage. Most large airline companies do not count a handbag or men's briefcase, umbrella, laptop, suit or dress in a clothing case as a separate item.

Budget airlines have strict baggage requirements, following the rule: 1 person = 1 piece of hand luggage. The exceptions are folding strollers, crutches, and outerwear. You are almost always allowed to take a Duty Free package on board.

Size and weight of hand luggage

The dimensions and weight of the baggage that you can take into the cabin also depend on the requirements of the airline, the class of the ticket and the flight route. Carry-on luggage can be a small suitcase, backpack, bag.

Standard carry-on baggage size requirements: no more than 115 cm in the sum of three dimensions (55x40x20cm). Hand luggage weight is 5-10 kg. Example: a standard-sized suitcase for transportation in the cabin of an airplane.

At the airport, you can always check your weight at a free check-in counter and transfer extra kilos to your checked baggage. If you're flying with only carry-on baggage, this won't happen, so check your carry-on baggage weight at home on a bathroom scale. Low-cost airlines check framed luggage, it must fit completely into the frame, including wheels and handles.

Check with your airline about transportation of sports equipment, musical instruments and other oversized items. Before you buy anything on a trip, think about whether there is free space in your luggage; you will have to pay extra for excess space.

The benefits of traveling light

What cannot be carried in airplane luggage is a question that worries many passengers. This question is more relevant than ever for those who use air transport for the first time. Today, there are detailed lists of items that passengers cannot carry on an airplane.

Each airline sets its own limits and standards, so before your flight you should carefully study the information on official sources and, if necessary, consult with airport staff.

According to statistics, the plane is one of the safest modes of transport. However, for a successful flight and to avoid unpleasant situations, the airline must take care of safety measures during the flight. They depend on the following factors:

    • Environmental factors.
    • Competent behavior of crew members and passengers.
    • Preparation of equipment before flight.

Safety rules do not bypass airplane passengers. Before and during the flight, they must follow a number of rules that reduce the likelihood of emergency situations. For example, a person must strictly observe the weight standards of luggage for transportation, turn off mobile devices, and remain calm.

What items are prohibited from being carried in checked and carry-on baggage?

Before your flight, you should familiarize yourself with the baggage requirements. Carry-on luggage is the suitcase or bag that a person takes with him into the aircraft cabin. Such things will be placed in a special shelf or under the passenger seat. Acceptable limits for hand luggage:

    • Weight no more than 12 kg.
    • Mandatory inspection of the contents by airport staff before takeoff.

Bags weighing up to 30 kg are placed in the luggage compartment of the aircraft. The restrictions do not end with checking the baggage weight limit. It is prohibited to carry the following items on the plane:

    • Weapons (firearms, cold steel, gas).
    • Explosives (dynamite, cartridges, smoke bombs, firecrackers).
    • Gaseous objects (cylinders, lighters, aerosols).
    • Flammable substances (acetone, menthol, kerosene, petroleum products).
    • Toxic items (nicotine, mercury, arsenic).
    • Substances that cause corrosion (salts, alkalis, resins).

It is also prohibited to carry radioactive substances and items that could damage the cargo in the luggage compartment. Your hand luggage should not contain:

    • Stabbing and cutting objects (knives, scissors, corkscrew).
    • Small-sized vehicles (scooter, hoverboard).

It is prohibited to take on the plane dummies that resemble weapons in appearance. The same rule applies to children's toys. You cannot carry flammable substances, flammable liquids, weapons or sharp objects in both hand luggage and the luggage compartment.

Items that can be carried in the luggage compartment of an aircraft

In the luggage compartment and hand luggage you can carry all those things that do not pose any risk to flight passengers. These include:

    • Personal belongings of the passenger (clothing, perfume, personal hygiene products).
    • Cosmetic products. In this case, all products must be packaged in sealed bags or containers.
    • Products. To transport food you need to have special containers. Otherwise, the person may not be allowed on board the plane.
    • Baby food. Mixtures and cereals should also be tightly packed.
    • A child seat, if its dimensions do not exceed the size of an airplane seat.
    • Wheelchairs for disabled people and crutches.
    • Alcohol products, cigarettes. It is worth considering that there are quantity restrictions on such products.
    • Phones, tablets, computers. However, during the takeoff of the airliner, all equipment will have to be turned off.
    • Sport equipment.
    • Medicines. They must be packaged and not banned in many countries.
    • Jewelry and decorations.
    • Books, notebooks, folders with documents.
    • Pets. Provided that they are placed in a special cage or carrier.

