Travel route around Crimea without a car. To Crimea by car

From the experience of traveling to Crimea by car.

Holidays in Crimea. Crimea in September. To Crimea with a tent. Photos from the trip.
Sea Crimea A trip to Crimea by car with a tent in early September is the most wonderful time! The crossing is freer, there are much fewer people, and there are also fewer cars on the road. And the weather is wonderful!
In September 2015, Crimea was met with a temperature of +36, but mostly it was +30.
If you like a secluded holiday, then it is better to stop first behind Sudak, before reaching the village of Morskoye.
You can put up a tent next to your car right on the seashore. Traveling to Crimea by car with a tent, of course, you need to plan and choose a convenient route for yourself, planning tent sites along the road, and where to stop for the night, of course, you need to plan so that you can get to the chosen place by car, and not then walk under the scorching sun.

Camp on the seashore near the village of Morskoye
There are small amenities - toilet, drinking water, shower. The area is clean.
In the evening, administrators come by and collect money - 100 rubles. from the car.
The best part is the silence. The sea is ten meters away, clean pebble beach. Even people from Sudak come here to swim.
If you need a store, you can walk or go to the village, 1 km from the vacation spot.
The village has campsites, hotels, entertainment, but there are also more people, which means more noise and loud music.
If you look at the sea, then to the left, on Cape Kabany, there is the Solnechny Kamen sanatorium. You can go there along the shore on an excursion. A very beautiful park with swings, flower beds, rare trees, a well-maintained beach with showers.
Very clean, people are friendly, there are few holidaymakers in September.
You can climb the mountain, along a crumbling steep slope, next to the abandoned, unfinished boarding house of the Lipetsk plant, and walk along the top to the village of Morskoye.
Fyodor Bondarchuk also noticed this strange structure. He used it in the filming of his film "Inhabited Island".
So there are vineyards at the top. They are not visible from below. Due to the inaccessibility on this side, the vineyards are not protected. Almonds also grow there.
When you climb the mountain, don't forget to make a wish. The view is stunning of the sea and the rocks of Cape Kabanye. Wishes come true! Tested for myself.
From Morskoye you can make day trips on excursions, leaving your tent on the shore under the supervision of neighbors, and taking valuables with you.
And in the evening, cook delicious food, breathe the sea air, swim, admire the sunset.
By the way, it is better to cook food on a stove with a gas canister. In Crimea there is a problem with firewood, as well as with drinking water... there are few rivers. But if you walk towards the Solnechny Kamen sanatorium, you can stumble upon a river that looks more like a stream, called Raven. I don’t know why this name is given. There you can take process water. But, as mentioned above, there are no problems with clean water in this place. You can also spend it on cooking, drinking, doing laundry, and taking a shower. Nobody limits. And this is an important factor in the convenience of traveling with a tent by car.

Traveling around Crimea

Tarkhankut
After swimming and resting, you can continue your journey to the west of the Crimean Peninsula, to the westernmost Cape Tarkhankut. You can set up a tent anywhere: either closer to the rocks or to the sandy beach, the main thing is to have a supply of fresh water with you, and if you don’t have it, then stay closer to civilization, for example, not far from Olenevka. Undoubtedly, it will be interesting to visit the snow-white rocky slope of Atlesh with green-blue caves and Kastel Bay, where there are plants listed in the Red Book.

Cape Tarkhankut is several kilometers of coastline with beautiful bays, caves and grottoes, the water here is the purest - a paradise for diving.

It's great if you are interested in diving, windsurfing, kiting...or want to learn all this. There are all conditions for this.
And the road itself will be interesting. Especially the section of the old Yalta road. This is an extraordinary place! Beautiful serpentine from Yalta to Bakhchisarai. What views of the sea and rocks! The road winds through the forest to Ai-Petri, and descends in the same serpentine way. You feel like you are in a fairy tale, especially when you meet roe deer.
You can stop at Ai-Petri and admire the extraordinary landscape of central Russia. It's cool up there and there's constant wind. There are cafes and observation decks.
When you go down from the pass, the road will pass near unusual rocks. It was as if a giant wizard had thrown cobblestones. Be sure to stop in Bakhchisarai. There's a lot to see there. Khan's Palace, in which Pushkin saw the Bakhchisarai fountain. These amazing old streets. A monastery with a church carved into the rock. Cave city - Chufut-Kale.
Oh, what peaches they sell along the road right next to the peach orchards! But the peach season is July-August.
In Bakhchisarai you can buy fresh food supplies and continue on your way to Tarkhankut.
An interesting road between the cities of Saki and Evpatoria. A long, long, many kilometers long sand and pebble beach stretches along the sea. And the water is an amazing turquoise color. You can stop and swim and relax. You can park here for free and go camping.
Steppe Crimea is not a very beautiful sight. Sparse agricultural fields, and mostly semi-desert with scorched red rocky soil with sparse dry grass sticking out.
The roads are not very good. The path lies in the village of Olenevka. The village itself is quite civilized, you can rent housing here, but if you want to live on the shore in a tent, then you still need to drive about five kilometers to the seashore, where there are white cliffs with through holes, an underwater museum where boat services and diving equipment are provided.
In general, this place looks better from the sea. All the beauty comes mainly from there. On the very shore there is a bare, dry, rocky desert.
If you want privacy, then to the left of the lighthouse to the village of Olenevka stretches shallow water with an amazing rocky beach. All stones are “chicken gods” with holes, light, multi-colored.
The tents are located at a great distance from each other. Silence. The sea is very warm and clean.
Again, there is a problem with firewood and drinking water. Therefore, the best solution is a gas cylinder with a camp stove and a supply of drinking water.

Near Olenevka
Orlovka
From Cape Tarkhankut you can go to the village of Orlovka.

Orlovka village
There is a wonderful sandy beach here. A river flows into the sea, so there are no problems with technical fresh water.
Nearby are shops, entertainment, recreation centers.
The only inconvenience is the strong wind. It is difficult to keep the tent on the shore. But if you do everything correctly - secure it well, then relaxing here will be a pleasure! The water is clean, the sand is velvety, there are not many people.
Lyubimovka

Lyubimovka
Then you can go to Lyubimovka (it’s nearby), put up a tent and relax right on the seashore.
The shore is sandy and rocky, with an overhanging clay cliff that protects from the wind.
In Lyubimovka there are recreation centers and campsites, shops, and entertainment.
But relaxing in silence right on the seashore is great!
The same question - fuel and water. Take everything with you.
Sevastopol

Wild beach in Omega Bay
Oh, that's a different story. There are so many attractions there!
One day is not enough to see everything.
We stood with a tent in the city itself, in the “Letchiki” microdistrict, on the very shore of the sea, in Omega Bay.
From there we made trips by car to Malakhov Kurgan, Chersonesus, to Sapun Mountain, to the 35th battery, the Brotherly Cemetery of Soldiers - Defenders of Sevastopol, to the Black River in the Inkerman area, Cape Fiolent, etc. We walked along the embankment, looked at the city center, museums, panoramas .
Balaclava

Balaclava Bay
Great to go see Balaklava! Such a beautiful bay! Closed from the sea (there is never a storm), with yachts from different countries moored to the shore, with amazing houses clinging almost to the water's edge. On the high slopes are the Genoese towers, which can be reached along numerous paths. Amazing views! And the feeling of such such antiquity!
Downstairs they sell souvenirs, there are many cafes, canteens, and food stalls. From Balaklava Bay you can take a boat ride to Golden or Silver Beach. Swim there and return to the car on the same boat. Or take a tent, food, water with you and spend a few days on the seashore. This color of sea water can only be seen in films, thinking that it was filmed with special filters. But in fact, the sea here is real blue, turquoise.
Laspi
Then you can go to Laspi Bay between capes Sarych and Aya, and specifically to Batiliman.

Batiliman

Batiliman beach. The beauty here is extraordinary! Coordinates: Latitude 44°25′12″N (44.420068), Longitude 33°41′32″E (33.692098).
You can swim until mid-October - the warmest place.
Thousand-year-old junipers grow along the rocky shore.
You can put up a tent for free on any wooden decks that are placed along the slope among the trees.
The beach is very exotic, created by nature. Shards of rocks are in the water, you can swim them around. There are huge boulders and small pebbles on the shore.
To get down to this place by car, you have to maneuver along a narrow road, along the edges of which cars are parked near dachas, small hotels, and boarding houses. By the way, at the top, a little to the side, is Yanukovych’s dacha. The parking lot itself, where you can leave your car (you need to drive to the end of the road), is an amazing sight. The cars are parked close to each other. A telephone number is left on the windshield. If someone needs to leave the parking lot, they call, and the owner of the car comes and maneuvers to clear the road. Everything is permitted in a civilized manner.
A trip to Crimea by car with a tent is very exciting! Along the way, wonderful views of the sea and rocks open up all the time. Along the way you can stop in all the amazing corners and take excursions.
You can complete your trip to Crimea by car again, on the already familiar shore, near the village of Morskoye. Stay overnight, swim and go to the crossing.
It turns out that you have traveled almost the entire coast of Crimea.

In the middle of the last century, in the once huge country called the Soviet Union, a car was available to few. Those lucky ones who managed to get their hands on this miracle of technology tried to use its capabilities to their full potential. In those days, holidays in the cities and towns of Crimea were the most popular and affordable. But, having bought a ticket, vacationers could only visit one or two cities. Then, as a car trip, it was possible to visit many more interesting corners of the vast country, and you could also stop where it was convenient.

It was no worse then!

Despite the post-war years, the roads, at least the main ones, were almost at the highest level. Along the entire length of the highways leading to resort areas or to the sea, there were numerous rest areas for travelers. There they could eat, take a shower and rest a little, and, if necessary, receive the services of auto repairmen. As a rule, car trips lasted a very long time due to the remoteness of vacation spots from big cities, and such “oases” saved drivers from overwork.

In recent years, after a long period of oblivion, car travel has begun to gain popularity again. And just like in ancient times, the main destination for tourists remains Crimea with its historical values, unique nature, and hospitable residents.

To Crimea by ferry

When planning a trip to Crimea in your own car, you first need to determine the route.

Actually, you can get to the territory of the peninsula from three ports of the Krasnodar Territory:

  • Port "Caucasus";
  • Port in Anapa;
  • Port in Novorossiysk.

Passenger and cargo ferries carry out crossings from all ports. Only the port in Novorossiysk carries out cargo transportation, while the other two transport cars and people across the Kerch Strait.

In addition to summer transportation, ferries also operate in winter, since during construction they were designed so that, when transporting cargo and passengers, it was possible to clear the path from ice. Thus, with the advent of icebreaker ferries, communication between the Crimean Peninsula and the Krasnodar Territory in winter has been significantly simplified.

Getting to the desired port, tourists cross a large territory of Russia by car. All travelers can visit places that cannot be reached by train or plane.

When touring the country in their own car, vacationers have the opportunity to stop at a place they like and enjoy nature or architecture; moreover, they can spend as much time at the chosen point as the trip participants wish.

Kerch is the starting point

So, having crossed the strait, all travelers find themselves in the hero city of Kerch. Unfortunately, this ancient city with an interesting history for many tourists remains only a starting point on a voyage around the Crimea. In vain. After all, despite the more sparse landscape than in Yalta or Sudak.

There are a lot of attractions in the vicinity of Kerch that can open unknown pages in history to many tourists:

  • Like the Crimean Peninsula;
  • So do the countries as a whole.

Those wishing to receive treatment can easily visit the salty mud lakes, also located not far from Kerch. Not many guests of the city know that there are about fifty volcanoes with healing mud on the Kerch Peninsula.

You can visit the ruins of ancient settlements located in the Kerch district:

  • Panticapaeum;
  • Mirmekiy;
  • Tiritaka;
  • Nymphaeum.

Climbing the Mithridates Stairs, which is the hallmark of the city, to the very top, any lover of antiquity will feel all the luxury and grandeur of the once mighty ruler of the Bosporus. On the very spot where the eternal flame develops stood his beautiful palace. From this point, two mounds overgrown with thick grass are clearly visible. These are the burial places of ancient kings.

To explore all the available attractions, you need to spend about four days in Kerch. Traveling by car, tourists do not depend on the time assigned by the guides, and can independently, armed with guidebooks, explore the remains of ancient civilizations and natural wonders.

Vintage Kefe

After leaving hospitable Kerch, car tourists usually head to Feodosia, whose Crimean Tatar name is Kefe. This is one of the ancient cities built by the Greeks.

But, unfortunately, only evidence of its medieval heyday has been preserved in good condition:

  • The ruins of a once powerful Genoese fortress;
  • Temple of John the Baptist;
  • Church of St. George;
  • Tower of St. Constantine;
  • Tower of Thomas;
  • The tower is round.

There are reminders everywhere in the city of the multinational composition of the Crimean population.

So many:

  • Muslim buildings;
  • Orthodox;
  • There is evidence of the presence of Greeks and Armenians.

According to experienced travelers, car tourism provides many advantages, one of which is exploring the cities along the route. So, if local beauties were captured on film or a digital camera, and the final goal of the route is not achieved, you can leave the locality and continue moving to the next point of the auto tour.

Koktebel - a haven of bohemia

Continuing the journey from Feodosia to Koktebel, many are surprised to notice how the landscape and relief are changing:

  • Steppe and gently hilly expanses give way to high mountains;
  • Somewhere near Feodosia and not far from Koktebel is the Kara-Dag nature reserve;
  • This unforgettable territory deserves the brush of the best artist.