If any items do not fit into the established framework or are suspicious, you need to be prepared for inspection by airport staff.

List of items that are not allowed to be carried in the cabin of the aircraft

Carry-on luggage is those things that a person may need during the flight. Therefore, these items must be safe for all passengers on the ship. The list of prohibited items changes annually and depends on the specific airline. Today the following items are not allowed on the plane:

    • Weapon.
    • Flammable liquids.
    • Explosive products.
    • Toxic substances.
    • Oxidizing liquids.

The list of prohibited items for flights also includes quite harmless items:

    • Corkscrew.
    • Nailfile.
    • Tweezers for plucking eyebrows.
    • Razor.
    • Manicure set.

If inadmissible items are found, the person will not be allowed on board the aircraft. In addition, a forced inspection may be arranged for him, which is considered not the most pleasant action towards a citizen.

Impossibility of transporting firearms and their replicas in the aircraft cabin

A person who does not have permission to store and transport weapons is prohibited from transporting firearms. The same rule applies to dummies that resemble weapons, knives, and swords in appearance. Therefore, you should not take juvenile toys with you on board. Otherwise, the situation will result in a thorough interrogation, check and cancellation of the flight.

If it is necessary to carry a weapon, a person must notify airline employees in advance. The passenger will need to present a permit and also appear for check-in at the airport 2-3 hours before departure. A person must hand over his weapon to an airport employee for the duration of the flight. After arriving at the destination, the passenger will receive all his belongings back.

Items that can be carried in the luggage compartment of an aircraft subject to restrictions

Some items can be carried on the plane, but under certain conditions set by the airline. For example:

    • Alcoholic products may be present on board an aircraft only if they are in sealed packaging. In this case, there should be no more than 5 liters of drink per passenger, and its strength should be in the range of 24-70%.
    • Medicines, thermometer. You are allowed to carry medications that are not recognized as prohibited in many countries around the world. The list changes regularly; you can find the information on the carrier’s official website 1-2 days before departure. The thermometer must be in a special case.
    • Baby strollers are allowed to be taken up the ramp, after which they are sent to the luggage compartment of the aircraft.
    • Professional equipment. Allowed to be carried with special permission, and the passenger can carry no more than 1 spare battery for gadgets.

Products (perfumes, drinks) purchased at Duty Free must be packaged in plastic containers or bags bearing the store logo. You also need to have a receipt with you.

    Conditions for transporting liquids

If it is necessary to transport liquid products, it must be taken into account that its volume should not exceed 1 liter. You can take to the salon:

    • Plain and mineral water.
    • Drinks, juices, cocktails.
    • Shampoos.
    • Creams.
    • Cosmetic sprays.

Cosmetic products are also considered liquids. You can bring on the plane:

    • Mascara.
    • Nail polish.
    • Powder, foundation.
    • Lip gloss.

It is worth considering that the volume of each individual container should not exceed 100 ml. Otherwise, the person will have to leave things at the airport or cancel the flight. Baby food falls under the exception category. If a child requires more formula than 1 liter during a flight, airport staff will allow the liquid to be transported in larger volumes.

All tubes and containers with mixtures and cosmetic products must be carefully packaged and placed in special containers. You can buy them at stationery stores. Today, special sealed travel kits are also sold that meet all necessary standards. They contain personal hygiene products, water, and some medications.

Special permission to transport prohibited items. What requirements must be met?

In order to bring certain substances or things onto the plane, you must have special permission. This can be done in multifunctional centers or at the airport. Most often, permission is given when it is necessary to transport batteries whose power reaches 160 Wh. However, it is permissible to transport such items only in the luggage compartment.

A permit will also be required for weapons. It's a little more difficult to get. To do this, a person needs to notify the carrier in advance about the situation that has arisen. To check in for a flight, you will have to arrive at the airport several hours in advance, and you will need to pack your weapon in a safe case or box. Before the flight, the passenger gives it to the airport employee, receives a special certificate and, when landing at the destination, presents it to pick up personal belongings.