The fabulous view of the Kara-Dag volcanic mountain range has attracted tourists for a very long time. Due to the influx of people wanting to walk and hunt in the territory adjacent to Black Mountain, unique animals and birds were almost completely exterminated. After the restoration of the flora and fauna of these places, in order to preserve this wonderful natural monument, it was decided to create a protected area near the extinct Kara-Dag volcano, and part of the Black Sea waters also belongs to its territory.

Now you can visit the reserve only in the presence of specialists and you can only walk along authorized paths.

Auto travelers can enjoy:

  • Alien species of this miracle;
  • Created by natural elements;
  • Having driven along the road near the sea;
  • Armed with binoculars, it is quite possible to get a good look at this giant with its valleys and caves.

At the foot of the Kara-Dag Mountain is the town of Koktebel, very famous for its visitors. It is called a meeting place for bohemian artists, poets and writers. This small resort town is mentioned in the literature of many Russian writers. Despite its small territory, Koktebel has long been deservedly popular among tourists.

This Crimean town has everything for an unforgettable holiday and road trip:

  • Long sandy and pebble beaches that are kept in excellent condition;
  • You can choose to stay in a comfortable hotel or boarding house, or in the private sector not far from the sea coast;
  • Cozy cafes that offer dishes from numerous peoples living in Crimea;
  • Well-groomed parks and public gardens where you can hide from the summer heat.

If car tourists plan to spend several days in Koktebel, then you can visit the vintage wine factory, the Golden Gate rock and make a wish to visit the Voloshin Museum. And, if among the passengers there are fans of gliding, then they should definitely stay in Koktebel. On Mount Klimentyev, thanks to the rising currents, ideal conditions have been created for practicing this type of extreme sport.

Here, at the foot of the mountain, athletes gather and indulge in the passion of their lives.

Quiet Sunny Valley

Heading from Koktebel deep into the Crimean peninsula, you definitely need to make a stop in the quiet village of Solnechnaya Dolina. The road to this place runs along a serpentine road. And the surrounding beauty literally makes your head spin. There are no tourists or bustle here. If, after traveling a long way, tourists decide to stay here, then there will be no regrets. The valley is surrounded on all sides by mountains and smoothly descends to the sea.

In Sun Valley, wines are made from grape varieties that grow only here. Therefore, the village is considered one of the places where only Crimean wines are produced - the pride of the peninsula.

Zander. Nearby attractions

Having left the cozy and picturesque village, the car with travelers heads to one of the most popular and noisy cities of Crimea - the incomparable Sudak. You need to stay in this city for a few days. The fact is that in the vicinity of the resort there is a huge number of attractions that must be explored if tourists decide to travel around Crimea.

Worthy of attention:

  • Picturesque mountains with incomprehensible names;
  • Valleys with dense emerald greenery;
  • Ancient antique buildings and sea bays.

Many places are protected areas and can only be reached along so-called ecological trails.

If tourists are not afraid to take risks, then they can try to climb to the top of one of the capes and admire the picturesque seascapes. But there are places in the valley that it is better not to visit without experienced guides. Many trails pass over deep gorges, and attempts to overcome them on your own can lead to unexpected situations.

Travelers who come to Sudak by car are better off parking it and joining an organized group of tourists under the guidance of an experienced guide. This way of studying the ancient culture of Crimea and visiting protected areas will be safer, especially since there are no roads along which one could drive to the place of interest in the reserve.

Mountain ghosts of Alushta

If tourists have time, they should definitely stop by Alushta. But you need to visit not the city itself, but its surroundings. They say that when fog falls on the Demerdzhi mountain range, its bizarre rocky outgrowths resemble fairy-tale ghosts existing peacefully far from people. Probably, in order to make sure of this, it’s worth visiting pretty Alushta. Moreover, it will not be difficult for motorists to drive a couple of extra kilometers.

Beauty - Yalta!

Those who decided to stay in beautiful Yalta after a long but interesting road trip are incredibly lucky! Another forty minutes and the goal is achieved. This is exactly how long it will take to travel from Alushta to Yalta.

The famous resort, which was visited by prominent figures of Russian literature and art. Many of them had their own houses in this wonderful city, and they spent every summer, and sometimes the warm and mild Crimean winter, in Yalta. This city attracts not only with its hospitals and warm sea, but also with its rich history.

Over the many thousands of years of existence of Yalta, no one has ever called himself its owner:

    • Founded by the Greeks in the fifth century BC;
    • The Genoese took possession of the city in the Middle Ages;
    • After successive processes of conquest, the Turks took the lead;
    • After the victory of Russian troops in the Russian-Turkish war of the 18th century, it received its real name, which it still bears with pride.

Several times in the last century, Yalta was subject to natural disasters - severe earthquakes with an interval of just over twenty years - almost completely destroyed this popular city among residents of the former Soviet Union, and now citizens of the Russian Federation. But the authorities had the means and the spirit to restore the historical city, and how could it be otherwise? After all, it was here in the Livadia Palace that the famous meeting of the heads of the powers of the anti-Hitler coalition of 1945 took place.

Nowadays Yalta is a large resort city, famous for its attractions and modern infrastructure. The city hosts a film festival, which attracts a huge number of people who want to gawk at the stars of Russian cinema.

There are a lot of palaces in the city, built in different periods, and they belonged to Russian emperors and princes and counts close to them. Thus, the palace in the small village of Livadia was the Black Sea residence of the royal family, and the Vorontsov Palace in Alupka belonged to Count Vorontsov, the Governor-General of Crimea.

The surrounding monuments of ancient civilization will tell lovers of antiquity about the difficult fate of Crimea. Picturesque mountains and valleys will give you strength and good spirits. Not far from Yalta there is a city whose name few people know, but the historical monument built here is known to all residents of Russia. This is the town of Gaspra, and the attraction is the Swallow's Nest.

Of course, you need to prepare carefully. First of all, you need to make sure that the car is in perfect order and unforeseen situations will be excluded on a long journey. Calculate the time required to visit your final destination and return back.

Determine how many kilometers the car will travel from refueling to refueling, and it is better to have a canister of fuel with you.

Collect all the things that may be useful on the auto tour.

Of course, you can get by:

  • No tents;
  • Pots and tiles;
  • Stay at campsites and guest houses, of which there are a great many on federal highways.

But what about the romance of travel then? Car travel is attractive because, having the necessary tourist kit, you can travel around half the country and spend time in interesting places as much as your heart desires.

The best way to get to know the Crimean Peninsula is to travel independently by car. The opening of the Kerch Bridge has simplified the path to treasured resorts, beaches and attractions.

Traveling around Crimea by car - organizational issues

Like any independent travel, a trip to Crimea requires advance planning so as not to “wrap up” extra kilometers. It will help you plan your route on the spot. mobile guide "Crimea". With its help, the location and the nearest attractions are determined.

It is advisable to install the MAPS.ME mobile application - it works offline.

The main part of the route, traveled by travelers, runs along the sea coast. Two weeks is enough to travel from Kerch to the westernmost point - Cape Tarkhankut and back. The total mileage is about 1000 km. Recommendations for those traveling to Crimea by car:

  • On the peninsula, gasoline is almost 10% more expensive, fill the tank full before Kerch Bridge.
  • Having a car, there is no need to rent housing close to the sea. If you live further from the coast, you can save a lot.
  • There are many wild beaches on the coast; it is much more pleasant to relax there than at crowded resorts.
  • Consider the possibility of spending the night outdoors and stock up on a tent, sleeping bags and a gas stove.

The roads in Crimea are in good condition, so the vehicle's cross-country ability does not matter. In the summer of 2018, travel along the Tavrida highway was complicated due to the construction of a new road.

By car in Crimea you can independently (and often for free) visit most of the must-see attractions.

The advantages of such a trip are the freedom to choose a route, independence from public transport, the ability to get to hard-to-reach places where this same transport does not go, and savings on housing, train and air tickets, especially if traveling in a group.

From Simferopol, the H06 highway leads to the glorious city Sevastopol. Along the way, stop at Bakhchisarai– one of the most interesting cities in Crimea. Its main attraction is. And you should definitely make a stop at the rock monastery Holy Dormition.

Tarkhankut is a favorite place for photographers and extreme sports enthusiasts

From Simferopol to the westernmost point of Crimea - the cape Tarkhankut– 235 km. Driving speed is limited in some places by the not very good road. The journey will take about 4 hours and will go through Saki And Evpatoria, where you can get into small traffic jams. Next - only Black Sea And Olenevka with the most amazing beaches of the Crimean Peninsula.

A trip to Tarkhankut may turn out to be the most striking episode of your trip - this place is strikingly different from the rest of the Crimean nature.

Cape Tarkhankut is a world natural attraction that attracts photographers and filmmakers. Even the most colorful description and photographs cannot convey the splendor of the local nature. It was his landscapes that we saw in the films “Amphibian Man” and “Pirates of the 20th Century”. On the cape itself there are places for camping; more or less passable housing can be found in the village of Olenevka.

The sea in this part of the peninsula is very clean, due to the absence of nearby rivers flowing into it. The clear water attracts divers here. The most popular dive site is the Underwater Museum "Alley of Leaders" with sculptures of people and copies of world architectural masterpieces installed at the bottom. The most popular among tourists are the tracts Big And Maly Altesh. Not far from the cape there are salty estuaries, where water and bottom silt have healing properties.

the south coast of Crimea

Another route option without a trip to the western part of Crimea is to go from Sevastopol on the way back along South Coast. You can stay at Forose and soak up its beaches, visit Alupka V Vorontsov Palace and , climb up Ai-Petri, to be in a crowded place Yalta. Then through Alushta and Sudak to return to the highway leading to Kerch.

The nature, history and mysticism of Crimea remain forever in the souls of those who have visited here. And they return again and again to touch its treasures.

The emerald warm waters of the Black Sea, luxurious palaces and historical cultural monuments, parks and squares, and the combination of mountain and sea air evoke admiration. Only an independent trip on a personal or rented vehicle will provide the opportunity to experience the absolute freedom of travel without restrictions on distances and time. Among the variety of noteworthy resort towns and places, it is important for tourists to determine what to see in Crimea by car.

A rented car is ideal for a thorough exploration of the peninsula's famous sights. This voyage option will allow tourists to go on an exciting and comfortable journey along the desired route, without burdening themselves with searching for the desired municipal transport route and studying travel schedules. You can make stops at picturesque sections of the road and take with you as many things as you need.

Renting a car in Crimea is as easy as in other civilized countries. Many local rental offices provide their services here. It is recommended to book a car several months before your trip through an online aggregator, which will select profitable rental offers from trusted local rental companies. Thus, the client will be offered a large selection of cars of different classes at an affordable price. You can receive the car directly upon arrival at the Simferopol airport or indicate any locality where the vehicle will be delivered to the customer.

It is important to remember that before registering a lease, you must study the terms of the contract. You should pay attention to the intricacies of insurance, the limit on the daily mileage of the car, the amount of the deposit and the general pricing of the rental. All information is detailed on the aggregator websites. When receiving the car at his disposal, the tourist must carry out an external and internal inspection of the vehicle for damage.

The territory of the peninsula is penetrated by an extensive network of roads. Routes to the famous resorts of Crimea run through steppe regions and steep mountain serpentines. When in cities and towns, you can leave your car in the parking lot and go on an exciting walk. Most of the attractions of Crimea are located along the vast coastline of the peninsula.

Kerch

On the eastern tip of the peninsula is the hero city of Kerch, the historical chronicle of which dates back to the 6th century BC. This small port place has been of great strategic importance from time immemorial. The city stands on the strait of the same name, connecting the waters of the Black and Azov seas. There were fierce battles for the possession of this piece of land, as evidenced by the walls of the Yeni-Kale and Kerch fortresses. The citadels are masterpieces of fortification art of the 18th-19th centuries.

Kerch is famous for its abundance of historical attractions. On one of the well-groomed seaside streets stands the Church of John the Baptist. The Byzantine style church was built in the 8th century. In the center of the city rises Mount Mithridates, the top of which is definitely worth climbing. It is actually a 92 meter high hill. To get to the highest point of the mountain, you need to climb 436 steps of a staircase decorated with sculptures of griffins (mythical winged predators) and vases. From the slope, tourists can see an amazing view of the city, surrounded by greenery, the obelisk of glory to Soviet troops, the “eternal flame,” as well as unique ancient ruins.

Feodosia

The eastern resort of Crimea - Feodosia - hospitably welcomes its guests. The city, located at the junction of mountains and steppes, attracts tourists with beautiful landscaped streets with picturesque parks, magnificent sandy beaches and cultural and historical museums.

The calling card of Feodosia is the embankment with its characteristic architectural flavor. The appearance of the main street of the resort is determined by 19th century villas. The facades of the buildings are decorated with columns, arches, towers and terraces with balustrades. Shrubs and flower beds are planted along the alleys. Near the embankment there are picturesque parks where you can relax in the shade of trees. Walking around the city, you can see many monuments, ancient churches, fountains and playgrounds.

A visit to the National Art Gallery named after I.K. will leave an unforgettable impression on tourists. Aivazovsky. The richest collection of seascapes is located in the personal home of the world famous artist, who was born in Feodosia. You can also visit the museum of another talented master - writer A.S. Greena. This is a literary and memorial institution that shows visitors the environment in which the famous romantic writer lived and worked.

Sunny Valley

Tourists who prefer solitude with the surrounding nature without noise and fuss will really like the village of Solnechnaya Dolina. This place, located 12 kilometers from Sudak and 3 kilometers from the sea, is considered one of the least crowded in Crimea, even at the height of the summer season. Severe huge rocks, forming a group of picturesque cliffs, tightly surround the settlement and protect the area from cold winds. Forest plantations and grape fields set a special tone for the local landscape.