Where are the seized items sent?

Those seized items that are of no value to the passenger are thrown away by airport employees. In other cases, personal items are stored and returned after boarding. What methods of preservation exist:

    • Reseption. Here you can consult with the operator and place all your things in the storage room. If necessary, luggage will be sent by mail to the specified address. If items that are permissible to be kept in the airliner’s luggage are removed from your hand luggage, they are transferred to the luggage compartment.
    • Prohibited items that are confiscated in hand luggage can be collected after the trip. But for this you will need to sign a special act indicating permission to store any things.
    • If prohibited items are found in the luggage compartment after check-in for a flight, the owner of the bags will be informed about this and will undergo a thorough inspection. In such cases, items can be left at the airport after signing a special act.

If airport employees find unregistered weapons, ammunition and dangerous substances, the police will be immediately informed about the situation. In this case, the irresponsible passenger will be removed from the flight and sent to the police station for questioning.

How to avoid unpleasant situations during inspection

To avoid getting into awkward situations during check-in, you must follow the following rules:

    • Before departure, you need to carefully study all the transportation rules specified by a particular airline. You can find them on official sources on the Internet.
    • Leave all liquid items in your luggage and suitcases, and take only the most necessary products for hand luggage.
    • The day before the flight, measure the volume of the prepared containers and pour the liquid into smaller containers if the norm of 1 liter is exceeded.
    • When purchasing goods from Duty Free, you do not need to open them before leaving the plane.
    • When transporting medications necessary to maintain a stable condition of the patient, you must have a doctor's certificate with you.
    • If medications contain narcotic elements, you must provide airport employees with a prescription in Latin.

    Transportation of bulky items

It is permissible to transport large items on board aircraft. For example, household appliances or musical instruments. However, you will have to pay money for exceeding the weight limit. The exact amount depends on the tariff plan of a particular carrier. All items must be carefully packed, this will help prevent damage to the cargo.

The list of large items permitted for transportation can be found on the website of the selected airline or from a specialist at the airport. It is worth taking into account all the carrier’s requirements in order to avoid unforeseen problems and not delay the plane before departure.

What is prohibited to take on a plane. Hand luggage and baggage:

The permissible weight varies from 23 to 32 kg free of charge per passenger, and for a child under 2 years old a maximum of 10 kg is set.

Weight is set depending on the fare of your trip(economy class, business class, etc.). As a rule, when traveling in business class you are allowed to carry more weight than in economy class.

Remember that you cannot transport it in the luggage compartment of an airplane, whose weight exceeds the permissible maximum; will have to do in excess of the established norm, therefore, to avoid such situations at the airport, measure the weight of your suitcase yourself at home on regular scales or transfer everything into bags and suitcases.

However, in some European countries, loaders refuse to load more than 32 kg on board, and in this case the additional payment will not help in any way and you will have to put everything into an additional bag.

Your baggage is not added up in any way, and if one of your bags weighs within the normal limits and the other weighs more, then you only pay for the excess weight of the second bag.

It is worth noting that in some Western countries (Canada, USA) or the so-called members of the SkyTeam alliance, which includes the famous airline Aeroflot, a baggage purchase system is used.

A piece of luggage is 1-2 free pieces(depending on the tariff) one piece of luggage up to 23 kg (economy class), and in business class it is free 2 pieces weighing up to 32 kg for each piece of luggage, that is, luggage in this case is counted individually.

For example, you can take 2 free pieces with a capacity of up to 23 kg. One of your bags weighs 18 kg, and the other 25 kg, then your first bag is one free piece of luggage, and the second is already the second separate piece, for the excess of which you need to pay extra.

If you have airline bonus cards, then they will provide an additional 1 place.

There are also situations when a passenger needs to transport: musical instruments, household appliances, large items, then in this case you must first agree with your airline, where you will have to pay additionally for such transportation.

However, be prepared that they may refuse, since not all airliner loading hatches are capable of transporting such heavy objects.