The best grape varieties are grown in the Sun Valley, which is facilitated by a special microclimate. It is warm and sunny more than 300 days a year, and there is little rainfall. The heart of the village is the winery named after Prince L.S. Golitsyn, founded by him in 1880. Hidden among the abundance of exotic plants and flower beds are long tunnels of cellars with barrels and bottles of the noble drink. In the tasting room, tourists are offered to experience the unique flavors of several varieties of wine.

The nearest pebble-sand beach is in the village of Pribrezhnoye. Along the coastline you can find guest houses for vacationers and a green alley with shopping tents and small cafes.

New World

Among the juniper groves and pine forests, framed by majestic rocks, lies the small town of Novy Svet. The coastline is indented with cozy windless bays, where Ottoman pirates have long hidden their ships. A winding serpentine of roads penetrates the hilly terrain that surrounds the village. The resort was born thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of Prince Lev Golitsyn, who founded a winery here in 1878. Barrels of wine were stored in caves in rock formations.

The amazingly beautiful landscapes of the New World make a memorable impression on travelers. Tourists are recommended to walk along the Golitsyn trail to see the breathtaking Crimean nature. The road consists of stone steps carved into the mountainside, fenced with a curb. The 3-kilometer-long trail runs along a cliff above the edge of the sea coast and under high rock overhangs. Along the way, you can visit a grotto carved out of the rock by the waves. Its height is 30 meters. The cave cavity is occupied by stone arches.

The end point of the Golitsyn trail is Cape Kapchik. The rocky ledge resembles the outline of a lizard quenching its thirst with the waters of the Black Sea. This is a natural boundary between two bays with steep mountains. Here the sea waters are striking in their transparency and the cleanliness of the pebble beaches is pleasantly surprising. Nearby rises the highest coral reef in Europe - Mount Sokol (472 meters).

Zander

The sunny city of Sudak is located on the coastal mountainous area of the southeast of the peninsula. The resort is great for families with children. There are many sandy beaches, as well as a gentle and safe entrance to the sea. A narrow alley of cypress trees leads to a lively and well-maintained embankment, replete with entertainment venues. There are pleasant places where you can spend leisurely time surrounded by lush subtropical vegetation.

The main symbol of Sudak is the legendary Genoese fortress. This is a unique architectural monument of medieval Crimea, erected at the turn of the 14th-15th centuries by colonialists from the Genoese Republic. The citadel stretches along a steep cliff, offering a picturesque view of the surrounding city, and occupies 30 hectares of territory. The fortress structure consists of powerful battlements and quadrangular towers, the height of which reaches 15 meters. The historical building fits harmoniously into the sea and mountain landscape.

Alushta

You can take a walk through the historical and memorable places where the legendary “Prisoner of the Caucasus” was filmed in one of the best resorts on the southern coast of Crimea - Alushta. The city is framed by a chain of majestic mountain ranges, which contributes to the constant circulation of air flows. The long and wide central embankment is dotted with fluffy crowns of evergreen coniferous trees, under which there are rows of benches. In addition to a separate alley with restaurants, iconic symbols of the city are located on the embankment. This is a rotunda with six columns, a monument to the Olympic Bear, a Boy with a Fish fountain and a large park with an abundance of plantings and flower beds.

The surroundings of Alushta deserve attention. You should definitely visit the Valley of Ghosts on the slopes of Mount Demerdzhi. This is literally an open-air natural museum, where, as a result of weathering, huge stone pillars have taken on bizarre shapes. The thick fog settling over the valley gives a special mystery to the figures. Walking through these places, you can see the famous tree from where Yuri Nikulin’s hero threw nuts. The rock formations of the valley, which have their own names, are fascinating. For example, you can see the “Head of Catherine” rock, as it resembles the profile of the Empress.

30 kilometers from Alushta there is an amazingly beautiful temple of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. The church, built in the shape of a lighthouse, is dedicated to the travelers who died at sea. The temple, instead of a dome, is crowned with a golden cross. In the basement of the shrine there is a unique museum of maritime disasters, in which the walls and ceilings are decorated with shipwrecks.

Yalta

The most famous and popular resort of the Republic of Crimea is the unsurpassed Yalta, which is definitely worth a visit. This is the calling card of the southern coast of the peninsula. Mountain ranges, landscaped parks and squares, palm and cypress groves, the azure Black Sea and many interesting places replete with attractions give a special ambiance to this city.

The long sea embankment of Yalta is a favorite street of tourists and local residents, where you can take a pleasant walk, admiring the natural beauty. Here you can admire alleys of palm and coniferous trees, sculptural compositions, marinas with yachts and plenty of entertainment for every taste. Along the promenade there are a long row of ancient buildings of the 19th century, the facades of which are decorated with columns and roofing balustrades. The embankment is popular with street musicians and artists.

While in Yalta, you have the opportunity to go on an air trip by cable car, which passes over the ancient streets of the city. Tiny two-seater cabins make the climb up to Darsan Hill. During the trip, you can see the gilded domes of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and historical buildings. From a height of 138 meters there is an amazing panoramic view of the city.

The park and palace complex in the village of Massandra, 5 kilometers from the center of Yalta, will leave a pleasant impression. On a mountain slope, surrounded by forests and well-groomed alleys, stands a castle built for Emperor Alexander III. The beautiful architecture of the three-story palace evokes admiration. The façade is decorated with galleries, balconies, and towers with spiers. The terraces are framed by balustrades with flowerpots. In front of the building there is a small artificial pond with goldfish and a fountain. Those interested can examine the interior decoration of the premises and get acquainted with the conditions of royal life of those times.

Sevastopol

The legendary naval port of Sevastopol is located on the western coast of Crimea along several bays. Covered in the spirit of historical glory and great achievements, the hero city abounds with numerous attractions that will not leave anyone indifferent. The architectural ensembles of the city reflect the greatness, valor and honor of the Russian people.

You should start your walk from the central Nakhimov Square. Here the monument to Admiral Pavel Nakhimov, the memorial wall of the defense of Sevastopol with a relief image of a warrior, the Walk of Fame and the “Eternal Flame” attract attention.

Next to the square is the Count's Pier, the main entrance of which is a snow-white colonnade with a massive attic, built in 1846. Going down to the sea along a wide staircase, you can see a monument to sunken ships 20 meters from the shore. The monument is presented in the form of a seven-meter column installed on a granite rock and topped with a bronze eagle.

The Count's pier smoothly turns into an embankment, from where a panorama of the Sevastopol Bay opens up. Particularly noteworthy are the powerful Mikhailovskaya and Konstantinovskaya batteries, which provide protection against the entry of an enemy fleet into the city’s sea area. Primorsky Boulevard, adjoined by a picturesque alley with lawns, trees, fountains and numerous architectural structures, leaves a pleasant impression. There is a theater, a palace of culture, an oceanarium and a dolphinarium here.