However, as an exception, passengers can transport disabled people and, sports equipment, which counts as one free piece of baggage.

    Special permission

You may carry certain items that require special permission and compliance with the necessary conditions. They pose a particular danger, and therefore they are kept in special compartments of the aircraft with restricted access.

These include: firearms, guns for hunting, checkers, sabers, crossbows, gas cartridges, large scissors, etc.

As for weapons, you can carry them on an aircraft on domestic and international flights, but only if you have the right to carry and store weapons, and in the case of international flights, then an international permit.

Before going through customs inspection, you are required to notify an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs or a customs officer that you are transporting weapons, where they will be registered and deposited in special compartments of the aircraft or handed over to the crew for storage.

Remember that each airline and the airport itself sets its own restrictions.

Any weapon must be in a case and unloaded. For example, gas pistol cartridges are generally prohibited from being transported by airliner at Vnukovo airport.

All of the above items are handed over to the owner unchanged at the airport at the place of arrival.

    What happens to seized items?

If dangerous or prohibited items are found in your possession, then naturally they are subject to confiscation. Each airport has a list of things prohibited from being carried on an airplane, as well as instructions, procedures and deadlines for their destruction and sale.

However, according to the general rule all prohibited items are disposed of.

As a rule, organizations that deal with the disposal of seized objects are not made public, and you will not know where they ended up.

Once removed, they are packed in black bags or packages and then burned or damaged so much that they are no longer usable.

If any items are confiscated from you, then the inspection staff will draw up a special seizure report. You have every right to demand it.

If you believe that things have been illegally taken from you, which are not prohibited by the airline and airport rules, you can go to court.

If you are transporting weapons or ammunition without the appropriate permit or even toxic or explosive substances, then problems cannot be avoided, and the internal affairs bodies will initiate criminal proceedings against you.

Weapons and other restricted items will be handed over to the police.

To avoid losing valuables, you can alternatively send them by mail or through international delivery services; leave it in a storage room for a fee; transfer to relatives or friends for storage, etc.

Therefore, before you go on a trip or business trip, carefully learn the rules for transporting cargo in the luggage compartment and hand luggage, since any seemingly insignificant thing can complicate your further flight.

Liquids with a volume of less than 100 ml

The golden rule of air travel is that all liquids (your favorite face cream and body lotion, perfume and a bottle of whiskey) must be packaged properly:

    • in special containers up to 100 milliliters in size;
    • the total volume of all containers should not exceed 1 liter per person;
    • It is advisable to pack all jars and bottles with liquids in a transparent bag (it is better to take 20x20 centimeters in size, although this is not required everywhere).

As you can see, there are a lot of problems, so sometimes, if the flight is not very long, it’s easier to put all your favorite products in your luggage - your skin will survive three and a half hours without moisturizing with avocado oil.

    Laptop and charger

Agree, forcing you to fly without your favorite laptop is truly cruel. During a long flight, you can work and watch a TV series (the main thing is don’t forget to download it in advance). No one is going to deprive you of this opportunity, so rest assured: you can carry a laptop in the cabin of the plane.

But remember: in order not to delay other passengers during security checks, take the equipment out of your backpack and put it in a plastic container next to other things - otherwise you risk slowing down the entire line by taking everything out at the last moment.

    There is (eye) contact!

If you wear permanent contact lenses, pour the storage liquid into a bottle with a volume of up to 100 milliliters, otherwise you will have to squint your entire vacation not from the sun, but because you can’t see anything.

    Hair straighteners and electric shaver

If you have a business meeting waiting for you immediately after the flight and urgently need to become beautiful, it is permissible to carry a hair straightener and an electric razor in your hand luggage. While your luggage is being placed on the belt, you can get yourself in order.

    Medicines

A classic tourist first aid kit (painkillers, antipyretics, antiseptics, nasal drops, plaster) can be safely carried in hand luggage, the main thing is to make sure that all containers are less than 100 milliliters.

What to do in special cases? There is one salvation: every drug that goes beyond the transportation rules (each receiving country has its own list, so check it out in advance - for example, you cannot bring Valocordin to Europe) must be accompanied by a prescription from a doctor. Please note that:

    • the recipe must be translated by a certified translator;
    • Medicines must be in their original packaging - they cannot be transfused. So, if you absolutely need to take some medicine with you on the plane, and the original packaging exceeds 100 milliliters, you will also have to get a prescription.