The museum complex "35th Coastal Battery" should be a must-visit point of the hero city. During the defense of Sevastopol in 1941-1942, the fortress with artillery pieces in Cossack Bay resisted the fascist occupiers to the last. On the territory of the complex there are two battery towers, a pantheon in memory of defense heroes, gun exhibits and military equipment.

In the vicinity of Sevastopol there are the largest ancient Greek ruins of cultural value for humanity. This is the national archaeological reserve of Chersonesos-Tavrichesky. Tourists have a unique opportunity to walk around the city, founded in 420 BC. On a vast territory of more than 500 hectares of land there are ancient ruins, columns, fragments of buildings and structures. A significant place in Chersonesus is the Cathedral of St. Vladimir. According to legend, Prince Vladimir converted to Christianity here in 988.

Bakhchisaray

In a mountain gorge among dense vegetation and far from the coast, there was once the capital of the Crimean Khanate, which existed under the patronage of the Ottoman Empire until 1783. This is the colorful city of Bakhchisarai. Narrow streets with small old houses immerse you in the atmosphere of antiquity.

The main pearl of the city is the vast quarter of the residence of the Crimean Khanate. This is a palace complex of buildings that forms a labyrinth of unique oriental buildings. The two-story buildings are decorated with openwork window bars, tall minarets, galleries and paintings reflecting the traditions of Tatar culture. On the territory of the complex there are gardens, fountains, gazebos, utility buildings, a harem, a stable, baths, a falcon tower and a mosque.

Walking through the small rooms of the Khan's residence, you can notice the oriental luxury. The halls of the palace are decorated with bright floral patterns, decorative patterns, and carpets. In addition, there is a museum of culture, art, and history of the Crimean Tatars.

After getting acquainted with the traditions and way of life of the Crimean Khan, it is recommended to go to Chufut-Kale. This is one of the masterpieces of cave cities, located on a rocky plateau of a sheer cliff 600 meters high. In the Middle Ages, this area was inhabited primarily by Karaites, who professed a religious doctrine similar to Judaism. Utility and living quarters were skillfully carved into the stone formations. During the time of the Crimean Khanate, a mint was located in the cave fortress.

Simferopol

Simferopol is the capital of the Republic of Crimea and the gateway to the peninsula that greets tourists arriving at the international airport. This is where the exciting journey by car begins. A highly developed transport network of roads leads to absolutely any resort areas in Crimea. Most travelers are often carried away by a trip to the coast, so Simferopol remains without due attention. However, there is plenty to see and walk in the city.

The central street is Lenin Square, on which there is a monument to the leader of the proletariat, the building of the government of the republic and the academic theater. You should walk along the pedestrian street Pushkin. Ancient buildings from the 19th century are lined up along the boulevard. The Gagarin Park is replete with plantings, manicured lawns, fountains, monuments, memorials, benches and entertainment areas with attractions. The central part of the vast territory of the park is occupied by a lake with a small island in the middle, which can be reached by catamaran.

Worthy of attention is the landscaped Vorontsovsky Park with a botanical garden, full of flowers and rare plants. More than 200 types of roses of all colors of the rainbow are grown here. In the garden you can retire to the gazebos, stroll along narrow forest paths or along wide alleys under the canopies of tall trees. On the territory of the park there is a small estate of Count Vorontsov with classical columns. The hallmark of Simferopol is the railway station, built in 1951. The majestic building is decorated with a clock tower and an elegant arcade gallery. The architectural ensemble forms a courtyard with a laid out square and a fountain.

Evpatoria

The amazing resort of Evpatoria is one of the few Crimean cities that combines comfort, entertainment and cultural monuments. Beautiful sandy beaches, marvelous beautiful parks, a landscaped embankment with endless entertainment venues and various historical buildings evoke enthusiastic feelings among tourists.

Evpatoria is famous for its religious architectural buildings. You can see the multi-domed Juma-Jami mosque, the Cathedral of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the temple complex of the ancient Karaites, the Armenian church, and the synagogue. The shrines, reflecting the cultural heritage of different peoples, amaze with their beautifully designed facades. The city is full of sculptures and monuments dedicated to the historical past, famous figures, and fairy-tale characters. For lovers of active and cultural recreation there is a water park, a dolphinarium, a zoo, a theater and a museum.

Cape Tarkhankut

The pearl of the western part of the peninsula is Cape Tarkhankut. This place attracts tourists with its pristine nature, untouched by civilization. The lack of vegetation is compensated by numerous coastal cliffs rising vertically from the sea. Over a thousand years, waves and wind have carved caves, arches and strangely shaped blocks of stone along the shore.

Among the enchanting landscape, the natural aquarium “Cup of Love” deserves attention. This picturesque place is a heart-shaped pool surrounded by boulders. The bowl is filled with water thanks to an underwater tunnel made by waves in the coastal rocks.

So, you and your family decided to go to Crimea by car. Politics aside, this is a great choice - not only because it's affordable, but also because it's cool in Crimea. And traveling to Crimea by car is doubly cool. Here are instructions that will make the trip easy and memorable.

Let's start with those who have never been to Crimea. There are quite a few of them, because somehow a generation has grown up imperceptibly, under the word “resort” they perceive only Turkey and Egypt. And some, on the contrary, have been traveling to the Krasnodar region all their lives, considering the trip to Crimea too difficult due to crossing the border. Well, there is no border now, and foreign resorts are either too expensive or potentially dangerous due to the terrorist threat. In short, you went to Crimea...

1. Choose a place you like

Immediately forget about lying by the pool, animators, a buffet and all this “all inclusive”. In Crimea, the attitude towards this is the same “primitive” as in the Krasnodar Territory: everything is there, but for a lot of money. And people, in general, do not go to Crimea for this. People come here for the sun, air and sea, greenery, fruits, walks, discoveries - that is, for the atmosphere.

A special feature is that the peninsula is very small and at the same time very different. If you decide to do something other than lie on the beach (a really difficult decision) and take a short trip around Crimea, the peninsula will repeatedly surprise you, awakening completely new and at the same time completely different sensations. For the eastern Crimea, where the plain gradually turns into the picturesque rocky serpentine of Koktebel and the New World, is completely different from the western Crimea with its vast steppes and the beauties of Sevastopol and Balaklava. And the southern coast or the South Coast stands completely apart, where Ai-Petri, Yalta, Foros, a huge number of tourist routes, an ideal combination of mountain and sea air and a riot of subtropical vegetation.

There are few sandy beaches (in the east in the Feodosia region and in the west beyond Sevastopol), mostly pebbles, but anyone can find their “ideal beach” if desired. In places with a large number of “first line” hotels, access to the beach for everyone except the guests of these hotels is often paid (50-100 rubles per person).

However, in Crimea there are enough places where close to the water, ending with an almost deserted beach, there are not fashionable hotels, but small villages, which probably have mini-hotels, guest houses and housing in the private sector. Once you have vacationed in a certain place, you will almost certainly want to return there again.

The people in Crimea are simple and open. Residents of coastal cities for the most part live exclusively on tourism and try to provide maximum hospitality, realizing that they have to literally fight for clients with the neighboring Krasnodar Territory.

2. Decide on a budget

The approximate budget for a family holiday in Crimea by car is about 100,000 rubles.

A car trip to Crimea for a couple of weeks with a team of two adults and two children will cost you about 100,000 rubles - this is if you keep in mind the month of June, current gasoline prices (Crimean gasoline costs about the same as the rest of Russia), and travel to 4,000 – 5,000 kilometers, two-way ferry crossing (more on that below), two-room suite with amenities, TV and Wi-Fi, but a five-minute walk from the sea. For the same money you can find accommodation closer to the beach, but you definitely shouldn’t book in the city center - it will almost certainly be more expensive, and it’s not a fact that it’s better than somewhere in the suburbs.

Book accommodation through large thematic sites with good feedback, with a detailed description of the place and photographs. Consider in advance the area in which you are going to live by viewing street panoramas in Google or Yandex maps - sometimes this forces you to radically reconsider your attitude towards the almost chosen option and choose a much more suitable one in terms of convenience and money.

Breakfasts and/or lunches prepared on your own in the kitchen or barbecue in the yard can significantly save your budget, so it makes sense to check their availability when booking accommodation. And, of course, the amount indicated here is very approximate, giving only a general idea of the order of the numbers, but it is clear that in August it will be more expensive (30-40 thousand), and together with “savages” - on the contrary, it will be much cheaper.

3. Complete the car, check the documents

At this point we have basic things, but you know, all the mistakes in this world are stupid. For example, with people’s driver’s licenses, various strange things periodically happen: either the license will remain at home, or it will expire right on the trip, or something else... In short, once again.

Check before you travel that your car must have:

  • Tools (okay, let’s not show off, but at least take a spray gun)
  • Jack
  • "Spare"
  • First aid kit
  • Fire extinguisher
  • Check before you travel, you must have:
  • Rights
  • Registration certificate
  • OSAGO policy
  • Casco (if you have insurance).

Check the expiration date or expiration date of everything that has one: first aid kit, fire extinguisher, driver’s license, compulsory motor insurance, motor insurance. If there are passengers traveling in the rear of the cabin, it makes sense to tint the windows - given the hot and bright southern sun, this measure will not harm even if there is air conditioning.

4. Plan your route

It is impossible to reliably predict everything that awaits you on the roads of Russia on the way to Crimea. If someone wrote on the Internet two weeks ago that this area was undergoing renovations, then by now, as you understand, this may not be true.

And vice versa: the “ideal road” of a month ago can turn into a rather broken surface or into a torn up “repair zone”. Therefore, you just need to be prepared for anything and assume that in conditions close to ideal, you will be able to cover about 1,000 kilometers per day.

If there is more than one driver, the mileage can be increased, but you should not abuse this if you are traveling with children and/or pets - they need more frequent rest on the road than you. For the same reason, it is worth making “pit stops” - stops in order to rest and warm up. A good schedule for novice travelers seems to be: Drive for 2 hours 45 minutes, then stop for 15 minutes.

Your car first aid kit is already in order (see point 3), but in addition to medicines, you need to have a separate “travelling” first aid kit, where, in addition to commonly used medicines, there will be individual ones that may be necessary for one of the travelers. Take on board a sufficient amount of drinking water at the rate of 1 liter per person - this will definitely be enough until you stop at the minimarket at a gas station.

As a “snack”, kefir or drinking yogurt, as well as apples and bananas, will not be superfluous. For lunch, it is better to stop at those roadside cafes where there are several trucks - truckers eat only where the food is good, tasty, plentiful and inexpensive, even if it looks like a rickety shack.

It’s better to get up for the night before it gets dark, while the motels are clearly visible from the road and they definitely have free rooms. Also, estimate the time of your arrival at your vacation spot: it is possible that you will arrive late in the evening or at night, and your room will only be released the next day. It makes sense to discuss this point with the meeting party and either agree on an overnight stay in another room (which is quite possible), or spend the night somewhere nearby, or change the trip schedule... However, everything described in this paragraph is advice about road travel in general. Let's move on to Crimean realities.

5. Carry cash with you

Paying in shops, cafes, restaurants or hotels with Visa or Master Card in Crimea is now not a problem, although last year, say, it was impossible to pay with a Visa (as well as withdraw money from it). But withdrawing money from Russian bank cards is still inconvenient. This is due to the fact that many banks left Crimea after 2014 and have not returned to this point (in particular, there is not a single Sberbank ATM on the territory of the peninsula), and most banks located in Crimea charge a commission for withdrawing funds from Russian cards in the amount of 2-5% of the amount.

However, there is a way out: the most convenient way to withdraw money from any Russian card is at the branches and ATMs of the Russian National Commercial Bank. This is a Russian bank with its head office in Moscow and approximately 300 branches in Crimea. RNKB will not charge you a commission for withdrawing money from any third-party bank, and this is a plus. There will probably be a commission from your bank, but it is not too large: in the case of Sberbank, for example, it is 1%, but not less than 100 rubles - that is, it makes sense to withdraw amounts from 10,000 rubles. Or just bring enough cash with you so you don't have to think about ATMs at all.

6. Buy your ferry ticket in advance

On the way to Crimea, you reach the village of Ilyich in the Krasnodar Territory, and then a ferry crossing across the Kerch Strait to the peninsula awaits you. Transporting a car will cost you 1,700 rubles, each adult is charged 150 rubles, a child from 6 to 12 years old – 80 rubles, and children under 6 years old travel for free (prices at the time of writing, check them at gosparom.ru) .

If the ferry does not operate due to “actual weather”, which happens during a storm and can delay you for a long time (however, this rarely happens), then the entire procedure of crossing the strait will take you no more than two hours. Things are much better now than they were a couple of years ago. Moreover, the queue for loading, paperwork and leaving the ferry will take the lion's share of your time - the journey by water itself lasts about 30-40 minutes.

But “non-core” time can be, if not reduced, then optimized. After all, it’s much more pleasant not to stand in line to process documents and buy tickets (the procedure takes from 10 to 40 minutes), but to board the ferry right away, taking a convenient place for the car (those who enter first are the first to leave) and seat the family by the windows on the covered deck.

To do this, you need to buy tickets in advance at gosparom.ru or through the Gosparom application. Go to the website or download the application, register, arrange a trip, pay with a Visa, Master Card or Maestro card, go to your personal account, print out a ticket and present it at the entrance to the ferry along with documents for passengers and the car.

Despite the fact that about 60% of tickets are now sold electronically, the line of “electronicians” goes much faster, because they do not need to “stand at the window”, but only need to show the ticket and documents to the inspector at the machine. Ferries run every hour, and those who book a ticket in advance have a chance to leave on the one that sails earlier.