Some medications need to be stored in the refrigerator - in this case (and again, if there is a translation of the instructions that confirms this fact), you can take the cooler bag with the medicine with you on the plane.

    Football, basketball, other sports balls

We don’t know why you need this, but yes: you can take a soccer ball (even an inflated one) with you. The main thing is that it fits into your hand luggage.

    Mini bottles of alcohol

Unfortunately, if you bring them from home, only mini ones. Some avid travelers simply pour their favorite drink into small containers and then sleep soundly throughout the flight. It is important here not to confuse the treasured bottle with the one with shampoo.

If every time you go to duty-free, you are blown away and you run to buy sweets, souvenirs and alcohol, keep in mind that airlines limit the number of packages allowed in different ways. Pobeda, for example, requires that the size of the purchased baggage, along with the rest of the hand luggage, be placed in a special calibrator, which you will find at the boarding gate. So be careful with your purchases, otherwise you will have to spend three hours trying to cram what you bought, delaying other passengers. Ryanair allows only one package - for additional ones you will have to pay 8 € (about 600 rubles)

Most likely, you will not be able to uncork your purchase on the plane: this is prohibited. But there is also good news: Aeroflot recently to economy class!

    Alcohol control

Before you run to duty-free to buy something, read the rules for importing alcohol into your host country - the quantity is different everywhere. To Russia, for example, you can import up to 3 liters of alcoholic beverages with an alcohol content of up to 70%, to Europe - 4 liters of wine, 16 liters of beer and 1 liter of spirits, and you cannot import alcohol to the Maldives at all. Just don’t carry supplies in your hand luggage - we’re talking about the luggage you check in.

    Musical instruments

For safety reasons, your instrument must fit into the luggage rack: you will have to check your favorite cello in your luggage (don’t forget about the hard case!). If the dimensions of the instrument allow it, you can take it to the salon and rest assured that it will be safe.

    Any solid food

Nuts, dried fruits, sausage sandwiches! Of course, take all this with you, especially if you are flying with a low-cost airline and don’t want to spend money on expensive (and not very tasty) food. The main thing is that the food is solid, otherwise the main “100 milliliter rule” comes into force again (this applies to yoghurts, cereals, baby food and any other liquid food).

    It is forbidden

Liquids with a volume of more than 100 ml

We deliberately emphasize this point (repetition is the mother of learning!): even if there is only 50 milliliters of whiskey left in a half-liter water bottle, you still cannot take it on the plane - not only the volume of liquid is important, but also the size of the container itself.

    Sharp objects

Sharp objects on board the plane are strictly prohibited: the red list includes scissors, knives, forks, and axes (yes, don’t even think about taking an ax on board the plane, even if Raskolnikov is your favorite character from the Russian classics!).

A manicure set is also not allowed: not just scissors, but in general everything if made of metal. Only ceramic, glass and emery files are allowed, but in general, it’s better not to irritate your chair neighbor with a sudden desire to get a manicure. You won't be able to carry knitting needles and corkscrews either.

    Snow balls

Alas, you won’t be able to nostalgically look at the magical snow ball the entire flight - since there is liquid inside, you won’t be able to take it on board forbidden . The exception is a small (smaller than a tennis ball) snow globe; it can be carried in hand luggage along with the rest of the jars. You can pack it in a plastic bag (which is 20x20 centimeters) - for peace of mind.

    Weapon

We do not assume that you are going to carry real weapons with you, but please note: even dummies will have to be checked in as luggage. So, if you are flying from an international exhibition of Tolkienists, put Aragorn’s sword (or Legolas’ bow) in your suitcase - the forces of evil will wait for your soft landing, so that later they will meet again in a merciless duel. Lightsabers and even plastic pistols are also prohibited for those who like to play James Bond (or Lara Croft).

We hope that we have not only refreshed your knowledge in an area well known to everyone, but also relieved you of paranoia about nuts or hair straighteners. Now you can cross the threshold of the airport with peace of mind. Pleasant flight!