The only subtle point is that if you are traveling from afar, you need to more or less know when you will be at the crossing in order to be guaranteed to get into the time period (time slot) agreed upon at registration, which is six hours; otherwise, you will have to deal with exchanging the ticket. The site has an excellent “questions and answers” section that clears up literally everything.

7. Decide what you want to see in Crimea

We have already said that Crimea is full of interesting things and it would not be a bad idea to take a ride around the surrounding area. Moreover, the whole of Crimea is, in fact, surrounding areas: the distance to the point of interest to you on the opposite side of the peninsula can be a maximum of 200-250 km.

However, keep in mind that most likely it will not be the 250 kilometers that you are used to in the central part of Russia: there are few direct routes in Crimea, there are much more mountain and coastal serpentines. If desired, you can create a longer route, moving along the perimeter of the peninsula along the coast. Then the trip can be extended over a week, spending the night in a new place each time, combining auto tourism with small forays into the sea on a boat, because it is more logical and more interesting to get to some attractions by swimming.

Here, let's say, why the route is not ideal - through the wineries of Crimea: you start in the New World, aggravate it in Massandra and, if you allow, (and most importantly - if your health allows) “varnish” in Inkerman. But you either have to go without children and with a friend who doesn’t drink, or you have to somehow negotiate with your wife.

Well, seriously, the places you want to visit in Crimea, of course, you can choose while already on vacation, but it’s better to do it in advance - until the moment when you lie like a seal on the beach and don’t want to go anywhere.

8. Beware of thieves

Unfortunately, there is such a topic: in small settlements, motor tourists are robbed. For example, in the village of Ordzhonikidze (the locals call it Ordzho), which is generally very nice and picturesque, local swindlers, simply sowing in the bushes, “weed” a suitable car with non-local license plates in the parking lot, while the owner is enjoying the view or swimming nearby, breaking the glass, opening the door and drag everything that drags.

This does not happen in cities, and in general the criminal situation in Crimea is favorable, but in suspicious, sparsely populated places it is better not to experiment with fortune. If there is no secure parking nearby, you almost always have the option of leaving someone at the car or simply not stopping where the terrain does not inspire confidence. It is also worth paying attention to roadside announcements - sometimes conscious locals write warning words like “be careful, cars are being broken into” directly on the asphalt.

9. Prepare for different roads in Crimea

When you take the ferry to the peninsula, you will find yourself in the suburbs of the city of Kerch. The route runs right through this city, and the roads there... are Russian. Well, then it’s different. Somewhere the roads have been “killed” since the times of Ukraine, and somewhere else there is already new asphalt. The serpentine road in the Koktebel area is good, as well as on the highway that goes from Simferopol north to Dzhankoy... But the road from Feodosia to Simferopol just began to be repaired last year and was an explosive mixture: sections with repairs taking place on them, a repaired new road surface and pieces of the road with very old broken surfaces.

You have to be prepared for the fact that you will come across both very good and simply disgusting sections of the road surface. In addition, this year the renovations that began a year ago will probably continue, so some directions may simply be blocked. However, Crimea is very easy to navigate, and there is always the opportunity to choose a detour route. And no matter what road you have in Crimea, know: you will have a not too long, but certainly an exciting trip. Good luck!

In May, it is planned to launch automobile traffic on the Crimean Bridge, which will reduce travel time. How long will the journey take and how much banknotes should I prepare for the journey?

Summer is just around the corner, which means it’s time to choose a route and destination for your vacation. If we limit ourselves to Russian leisure options, more and more interest is generated by... yes, Crimea. Getting there very soon will be quite easy due to the opening of the bridge of the same name - the longest domestic structure with a length of 19 kilometers, which cost 227.9 billion rubles.

Advantages of a bridge over a ferry crossing

With the beginning, almost everyone forgot about the Kerch crossing that blocked the way and loading onto the ferry, no longer depending on its load or the vagaries of the weather. Overcoming the water section lengthened the journey - the “swimming” time took from 15-20 minutes and almost up to an hour, not counting the waiting time for the ferry. We should not forget about the admonition of some travelers to book a ticket for the “ship” in advance, otherwise there is a risk of standing in line. Of course, now everything is not as bad as in 2014, when people stood at the crossing for more than a day: now the ships are moving more intensively, and again there is an electronic queue.

However, sometimes the entire procedure from registration to arrival in Crimea takes 40 minutes, and sometimes the count can take hours. So the opening of the bridge made it possible to “fly” the segment over the surface of the sea and no longer be tied to the conventionally “plug” place. In addition, the route can be calculated without taking into account an overnight stay, although not everyone can cope with the entire journey without sleep.

Where to stay overnight

The main route leading both to Crimea and generally to the south of the homeland is the M-4 Don. The distance from the capital to the bridge is about one and a half thousand kilometers. Some travelers, capable of absorbing this distance in one sitting, recommend leaving as early as possible in order to arrive at the crossing before midnight, or soon! – see the beginning of the Crimean Bridge in front of you. However, not all of us are candidates for the “iron butt” award, so the road can be stretched out. One option is to stay overnight in Rostov-on-Don, where there are plenty of hotels, but the prices are the highest - on average about 2,500 rubles per day. Either stay in one of the available hotels in Novocherkassk or get to Timashevsk. There is less housing here, but it is cheaper. From there, bypassing Krasnodar, you can move to Crimea with renewed vigor. In general, there are a lot of hotels on the way to Crimea and you can choose a point to suit every taste and budget.

Travelers usually recommend these cities as transit points due to the convenience of their location - just make a forced march to the south-southwest, and in a few hours you are already at the crossing. Now, those traveling to the southern resorts will no longer have to figure out how to get on the ferry not during the day, when there are especially many cars, but in the early morning or at night.

Approximate cost of travel in 2019

Spending on hotels will be small, in contrast to the “financing” of gas stations. If the entire route from Moscow to Crimea and back, taking into account driving around the peninsula for pleasure, is taken as 4000 kilometers with an average consumption of 95 gasoline, say, 12 l/100 km (taking into account the likelihood of traffic jams) and a fuel cost of 42 rubles per liter , then in the end it will be about 20 thousand rubles. If you have a diesel car with a long range and a modest appetite, then we can only rejoice.

For an overnight stay during the trip, budget around 5 thousand rubles, although, of course, it may come out cheaper. It is difficult to judge food costs, because it depends on appetite. Some travelers take food to spare and save on food, while others indulge in nothing, raiding roadside restaurants.

Gas stations on the way

It is better to leave Moscow with a full tank and stop at gas stations in regional centers at network stations - it is not recommended to check the quality of fuel offered by small gas stations in your car. Also keep in mind that fuel prices in Crimea are about 1-2 rubles higher than on the “continent”. You can save money by refueling in the village of Ilyich before the ferry crossing, read, at the Crimean Bridge. Arriving on the peninsula, do not be surprised by the unusual names “Atan”, TPP and “Sovremennik”. These are large local gas stations and those who have traveled the road are advised to refuel at them without fear.
